Gorgeous views and cozy but spacious house

  • 5 of 5

Loved every second of this place -- the deck overlooking the lake, the fireplace, the spacious bedrooms -- everything. It's perfect for a large family or group of friends. The ability to use the boat to get on the lake is a huge plus. Clean and fantastic -- look forward to returning!

Nearly perfect

  • 5 of 5

This is a home and guest house that has been designed and built to be comfortable and first class. My family had a great time keeping busy using the tennis court, boats and waterfront, terraces BBQ and fire pit. The property manager was very attentive and it was in very good condition.

Like previous renters, our only complaint was the muddy, heavily weed covered shore area but we soon learned that, using one of the 4 boats to reach the nearby float in the clear part of the pond was easy

Stunning, spacious property

  • 4 of 5

The setting of this home is just gorgeous- it sits on a shady, private lot right on Upper Rhoda Pond. There is a large yard for running around and a dock with enough boats for a big group. The house itself is very large and has lots of bathrooms- a must for a multi-family trip! The guest house in particular is obviously new and stunning.

I'm giving the home 4 stars is because the two outdoor showers were not working (one was completely off, and one spurted water horizontally from a pipe). The manager tried to get a plumber in there before our stay but was not able to. Also, we were given the incorrect house code so had some trouble getting in. Lastly; we had the air conditioning on at night, but the house never fully cooled down- it's very large, so that may be a factor! Just good to know if you're very sensitive to heat. In general, our stay was absolutely wonderful!

Beautiful, peaceful retreat

  • 4 of 5

My party of 10 family members stayed here during my wedding weekend, and it was really great. It took us a bit to figure out the climate control, but we stoked a fire on the first night to stave off the cold. The view onto the water is gorgeous, rooms are spacious, and my husband and I used the guest house as a mini honeymoon suite! Our only complaint was that ants were crawling around the kitchen after two days.

Even better in person

  • 5 of 5

I spent the weekend on this beautiful property with three college friends and their families. We numbered eleven people in total and the house felt spacious and comfortable. When we arrived there were several gardeners and landscapers putting the finishing touches to the grounds -- which are truly spectacular. The house had already been cleaned and prepped from top to bottom and everyone had the same reaction upon entering -- WOW! Every bedroom/bathroom is uniquely designed and outfitted with top-quality linens and fixtures.

During our stay we enjoyed the kayaks, canoe, and rowboat (and caught several good-size bass and pickerel) -- as well as the tennis court and a raucous game of HORSE with the basketball hoop. The huge deck, outdoor furniture and BBQ grill made our dining time even more enjoyable.

While Copake itself is a tiny town its proximity to a wide variety of sights is a huge plus. Nearby must-visits are the short hike to Bash Bish Falls (about 5 miles) and Monument Mountain in Great Barrington (about 20 miles away).

AND -- if you like soft serve ice cream, the Copake diner serves the best we've ever tasted (and our group included several ice cream connoisseurs).

All in all, this is a spectacular property that deserves every one of the five stars!

We had a lovely family gathering at this great house.

  • 5 of 5

The lovely pond setting, with nature all around. Multiple paddle boat opportunities, and great tennis court for a fun family gathering. Nice stereo with tons of CDs, good solid WIFI access. Nice outdoor grill and well equipped kitchen. Multiple large group seating both inside and outside. Enjoyed the fire with plenty of firewood.

Only downside was some of the furniture in the main house is a little tired - especially in the living room. The furniture in the guesthouse is stunning and quite new. Beds are fine.

Jennifer the property manager was responsive, kind and attentive.
