Guestbook comments from the manager

The Bourbon Place was a great house to spend time with 10 members of our family. With the pool and foosball tables, hot tub, movies, there was always something to do. Nice view, close to town for grocery shopping and spread out enough if you wanted privacy for a few minutes. We are thinking about making this an annual event!

Beautiful view, fun house

  • 5 of 5

When we first saw the home we adored it. The view is amazing and the set up is very open and friendly for a large group and we definitely were a large group. We had family in another house down the way but The Bourbon Place Retreat was our go to spot as the layout allowed us to get together and enjoy each other's company. We were all in town for a wedding and this amazing home allowed my family to see the absolute gorgeousness of the Oregon coast. There was ample parking for our family to come over and the back room in conjunction with the kitchen allowed us to spread out and enjoy each others company without being too cramped. There were only two things that were difficult and that was the locked closets etc that did not allow us to hang up clothing, we had to live out of our bags but small price to pay. And considering we had a full house, things got hard with just two bathrooms, one upstairs in the master bedroom and one downstairs in the common area. I think if you are using the Bourbon Place Retreat to its max capacity which is 20, then you need to be sure that people are fine with bathroom turn-taking as that got a little difficult. But all in all, this was a great home and we had a wonderful stay. We would definitely stay here again!

Awesome view

  • 4 of 5

We hosted a small family reunion and it was perfect for what we needed. Plenty of beds for the kids to sleep in and the hot tub was a hit. The view from the living room and the deck was spectacular. The location also provided great access to tons of great activities for the family. The owner was also very responsive.

Great location and views, adequate housing.

  • 3 of 5

First, let me say that we really enjoyed our stay. The space worked well for our family. The sunsets and bay views were spectacular. While we didn't go clamming, we watched clammers each day working the bay just steps away from our deck. You can't walk to a walking beach, but there is a beautiful, sandy beach just a short 2 1/4 mile drive away in Netarts. Look for the Happy Camp sign. We all enjoyed the foosball and pool tables, though if you are a skilled pool player, the pool table would be a disappointment--plenty adequate for us, however.

On the down side, the whole place is a bit worn around the edges and could stand some updating. The kitchen is fairly well furnished, but we had to go out and buy mixing bowls. There was an ample supply of warped and worn griddles and skillets that could be tossed to make room for a useable one. Not a big deal, but all chest and drawer space is locked so had to live out of our suitcases all week. When we arrived the hot tub had not been serviced. Heather responded immediately, but it was the next evening before it was ready for use. Someone had burned newspaper in the fireplace and it had not been cleaned. We removed a 13 gal. garbage bag full of ash before we could use it. There were two charcoal grills and one large gas grill on the deck. All were dirty and the gas grill did not appear to be useable. We used the Webber after cleaning it. The biggest issue for us were the toilet seats. They really need to be replaced. They are old wooden seats on which the finish has worn and they appear unsanitary. We disinfected them and made do, but a relatively inexpensive replacement would make it a lot better.

Pretty great place

  • 4 of 5

Great view, lots of beds should you need them. Spent our morning stressing about using towels to shower and then having enough time to wash and dry and fold them before check out. It smelled like the towels upstairs had soured as if someone hadn't dried them all fully or something.

With that said, the location and view are pretty great, and I'd recommend it for a large group. Just bring your own towels ;)

great place for families to share

  • 4 of 5

This was an ideal house for our visit. We travelled with two families and the set up of the back room for the kids was fantastic. I was happy to see how well stocked the kitchen was; they even had sharp knives! Great view and the hot tub was a hit for adults and kids alike. My only suggestion is about the master bedroom upstairs. We stayed for several days and had no where to unpack our clothing as both the dresser and closets were locked for owner use. We packed in duffel bags, it would have been nice to have had a dresser to put our clothes in so that they didn't end up a wrinkled mess. Other than that, our stay was lovely!

nice house

  • 4 of 5

We went in the winter so it rained alot but still managed to make it down to the beach ... would be a great house during the summer right on the ocean bay... house was very roomy... and handicap accessible but no walk in shower for handicap ... lots of windows for the view ... beds were very comfy and kitchen was well stocked for our needs... not alot of shopping downtown but we made a couple of day trips to towns close by like Seaside for their aquarium and shopping... the cheese factory was nice to see and the air hanger museum with all the old planes and history was very interesting...

Oregon is a beautiful place to go... we've stayed in Florence before and would come back again...
