About Lisa Armstrong

Hello! I'm Lisa your host. Born in Sweden but living in England with my husband Herbie, and 4 now grown up children and 2 adorable grandchildren, see picture. We spend most of the summer season in our cosy casita, and will be there to meet & greet, and on hand should you need us. When we're away Paqui, our Spanish cleaner will be 'on call', as well as Pedro-the gardener. We are very pleased to have many years of happy and satisfied guests, and hope to have many more. We want all our guests to feel at home and treat our home as your own, and enjoy a happy, relaxed, wonderful holiday......

Lisa Armstrong purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Lisa Armstrong chose Lorca

Casa ViaFlora is the ideal holiday place for those of you who are looking for a romantic, cosy and relaxed holiday, sunbathing and chilling by the pool, enjoying a drink and BBQ, reading and listening to music, or playing our Spanish guitar. We fell in love with this farm cottage and spent years renovating and making it lovely. This is real Spain, where the living is easy, the sun always shines and you can still go and and eat a 'menu del dia' (todays lunch special) for 9 euros per head, including wine.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for a wonderful week in Casa Viaflora in July. A Spanish sojourn far enough away from the madding crowd to totally chillout but near enough to explore the coast the mountains of the real Spain or the lo"r"cal facilities. Days spent relaxing and reading on the Terrace or taking a dip in the crystal clear pool warm nights under the stars serenaded by the local cicadas sipping a glass of wine or two A fantastic place from which to see the real Spain or use it as your own personal retreat - Nirvana.

Amazing Place

  • 5 of 5

We booked the holiday for a relaxing week and it certainly allowed us to do that. It is just a shame we didn't book for longer. The garden and terrace's are amazing. We especially enjoyed spending our evenings on the Moroccan inspired terrace drinking wine and eating good food. We took plenty of photographs for inspiration in our own home. The villa itself is positioned away from any built up area so on an evening all you can hear is the sound of the crickets and a distant barking dog.

Our hosts Lisa and Herbie were also amazing. We brought our one year old Daughter with us and for her first holiday and Lisa and Herbie provided us with a cot and a small paddling pool which she jumped in at every opportunity! Also the home made bread was warmly welcomed upon our arrival, thanks Lisa!

Internally the villa offered us all that we needed, a nice clean and airy space with a kitchen with everything required for travelling with a young child.

The grounds are well maintained with a number of fruit trees and cacti. We had the the pleasure of meeting Pedro the gardener who taught our daughter her first Spanish word. Even now almost two months after we left Spain she wont stop saying 'Hola' to everyone she meets.

We ventured into Lorca, Aguilas and a couple of nearby beaches but we preferred to just relax by the pool. If you have small children Aguilas is great as it has a fun fair and a large playground close to the sea front. It also has a number of restaurants dotted along the promenade.

I can't recommend this place enough, we had an amazing time and would love to return.

lovely cottage, gardens, pool - and owners!

  • 5 of 5

A comfortable cottage in a private location with lovely gardens and an attractive Moroccan feel. The rather cozy kitchen has all one needs, and we enjoyed preparing many meals there, sometimes enjoying freshly-picked oranges and lemons from the garden. Bedrooms are clean and attractive. Beds have comfortable mattresses. In the morning, the sun streams into the master bedroom through French doors which open onto the lovely, lushly planted pool area. The evenings are cool in early April, but we stayed warm thanks to a space heater or two and a comfortable heated blanket. The sunny east-facing patio off the kitchen is a happy spot to sip coffee and start the day. The rooftop patio with views across surrounding fields is pleasant for lunch or drinks. The garden out front is nicely planted -- and the two birds nested just above the entrance were a lovely sight. Though early April is a bit early for swimming, the pool was pretty and appeared very clean. The covered patio beside the pool was a comfortable, attractively furnished shelter from the sun and spot for drinks. We put the clothes washer, which worked well, to regular use, and our clothes dried quickly in the hot Spanish sun.

It is a pleasant 20-minute drive through dramatic hills via a comfortable motorway to the attractive beach town of Aguilas. A still sleepier village beach scene can be found in Calabardina a few miles to the north. But our favorite destination was the extensive, white sands of Calnegre, 20 minutes north via the motorway or 30 minutes via the dramatic coastal road.

Owners Lisa and Herbie are warm and lovely. They kindly met us on the motorway and guided us five minutes to the cottage. While ensuring our privacy, they made sure we were comfortable and were responsive to all of our questions and requests. A highlight of our visit was joining them – and Luna, their 1-year-old rescue Jack Russell – for drinks at a café on the beach in Calabardina. We also enjoyed a lovely time with them over cocktails by the pool the evening before our departure. Lisa and Herbie were very welcoming of our dogs, and young Luna was enormously popular with them. The extensive area out front is well suited to dogs as it is entirely fenced in.

Very cosy and private holiday villa

  • 5 of 5

We (Dutch couple 55+ with dog) stayed at Casa ViaFlora for two years in a row for a period of three weeks during summer 2015 and 2016.

We loved the house and especially the privacy of the garden and the pool. The atmosphere in and around the house is very relaxing. The place is very quiet and all day long you can enjoy the pool and use the stereo to listen at music without disturbing neighbors. Also the terrace next to the house is lovely the sit and relax when the sun is to hot or to sit during the evening.

Casa ViaFlora is very well equipped and very complete. Everything we needed was in the kitchen. The master bedroom is near the garden and the pool, so waking up in the morning was a pleasure every day again, with a lovely view over the pool and the palm tree.

The large ground around the house is very well fenced so our dog was very happy too and free to run, play with the ball and let herself out.

The owners Herbie and Lisa were so kind to babysit for our dog when we wanted to go away for a day to explore the vicinity and the beaches. Aquillas is a typical Spanish city near the coast without too many tourists and lovely restaurants and bars.

Lorca is a beautiful city with a lot of nice old buildings, park’s and restaurants to enjoy a lovely Spanish meal.

Altogether we had two lovely holidays at Casa ViaFlora and probably 2016 wasn’t the last year to come spend our holidays at this house!

The best holiday since years

  • 5 of 5

A holiday where everything is right!

Lovely atmosphere, great patio / veranda and the view from the bedroom over the garden and the terrace surpasses everything. Waking up is like a dream!

The nearby authentic Lorca 10 km away and the coastal town of Aguilas is 20 km away. These are real Spanish citiies without a lot of tourism and quiet beaches.

Herbie and Lisa Armstrong are very welcoming landlords, who did everything to make it to your liking and let you enjoy Spain. We were there for three weeks with our dog and they have even babysit a few days for our dog.

This was a top vacation and most likely not the last vacation in this place!

We incredibly enjoyed our stay at la casita of Lisa and Herbie. It was an oasis of green in the rather arid area of Murcia. The cosy interior design and the hospitality of the owners of the house made us feel home. Highly recommended!
