MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED THIS LOT IN '79'. THE HOUSE WAS BUILT THE FOLLOWING YEAR. IT WAS TRUE WILDERNESS BACK IN THOSE DAYS, BUT HAS BECOME MORE SETTLED OVER THE YEARS WITH THE ADVENT OF PAVEMENT, NATURAL GAS, AND ROAD MAINTENACE. THE AREA HAS REMAINED RURAL WITH LARGE LOT SIZES KEEPING IT OPEN AND APPEALING TO WILDLIFE.
Owner purchased this Chalet in 1979
Why Owner chose Eagle River
WE WANTED TO LIVE AND RAISE OUR KIDS IN A TRULY ALASKAN SETTING, BUT STILL BE WITHIN RANGE OF EMPLOYMENT
Local Services & Businesses
Sports & Adventure Activities
Please ask the owner or check their rental agreement when booking the property.
Everything about the Mountain House was perfect! We loved it!
Thanks Christy and family for writing the review. We are both very pleased you

Hope to see you again.

Stay here when ever I am in Anchorage. It's
a great property with great views, but i stay
here for the peace and serenity. It truly rejuvenates the soul after a day of business
In the city.
Beautiful log home in the mountains
Where do I start? This is not your typical VRBO. This is a haven from the world outside. A beautiful log home with all the creature comforts you could need. Well laid out, beautifully decorated, incredible views... I could go on and on. Checked in a couple times with the owner via email during our stay. Owners were quick to respond. The home is only a few minutes drive from the Glenn highway, yet feels a million miles away. Such a beautiful, peaceful setting.
Since I firmly believe in posting the good and bad with all reviews I post, here's the bad....Our stay here ended and we had to leave. Seriously. We absolutely loved our time here. This is a phenomenal place. Upon arrival we found the kitchen pretty well stocked to get our visit started. There was OJ, coffee and half & half, as well as a veggie tray to snack on!! Comfortable beds, living room seating, etc. The mountain views are breathtaking. Most days we watched bears on the mountain across the valley, from the comfort of our front deck. Dined out a few nights in nearby Eagle River and Anchorage. Grilled fresh halibut and salmon fillets on the huge gas grill on the covered back porch. John and Ellen have thought of everything when putting together this place. You can feel the love that has gone into this home!
Thanks John and Ellen. We are looking forward to returning to our new found home away from home when in the Anchorage area again!!! Mark & Cari
Thanks for the great review Mark and Cari, and thanks for leaving the place spotless. It was a pleasure having you and corresponding about our similar
knowledge of midcoast Maine.
Hope to see you again soon.

Luxury and Beauty
I stayed at the Mountain House for four nights with my husband, sister and brother-in-law. It was Wonderful. The scenery was breathtaking. We were in Alaska for two weeks and this was are favorite home away from home. The owners not only provided a beautiful, clean home but had everything if you wanted to prepare a meal or play a game, or just relax on one of the beautiful decks. Unfortunately it rained most of the time we were there but we could still sit out on the covered deck and relax. Anchorage is so close that we were able to do what we had planned then enjoy this serene beauty to unwind. They even have a spyglass to see animals on the mountain and books that tell you about things to do in the area, maps, hikes and books about animals, plants and birds so you can identify things you see. If your in the Anchorage area you will love this home!
Great views, excellent property!
Our family had a great time at this cabin! Magnificent views, well appointed, clean and centrally located to explore the Anchorage area. Also of note there is a nice playground called Spirit Park just across the creek from the cabin. Highly recommend this rental.
Thanks for taking the time to submit a review. Very happy it met your
expectations. Thanks for leaving the place in good shape. The cleaning
crew (Ellen and John) always appreciate it.
Hope to have you as guests again in the future.
