Epworth Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Log Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Other, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6, Romantic, Hot Tub, Fishing

Our previous guests might remember that my RiverMist Cabin was once listed on the "Rainbow Cabins" website but we have since moved on and are now proud members of the VRBO family, offering the long awaited "online booking and payment system", we find it much more efficient and quicker for our guests to immediately lock-in their reservations -- we even have a new and improved management staff.

We are just 90 minutes from Atlanta is a place of exceptional natural beauty offering peace & quiet plus championship trout fishing but close enough to town & all the other activities. The area of Blue Ridge, GA has enough outdoor activities to keep anyone busy but also offers upscale dining & shopping. Mountains, lakes, streams, rafting, tubing, fishing, shopping, this area has it all & is very accessible from both Atlanta & Chattanooga. Wildlife is abundant such as deer, racoons & birds. The master bedroom/bath is on the main level for easy access while the loft has a queen bed, bath & futon. Easy steps down the the creek for fishing & swimming. Tube down Fightingtown Creek or white water raft the famous Ocoee River or Canoe the Toccoa River, they are both so close. The Ocoee Whitewater Center, sight of the 1996 rafting Olympics is just 25 minutes away. Quiet & peaceful in a small gated community but close to shopping, grocery stores, hospital, etc.

About Kim Wood

We enjoy the quiet here but also the many outdoor activities available in this area. Our favorite activities are fishing, tubing, rafting, exploring & sitting on the deck looking at the sparkling river. Even in the winter, we love sitting on the upper deck chairs or the sofa downstairs, drinking hot Irish Coffee and watching the river flow by on a Saturday morning after a hard week of work in the city. What therapy! I always enjoy driving up here from the south and seeing the first set of BlueRidge Mountains on the skyline, just makes you take that long awaited exhale -- like you're finally at home again. Guess I'm a mountain man after all. Ya'll come on over here and enjoy!

Kim Wood purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Kim Wood chose North Georgia Mountains

This area has all of the outdoor activities we could ever ask for plus exceptional outdoor beauty, it also makes a very romantic get away. There's nothing that compares to watching a Blue Herring at the bank of Fighting Town creek hunting trout. They get really big up here, wing span of 6'. The stars above on a clear night will AMAZE you, we even keep a telescope up stairs for you to use if you know how. It is very convenient to the town of BlueRidge, McCaysville, Atlanta, Chattanooga & Knoxville. In the heat of summer it is so nice to wade into what we call our natural whirlpool (middle of the creek there is a 4.5' bowl of water) deep enough to sit on the boulders there and keep your head above water. I've almost fallen asleep there it's so relaxing. We had a renter that said that's about all they did when they were there last June. They call places like this 'God's Country', I can understand why. You really connect with nature up here. I couldn't live without our cabin now that my family has experienced it. We want to share it with everybody! I could go on and on -- the scent of the white pinewood when you open the cabin door, the hummingbirds that buzz by in the mornings, the distant howl of a coyote and her pups. Just Awesome. We love to hike the Blueridge mountains, go riding the 4-wheelers, fishing and kayaking. I'll trade a beach get-away for this 3 to 1.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin sits on Fightingtown Creek which is about 8-10 miles west of the town of Blueridge. Call us and we'll provide you with the address to do a Google map search.

This cabin is located on a short road off of the main thoroughfare to a small gated community so your privacy is ensured.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Our family enjoy our stay at your cabin. My sons and I enjoyed fishing and caught one fish. That was enough. We were lucky enough to see a river otter swimming Friday evening. It must have a den across the river from the steps. Hope to return in the future.

Beatiful and peaceful setting

  • 4 of 5

Nicely appointed cabin in a very peaceful setting on a fun river for fishing and tubing. Nice neighbors. Cabin has everything you need but read the list of things to take for a complete itinerary. If fishing, children under 16 don't need a license. Challenging driveway.

Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Hubby and I needed some time away and so glad we found this cabin. Kim was awesome to work with and a great help whenever needed. With hammock, jacuzzi, and creek (also fire pit which we didn't use this time), we were able to enjoy the outside reading or relaxing in the sun. The cabin was comfy and kitchen equipped with what I needed. Will definitely come back when schedule allows. Also enjoyed walking downtown and taking the train ride from Blue Ridge to McCayesville - just a note, ride the "best choice", you will be treated like royalty!!!! ☺️

Perfect vacation with the family!

  • 5 of 5

Peaceful and cozy cabin in the woods. River Mist is a great place to stay, and the location was nice and secluded. The cabin is close to 2 grocery stores and lots of outdoor activities. Tubing down the Toccoa River and fishing on Lake Blue Ridge was so much fun! I highly recommend staying at River Mist.

Fantastic onsite river!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from visiting this spot and really enjoyed it. This location is an unbeatable riverfront spot...The river was clear, and even with rain it cleared up very quickly and was nice for tubing! There were no kayaks on site, but I saw others doing it, so I think you could easily kayak down the river if you bring one. The community is very nice, you are nearby others in a gated community so it gives you a safe feeling even though it seems like it is in the middle of nowhere to get there down the quaint country road. There is a walking trail that runs along the river for a bit, so you can do a bit of low key exploring. The home owners in the area are really friendly, and even helped direct us to good fishing holes and helped start our fire our first night when we didn't have lighter fluid. The cabin has all the amenities for cooking, the only things I didn't find were grilling tongs and a shredder, but we made do, and I imagine most people won't miss those. The fire pit and the hot tub were great and cozy. The place is kind of small, but is enough for 4-6 people if you don't need tons of privacy. We didn't spend a lot of time inside because there is so much to do outdoors. They had a decent surround sound system inside and outside, so you could listen to music while you fish, play corn hole, watch others float by, etc. The cabin had a lot of charm- little details that made it real cute- walking sticks, hooks to hang things on, a lot of animal décor, cornhole game to name a few. The location is close enough to a variety of activities - the orchard is a must if you are a bit of a foodie- their market is full of locally grown products in the area and from the orchard, and they have a winery onsite. Kim the owner was real nice and answered all our questions. We were originally looking for a mountain cabin, I'm so glad we did this instead- there is much more to do outdoors with the river than play indoor pool/ hockey/etc like many other places advertise. The river view and being able to get in the water is perfect for people that love the outdoors or want to get back to nature!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the Great review! You've said something that most don't consider until they experience it -- that "being in the valley next to a mountain river is so much funner than just being on top with a view." I love the view from up there but the thrill wears out pretty fast for those adventurous types (and kids). There's so much more to do near the water! Sounds like you'll be back again soon! Thanks Again -- Great review!

Beautiful and peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were extremely pleased with the River Mist cabin. This was my first rental and wasn't sure what to expect, but by the time we left we were already talking about coming back again. My husband caught his first rainbow trout and he is still smiling! I am glad we read previous reviews about the gravel drive, as our four wheel drive truck came in handy getting out each day. Hope to rent again in the future.

Owner's Response: So glad you liked our Cabin! Thanks for the kind words and great review! As for the gravel road to the cabin, it's not hard to make it in any car, no need for a truck at all, we've had plenty of guest arrive in all type of vehicles, even motorcycles occasionally. One suggestion for those from the city, don't stop when motoring up the gravel hills (if possible), getting traction after a stop on a hill can kickup the gravel under your tires, best to just go up these small hills slow and steady. Hope to see you back again soon!

WOW! We absolutely loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is a hidden little nugget in the woods! I am not a cabin/woodsy kind of girl and prefer my toes in the sand on the beach but I was delightfully surprised when we arrived at River Mist. What you see in the pictures on VRBO is exactly what you get. The cabin is very cozy (clean, comfortable furniture and everything you need except groceries and toiletries). We have stayed at other cabins in Gatlinburg and this was our first time to Blue Ridge. There is no comparison in this cabin vs those. Hands down, we will vacation here again. The hot tub, fire pit and creek were plenty to keep us entertained and really gave us all enjoyment of being with one another without the hustle and bustle of going here and there. The only thing we weren't so fond of is the steep driveway but no time we will come in the Jeep :-)

We all loved it here and cant wait to stay a full week!
