Overview

About the property

Log Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6, Romantic, Hot Tub, Fishing

Our previous guests might remember that my RiverMist Cabin was once listed on the "Rainbow Cabins" website but we have since moved on and are now proud members of the VRBO family, offering the long awaited "online booking and payment system", we find it much more efficient and quicker for our guests to immediately lock-in their reservations -- we even have a new and improved management staff.

We are just 90 minutes from Atlanta is a place of exceptional natural beauty offering peace & quiet plus championship trout fishing but close enough to town & all the other activities. The area of Blue Ridge, GA has enough outdoor activities to keep anyone busy but also offers upscale dining & shopping. Mountains, lakes, streams, rafting, tubing, fishing, shopping, this area has it all & is very accessible from both Atlanta & Chattanooga. Wildlife is abundant such as deer, racoons & birds. The master bedroom/bath is on the main level for easy access while the loft has a queen bed, bath & futon. Easy steps down the the creek for fishing & swimming. Tube down Fightingtown Creek or white water raft the famous Ocoee River or Canoe the Toccoa River, they are both so close. The Ocoee Whitewater Center, sight of the 1996 rafting Olympics is just 25 minutes away. Quiet & peaceful in a small gated community but close to shopping, grocery stores, hospital, etc.

About Kim Wood

We enjoy the quiet here but also the many outdoor activities available in this area. Our favorite activities are fishing, tubing, rafting, exploring & sitting on the deck looking at the sparkling river. Even in the winter, we love sitting on the upper deck chairs or the sofa downstairs, drinking hot Irish Coffee and watching the river flow by on a Saturday morning after a hard week of work in the city. What therapy! I always enjoy driving up here from the south and seeing the first set of BlueRidge Mountains on the skyline, just makes you take that long awaited exhale -- like you're finally at home again. Guess I'm a mountain man after all. Ya'll come on over here and enjoy!

Kim Wood purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Kim Wood chose North Georgia Mountains

This area has all of the outdoor activities we could ever ask for plus exceptional outdoor beauty, it also makes a very romantic get away. There's nothing that compares to watching a Blue Herring at the bank of Fighting Town creek hunting trout. They get really big up here, wing span of 6'. The stars above on a clear night will AMAZE you, we even keep a telescope up stairs for you to use if you know how. It is very convenient to the town of BlueRidge, McCaysville, Atlanta, Chattanooga & Knoxville. In the heat of summer it is so nice to wade into what we call our natural whirlpool (middle of the creek there is a 4.5' bowl of water) deep enough to sit on the boulders there and keep your head above water. I've almost fallen asleep there it's so relaxing. We had a renter that said that's about all they did when they were there last June. They call places like this 'God's Country', I can understand why. You really connect with nature up here. I couldn't live without our cabin now that my family has experienced it. We want to share it with everybody! I could go on and on -- the scent of the white pinewood when you open the cabin door, the hummingbirds that buzz by in the mornings, the distant howl of a coyote and her pups. Just Awesome. We love to hike the Blueridge mountains, go riding the 4-wheelers, fishing and kayaking. I'll trade a beach get-away for this 3 to 1.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin sits on Fightingtown Creek which is about 8-10 miles west of the town of Blueridge. Call us and we'll provide you with the address to do a Google map search.

This cabin is located on a short road off of the main thoroughfare to a small gated community so your privacy is ensured.

Guestbook comments from the manager

“We have visited Fightingtown Creek every year in the spring since 2012. We have stayed at River Mist three times and each time it meets our very high expectations. It is the perfect place to retreat from the world and renew your soul. On good fishing days, it can't be beat with the easy access to the river. I caught several beautiful rainbow trout (used a Muddler Minnow streamer) on my vintage fly rod right in front of the cabin! On rainy days, the covered upper deck with a futon is the perfect place to have morning coffee, read or snuggle up under the blanket for an afternoon nap listening to the river and/or rain, or on clear nights, it is the perfect place for star-gazing. The cabin is perfect for a couple's escape from the world. We will definitely return to River Mist. It is one of our favorite places. ”

“This was our 3rd stay at River Mist and it was exactly what we expected AGAIN!! Of course, we have very high expectations and you met them consistently. Appreciate your offering your sweet place for a retreat from the world and for renewal of the soul. ”

Perfect! Plenty of room is this cozy cabin! Great fishing, super clean and so relaxing. Everything worked and the pics are current. The property manager (Kim, I think???) was so helpful and welcoming. Totally recommend!

Beautiful! Well appointed cabin, and Fighingtown Creek is pristine perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Such a peaceful place. We really enjoyed catching trout, and then releasing them! Such fun to catch! The cabin was just right. Blue Ridge shopping, apples at Mercier, a wonderful drive on the mountain roads to Suches! All in all, a great experience.

Incredible Hospitality and Location

  • 5 of 5

I can't praise our generous hosts enough. My truck had a mechanical issue by the cabin, and they were gracious and helpful throughout our stay. The property itself was well-maintained with a scenic view of the creek. My children, 9 and 13, had a blast, playing in the backyard, fishing in the creek (both caught their first trout here), and resting in the hot tub. This is a perfect spot for a small family to get away from the world for a few days. We'll be back as soon as we can.

Perfect size great view

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely loved this place. Home was perfect size for our party and view was just what we were looking. Trout in stream everyday ducks every morning swimming by. Driveway road may be difficult for some vehicles even dry and without snow. I had 4x4 and still slipped some. I would say NO cars

Fisherman's Delight

  • 4 of 5

Main focus of the trip was flyfishing. Well stocked creek and had a great time fishing and catching!

The cabin was just as pictured, comfy and clean. Could have used a little more glassware for happy hour. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed both upper and main floor decks. The cabin is fine for 4 people, but no more. Would recommend this to friends.
