Lovely family holiday

  • 5 of 5

This property had everything we needed for a great family holiday. It was very well equipped and there was many thoughtful touches that we greatly appreciated. There is a lovely sense of space for the whole family, I particularly loved the master bedroom with its tall ceilings and also the reading chair in the hall. The views of the surrounding hills are quite breathtaking.

If we can, we'd love to come again. Thank you for a magical two weeks, and a much-needed break!

Le Marin - Fantastic!!!

  • 5 of 5

From my first enquiry I knew this was going to be a great experience. Clare and Tim replied promptly and very personally and are professional & clearly focused on what it takes to keep guests happy. Having made our booking we were sent an information package and maps to find the house. This was very useful, especially in planning day trips and restaurant visits. This is a great base as within 1-2 hours drive are many sights.

We arrived at Le Marin and just thought 'Wow'! It is located in a peaceful small typical French village, just be aware there are no facilities here apart from a post office. And the church bells ring day & night! In another small village 5 minutes away by car there is a bread shop, butcher, pharmacy, post office and small supermarket. If you need to stock up with supplies there are large supermarkets not far away.

Clare & Tim live a few doors away and visited on Day 1 to check everything was OK. They have lived in the area a long time so have all the information you might need. It's nice to know they are available should any problems arise (we didn't have any!) but otherwise totally respected our privacy.

The house was immaculately prepared and had absolutely everything needed for a comfortable stay. We had been told the pool area would not be open as it was early season so it was a lovely surprise that it had been prepared and it was maintained regularly during our stay. There are pool loungers. The back garden is extensive and has trees and shrubs, a shaded table and chairs by a BBQ (we didn't use this) and another table & chairs on a patio outside the kitchen which is nice for breakfast. The front has a gravel drive for parking and a pretty 'porch' with bench seat.

There is a very large main double bedroom (comfy bed) with sofa and en-suite shower room (great shower!), another double bedroom with bathroom opposite and 4 single beds in the 'loft'.

The lounge/dining area has beams and plenty of seating. A spiral staircase leads upstairs. There are shelves full of books, DVDs and area information leaflets. There is also an electric log effect fire.

The kitchen is a little 'rustic', typical of France, but has everything needed including dishwasher and washing machine. Lots of utensils, crockery, glasses, cooking pots and we were able to prepare & cook extensively having shopped at local markets.

We travel a lot and typically stay in homes, not hotels. This is one of the best & we hope to return. Thank you Clare & Tim

Perfect location and accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Le Marin is an extremely comfortable cottage in a lovely setting. A peaceful garden, full of birdsong from morning to late evening, with its distant views of the changing light over the far hills and the church clock’s clarion tune an added bonus!

Wonderful holiday home!

  • 5 of 5

Le Marin is a wonderful holiday home, combining it's rustic charm with the modern essentials such as dishwasher, Wifi and great shower! It has been thoughtfully equipped to provide everything needed for a perfect holiday. Incredibly comfortable bed (something we don't always find in France!) ensures you sleep well too. We arrived to find a spotlessly clean house and well tended gardens. The view is fabulous, and the whole setting is so peaceful and relaxing.

We went as a couple but would love to return with our grand children who would love the pool and the vast outdoor space.

We would really like to thank Tim and Clare for their hospitality and warm welcome. It was also reassuring to know they were living close by should anything be needed. They are lovely people who obviously work hard to provide a great holiday home. Absolutely one of the best we have ever stayed in!

Gorgeous holiday

  • 5 of 5

When you want holidays in relaxed atmosphere, with beautiful landscape and a cozy home, you should come here. We spent 2 wonderful weeks in this peaceful house with a huge garden and private pool. The Bennetts are a lovely couple, who is always effort to make your time as perfect as possible. You can visit a lot of markets in the sweet villages around, or have a look at the Katarer- heritages in the surroundings, the landscape with the canal du midi invites for walking tours, the lonely beaches are wonderful to enjoy the sea. We were there for the second time now and surely not the last time. We would recommend this holidays to everyone who wants to forget his every day life for a while and needs to fill up energy.

Le Marin is situated in a peaceful medieval 'circulade', Bellegarde du Razes, in the heart of the Languedoc. From the village you can enjoy walking or cycling through the rolling countryside and leafy vineyards.

A full range of local shops is provided by a nearby village and Mirepoix with it's medieval square which hosts a typical weekly French market.

There is much to see and do, whether it be Carcassonne and it's wonderful 'cite', the Canal du Midi, taking a trip to the Mediterranean coast for a day on the beach, ancient Cathar castles, playing a round of golf, or visiting beautiful Toulouse or making a day trip to Spain.

The region is famous for its sparkling white wine, Blanquette de Limoux, and Domaines and Caves are always happy to offer wine tasting.

The nearby Pyrenees provide skiing in winter or walking and hiking during the summer through hidden vallies.

Other activities include white water rafting, canoeing, horseriding, go-karting, mountain biking.
