Why Rona Percy chose Bryson City Area

We have been vacationing in Western North Carolina for years and feel in love with this property. We decided to built a cabin this year and share it with others.

What makes this cabin unique

Love everything the lake has to offer - the swimming, the boating, the fishing, the kayaking, the canoeing, the floating

Love the mountains - hiking, biking,

Love the local mountain towns with the healthy restaurants, funky coffee shops,

Love Asheville - the shopping, restaurants, atmosphere,

Love the white water rafting, the lazy river tubing,

Loved the gold mining (the kids did)

Haven't explored the horse back riding, but heard it's terrific

Guestbook comments from the owner

It was absolutely wonderful! I can't tell you how much fun we had. Your cabin is just the most happy place I think I've ever been too. I loved how light and bright it was and all the little decorating details were so nice. Loved the duck theme. The sunrises are to die for. The kids went nuts over building a fire and toasting s'mores every single evening. And it's close to so many adventures! We were non stop busy during the day- it was great coming back to the cozy cabin for some R & R. Thanks so much! Hope to stay there again!

The Perfect Getaway Vacation for an Active Family (Or Quiet Retreat)

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six (kids ages 14,15,16 and 19) stayed at Sunali Cabin for 9 nights and 8 days. We drove 9.5 hrs from Ohio and arrived late. All directions and access to the cabin were clear and easily executed even in the dark. Woke up to the most amazing view that can only be hinted at from photos. The next 8 days went like this… Sat - Ziplining at NOC, Sun - Pontoon boat rental full day, Mon - Road bike cycling (Dad) from Cherokee to Top of Clingman's Dome Access Rd (Bucket list item) and afternoon swim in the local swimming hole with rope. Tues - Family hike on Appalachian Trail out and back from Clingman's Dome, Wed - Guided Ducky tour with Family at NOC, Thurs - Another full day on Pontoon boat with Tubing, Fri - Rest Day with exploring of neighborhood on foot, dinner and movie in Cherokee, Sat - Dad Cycling event Cherohala Challenge (113 mile ride with 10,000+ ft of climbing) out of Tellico Plains, TN while family had day trip to Ashville, Sun - Drive home.

Fontana Lake is a massive and hidden gem. We are not boaters, but quickly got comfortable with the pontoon boat and tubing with the kids. By day two of boating we were able to really relax and explore the 30-mile long lake and its many islands. Rope swings for jumping into the water are very popular and safe due to the rapid drop off in depth from the shore and our kids couldn't get enough of finding new rope sites and swinging away on them.

The home is well-maintained, has all amenities you would want, and the view is priceless. The only suggestion I would have is to add Wifi, though connectivity wasn't an issue since Verizon service worked very well. I had to upgrade my cellular data package twice to accommodate our iPhoned family...

We had one snafu with the A/C unit on Day 2, but it was fixed within two hours of a phone call to the owner. We were issued a 1/2 day refund without even asking for it!

Did I mention how private and secluded this cabin is? You don't have to be active to appreciate this locale. This is also the perfect spot to sit on the porch with a cold beverage or coffee and read 3 books while the scene below changes with the angle of the sun. Heaven on Earth...

5 Stars all around for the location, the property, value and working relationship with the owners. Would come back in a heartbeat.

Perfect View, Amazing Comfort

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Sunali Cabin over New Years Eve, and could not have been happier. There are so many highlights to this cabin but number one on the list is the spectacular view. It was constantly changing as clouds hung around the tops of the mountains which were well below us, it felt like we were floating in the air, it was so beautiful. The beds were so comfortable and the cabin was incredibly well stocked. The kids absolutely loved the bunk room and the little secret play room up above it, they never wanted to come down. We loved the outdoor fireplace and used it everyday. Sitting out there with the view and the fire was paradise. There is also a little walking trail that leads off from the cabin and we enjoyed taking walks each day. I would recommend this cabin to everyone, we cannot wait to go back.

Awesome property and very attentive owners!

  • 5 of 5

We have rented numerous times from Vrbo and never experienced such attention from the owners. Right from the start they wanted to make sure that their property was going to be a good fit for our trip. They provided a wealth of information that I usually spend a couple hours gathering. Beside that unusual attention to detail the cabin was amazing! The pictures don't do it justice. It's small enough to be cozy but roomy enough to spread out and it's beautifully decorated. The space for the kids is just adorable! The outdoor fireplace and views are the best. We really can't say enough about much we enjoyed our stay!

Amazing House, Amazing Views

  • 5 of 5

Other reviewers mentioned the pictures don't do Sunali justice. They were right! From the moment you walk in you feel at home. The house is very private and the views of Fontana Lake are spectacular. Because there are few houses on this mountain, the stars at night felt so close. We saw three shooting stars in about 10 minutes! Rona goes over and above. If I had to complain, I have two. Our ladies complained that the bunk room beds were a bit too hard for them. The second complaint was that we couldn't spend more time there!

Owner's Response: We're very appreciate of reviews and we are always looking for ways to make our guests as comfortable as possible. We have ordered 2 mattress toppers for the bunk beds. So whoever the lucky kids will be in the future, they will have very comfy mattresses.

Amazing location and wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

We selected this cabin based on the photos on the VRBO listing and they did not disappoint in the least. The views were fantastic, the home was new and fresh, and the nearby activities were fun for our entire family. The home was furnished wonderfully and was spotless when we arrived. The design of the cabin is really well thought out maximizing the wonderful view of the mountains. The deck was the highlight of our vacation as we spent time hanging out and making s'mores nightly.

This cabin is ideally situated for all of the nearby activities. We spent time fishing, zip lining, and horseback riding over our long weekend and the kids had a great time. The bunk room was perfect for the kids. It was too cold for us to go rafting in October but that is close by as well. The owners are very kind and genuinely cared about our visit. At the end of our trip, the kids (and adults) did not want to leave.

Beautiful Sunali Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The Sunali Cabin was everything and more in a home away from home. Just enough rustic features to call a cabin but also having amenities of home that made your stay very comfortable - very well decorated and stocked for your every need.

The view from back deck voided the question of paying more for a cabin verse a room - even in a 5 star hotel. Each morning sunrise was spectacular whether you were fogged in, clouds were lower than cabin in valley or it was clear for 25 miles. The view offered a buffet for your senses over a cup of morning Java.

Not having Wi-Fi in my opinion was a plus while staying here because I am always “plugged in” 24/7 for work and I think it takes away from the rustic beauty/serenity I was actually looking for in a mountain cabin – Kids will not agree with this, but I think it’s good for them to unplug and engage with nature when the opportunity exist.

With NOC (whitewater rafting, hiking, zip lining) 15 minutes’ drive time and shopping 35 minutes away , the cabin is located in an area that works for everyone’s interest.

Truly a great place to stay in every respect

Owner's Response: The way you described the view from the back porch ..."The view offered a buffet for your senses over a cup of morning Java" was perfect. Thanks for taking the time to write the review. For guests coming in the fall, this years foliage is suppose to be one of the best in years. Looking forward to sharing our cabin with other families.
