This was our first time to OBX and it certainly lived up to its reputation. The condo was a peaceful, beautiful retreat. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the beach & pool, riding our bikes, flying a kite or simply catching a movie on the Roku. The views were amazing~ The ocean view gorgeous! What surprised me and captivated me the most were the sunset views each night. Our family would gather on the front deck or walk to the sound side and watch the sun drop below the horizon with the most magnificent colors! Brad was quickly responsive to any questions I had and very professional. The condo is a beautiful place for a family to stay in Rodanthe!
Thank you! You've captured our feelings about Dacotah Hill! We've seen some amazing sunsets there too! It's a great end to a perfect day.
Perfect getaway. Clean, beautifully decorated with everything you need to break away. Beautiful sunrises, beautiful sunsets, steps away from a perfect beach and sea shells. Great location close enough to grocery stores and restaurants. Love this place and will highly recommend! Sad that we needed to leave.
We had a lovely stay in Rodanthe at Brad’s condo. Lovely views of both sunrises and sunsets. Comfortable beds, clean modern decor and beautiful beach. A very quiet time of year (March 12-15); perfect for relaxing. Looking forward to coming back.
I Thought It Was Great
This was a tale of 2 vacations. My mother was cold because the A.C. kept running below the set temperature to achieve a preset humidity that we could not change. She was unhappy because she could not watch the Eagles play or watch live TV or local news. I, on the other hand, was comfortable with the temperature. I do not watch sports or the news. I don't mind ROKU at all. The condo was beautifully updated and I would be happy to return.
If you enjoy getting up in the morning and watching the Today Show with a cup of coffee do not stay here. The Roku TV setup is a joke. You cannot watch any live TV or anything worth watching without paying a fee. When I pay a lot of money to stay somewhere I think cable or satellite television should be included. It only makes sense to be able to watch local television especially when major hurricanes are off the coast.
I was also upset that every time we went to sit on the balcony we had to smell cigarette smoke from the floor below. Not good since my husband suffers from respiratory problems.
The condo itself looked clean upon arrival but soon discovered it was filthy. I don't think the floors have been washed with soap and water all year. They are simply swept and vacuumed. I wet a paper towel and wiped the kitchen and bathroom floor and couldn't believe how dirty they were. The drain in the master bathroom was so clogged it was like taking a bath as you showered. Thanks to my husband he unclogged the drain.
We were very disappointed with this trip since we had stayed at this condo a few years ago. I don't think I'll be coming back.
Thank you. In the future I will provide a more detailed explanation for operating the Roku TV. Roku TV has live TV along with hundreds of channels including HBO, Netflix, Amazon, and Sling. Sling covers all networks like AMC, TNT, ESPN, etc.. There is also a weather channel which broadcasts both local weather and national weather conditions 24/7.
Both TV service and WiFi are completely free. There is no additional cost to the guest. I will do a better job of explaining how to use the Roku system in the future.
As for cleaning, the first sentence in the email sent to all guests two weeks before their arrival states,
"If there is anything not okay about the condition of the condo, please notify the cleaning agency and/or myself immediately. The cleaning agency will correct any problem as long as you let them know right away but will not compensate otherwise i.e. after you leave."
Thank you for your patronage.
Excellent condo and perfect location!
The condo was in excellent condition and provided a very comfortable stay. It was exactly as promised in the listing. The view was spot on being on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the beach. The location is relatively quiet and secluded compared to Kill Devil Hills and other more populated areas of the island, but was exactly what we were looking for in a vacation spot. The beach wasn't crowded and distance from our condo to the beach was a quick walk down a walkway from the property. I highly recommend the rental!
Thank you! One of our favorite aspects of Dacotah Hill is the uncrowded beach. In September, October, March, April, and May, you will find only a handful of people on the beach and sometimes none!
