As far as size, it’s good to accommodate a large group. The host responds quickly as well. Those are the only positives I can think of. The house and the furniture are very dated. The sofa in the front needs to be replaced. It looks (and feels) very dirty. The back is being held up by a plastic pipe. The house is supposed to hold 15 people but there wasn’t enough towels for 15. We had to go out and buy wash towels. We usually clean when we stay at other places but we had to do extra cleaning because there was dust on the counters and stove. The breaker to the refrigerator flipped on our last night there so we had to throw away a lot of food that we planned to pack and bring back home. The house needs to be exterminated. My aunt found a scorpion in her bed. The house is very open. There’s very few blinds for privacy. The bedroom downstairs doesn’t cool off very well either. I think that’s about it!

Owner needs to update

  • 4 of 5

Excellent location with great fishing....however, I had to completely clean the refrigerator when we got there before I would put any of our groceries in it. The icemaker did not work. The shower in the downstairs did not work. I'm guessing that this place once belonged to the owner's great-grandparents because the furnishings were antique (1920 - 1930 era)....Some pieces were quite beautiful, but the owner needs to invest in a new couch, for sure, as it was being held up with a broomstick handle and the fabric was quite worn. We ran out of toilet tissue because there was not any "extra" rolls.

The place is definitely not accessible for handicapped....however,the owner did make this clear to me and said that should not have been in the listing., But I see where it is still listed as handicap accessible

There were gigantic trees all around which afforded plenty of shade until late afternoon. Some kind of large flying insects were everywhere...even in the house. I had never seen them before, but they didn't bite, so we were not too apprehensive in sharing our space with them..

All in all, everyone had a really great time. 5 star rating for location and fishing....3 stars for home.....averaging 4 stars total.

The property is set in a nice area, the house needs a little updating , the couch needs to go, kind of misleading for 15 people, several things did not work. The house was stocked well it's plenty of dishes and bedding all in all is a very nice place to stay

Owner's Response: We're so glad you had a lovely stay! We're very sorry that you felt misled on the size. Our listing reflects that there is enough bed space for 9 people, and while the couch is large, 15 would definitely be a stretch. Thank you for your other comments. We are always looking to improve our guests' experiences.

Outstanding Lakefront Home on Lake McQueeney!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, warm and cozy retreat that was spacious and afforded a relaxing getaway on beautiful Lake McQueeney. The large living area, encircled with inviting sofas, the formal dining room with lakeview and the master bedroom downstairs are great. Two upstairs bedrooms require climbing steep stairs but are perfect for everbody except those with mobility issues. Two downstairs daybeds would provide sleeping accommodations for those unsble to climb stairs and have access to a nice bathroom. Outdoor grill and firepit plus table for six was a real plus. We had a wonderful time. Owner is very supportive. This is a lovely family vacation home!

Great place for a lake trip

  • 4 of 5

It was a great place for a long weekend lake trip. The house sits on a nice part of the lake with a wonderful view. We brought our boat and spent a lot of the time out on the water. When we weren't on the boat, we were hanging out on the very spacious porch and dock which had good tree coverage to keep some shade. The kitchen, dining, and living rooms are all good size to accommodate large groups to gather and hang out and not feel tight.
