Beautiful peaceful Escape
A great escape from suburbia! Loved the setting right on the Greenbrier River trail! No internet... no cell phones! Great times hiking, sitting on deck reading while listening to the river and enjoying all the wildlife! Fall colors were a little past peak but still absolutely gorgeous! The cabin was immaculate, with everything we needed! We cooked all meals there! Grill and eat out right on the deck overlooking the river. Tons of dvds, puzzles and games! Bring your bikes! Great times making memories and only drove into Lewisburg (cute town) 1 day! Just missed seeing a couple bears a bike rider we met on the trail saw next to the cabin! We’ve stayed further north near Marlinton but now found a perfect new favorite location!! Hope to come stay again some time! Thank you for everything!! Reminded me of great childhood times at our cabin in Deep Creek Md long ago!! Hopefully this great secret place stays hidden and undeveloped for a long time!!
So glad you enjoyed your stay! We hope you visit again soon!
Simple and easy process to rent this property. The owners were extremely helpful. The property was perfect. Beautiful, quiet, serene location. Just what we needed to de-stress.
We are happy you enjoyed your stay!
Great cabin for a wonderful get away
My wife and stayed for several days. The cabin is as described, clean, well equipped and very comfortable. AC worked fine and the water tasted fine too. Loved biking and walking on the trail and along the river and eating our meals out on the deck. The only thing I would suggest getting or bring is a small radio. The local stations come in fine. We came in in our Toyota Tacoma 2WD pickup and had no problems getting in or out. Just watch out for the goats, they can appear from nowhere.
The on line listing for this property is on spot! It was almost heaven! The property is private, peaceful and very well kept! Our stay was wonderful and I'm hoping to be able to return!
Lovely location, met most expectations.
The house is great, comfortable, kitchen better equipped than most places we've rented. Clean on arrival, queen bed (only one we used) very comfortable. The extra towels and linens made available were appreciated. The Jacuzzi bath is lacking in that apparently the hot water tank is small and we were unable to get enough hot water to work the jets without boiling numerous pots of water on the stove. And this was after we had not run hot water for an hour or more. Screens on all the windows and doors would be a good idea. There are some, but the ability to open all the windows/doors without bug or animal entry would be nice. The road in could use some work. We were able to make it in and out with our 2-wheel drive Pontiac Vibe wagon, but we're experienced with unpaved roads in that vehicle having done many miles in Canada on unpaved surfaces. We suspect many others would be able to get in...but getting out is another story entirely. We used the house as our base to do the entire bike trail twice (160 miles) by hauling the bikes to a different entry point each day and returning to the same spot later. Starting from the house first day is a great idea. It's pretty easy to do 25-40 miles/day with a minimum grade on the trail. Lots of wildlife around the cabin and on trail and we even had a large black bear run across the trail in front of us a few miles north of the cabin. We encourage others to go north, explore Cass and Marlinton where there is some fascinating history available. Also, there is an IGA supermarket in Marlinton if you're heading north. Again, great house, Porcellas have done a great job. If you see David Workman (farmer whose property surrounds Porcella's) in his yard, stop and talk. Nice guy, and we had good conversations with him.
