Murex Lakes House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, one level single family home

Tropical ground level beach home with heated pool in quiet residential neighborhood on large private lot. The white sand beach is directly across the street.

Call for last minute specials. 28 DAY MINIMUM - DO NOT ASK FOR EXCEPTIONS.

Come sit by the pool and check your email from the shaded pool area. Or pedal through the tropical neighborhoods and see the gardens. Watch the waves roll in and join everyone for the sunset on the beach. Nicely remodeled kitchen, DR, LR, FR and baths! The house is furnished with high quality furniture - this is NOT a 'put your feet on the furniture' type of place. It is for those with a desire for a clean luxurious home away from home. As we like to cook, the kitchen is very well equipped so you are not frustrated with dull knives, a lack of pots or pans, missing linens or kitchen basics.

The property is named Las Ondas, meaning The Waves. Features: one level accessible home (2 steps up to the front door), wireless internet, white sand beach, birding, fishing, shelling and swimming. There are four bedrooms with beds (1 king, 2 with queens, & one with two twins).

About Sharon Mitchie

The owners are IT consultants who like to get away and relax on this tropical island. Keep up with your email with the high speed wireless internet connection in the well equipped office with laser printer/ scanner/ copier. Enjoy gardening, birding and the wildlife. Visit CROW and learn about the animals they rescue.

Sharon Mitchie purchased this house in 2009

Why Sharon Mitchie chose Sanibel Island

The owner's wife came to Sanibel years ago in 1970. She loves this island as there is so much to do: shelling, birding, fishing, swimming, and boating. It is so much fun to walk on the beach and see the dolphins swimming along the shore watching the people.

We bought here for all these reasons plus there is great outlet shopping in Fort Myers Gulf Town Center (near the Ft Myers, FL airport), Estero, FL at Coconut Point and the closer Tanger Outlets on Summerlin Road. Meet interesting people from all over the world who come here to enjoy our tropical island.

What makes this house unique

If you're up early, watch out for the flock of egrets which walk around the house at 7 am looking for breakfast. The dark colored ones are the babies. Pelicans and sometimes rosette spoonbills fly overhead. Humming birds visit the flowers around the pool. Walk across the street to the beach and join everyone watching the sunrise or sunset on the beach. Finish the day with a swim in your pool and dinner out.

Dream Come True!

  • 5 of 5

We are typically a crazy busy family, who runs from one event to the next. My intention for this vacation was to do nothing except relax and that was accomplished! I am a family member of the owner and we only stayed for a week and without charge, but what a week that was! My kids did not want to leave, and I did not want to leave. My 2 younger kids went from playing on the beach to swimming in the pool. And my 18 year old daughter went from laying out on the beach to biking around on the trails to communicating with her friends back home on her iPad with the free WiFi. The house is just beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a great vacation, from beach towels to pool towels to a fully stocked kitchen. Everything was provided which made my son happy because he has smoothies everyday and the blender there works better than the one I have at home! We visited one of the public beaches just to explore but we were very happy to spend the remainder of the week at the beach just across the street for several reasons, no worries about finding a parking space, less crowded, no charge to park, and easy to run home if something was forgotten. The privacy afforded by the huge lot was very nice as well. The kids brought their soccer ball and were able to play outside and run around. Sanibel is an amazing place to visit and if you want to be comfortable there is no reason to stay anywhere else!

Paradise It Is!

  • 5 of 5

My trip to Sanibel was relaxing and private, which was just what I wanted, This property does afford beautiful respite, and when outside (which is where I spent a great deal of time), whether swimming in the pool, reading in the cabana, eating under the nice outdoor fan after grilling a meal or sunning on the chaise lounges and watching the turtles walk by, it felt very peaceful. The furnishings are lovely and I liked the handy bathroom right off the pool. The kitchen had everything I could ever need, which I appreciated. The bed was very comfortable and when my daughter came down she enjoyed watching the Cuban Tree frogs right above the bed in the guest room. You can just bring your clothes and swimsuit and enjoy this clean, well stocked and beautiful piece of Paradise across the street from the beach. Don't miss the sunsets, they are beautiful! Don't miss the excellent library! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Owner's Response: Dear Linda, Thank you so much for the lovely review. We are glad you appreciated the well equipped kitchen, privacy and nice furnishings. We aim to provide a place as nice as we would want our own home to be. Two thirds of the island of Sanibel is dedicated to being a wild life sanctuary. Many animals can be observed that one would not see any where else. The tree frogs are amusing when they perch outside the window as they sleep during the day and 'go off to work' at night. We invite you to come back soon! Jackie

Los Ondas is a great home to rent in Sanibel

  • 5 of 5

Anyone looking for a well equipped rental home on Sanibel, close to the beach, with an easy bike ride to the local Bailey's grocery store, and restaurants, will enjoy their stay at Los Ondas. This home is tastefully updated, completed with all the things you need to enjoy your stay. Even the beach towels were there. You will find plenty of pillows, extra blankets, and soft comfy sheets, too. Water pressure works well in the oversized tiled showers, located in both the pool and hall baths. Los Ondas has an island kitchen with loads of dishes, pots, pans, and a big side by side refrigerator to make storing food, and preparing meals easy. Our family spent most mild Florida evenings outside, in the screened-in pool area. This space is more of an open air chat room, furnished with upscale sunbrella-covered cushioned furniture. Trees are mature and beautiful. You might want to water the lovely bromeliads growing under the massive fig tree. I feel sure they miss their owner's TLC. Sharon and Judy at C2C rental agency are the best! You could not ask for better service. They happily respond to the most minor requests. We have been blessed with the good fortune to both own and stay in some nice rental homes over the years. We highly recommend this property and C2C. Los Ondas is more than just a place to stay, it is a home away from home.

Owner's Response: Our goal at Las Ondas is to delight our guests with all the luxuries of a home away from home. We feel providing wonderful linens and towels and a well equipped kitchen is key to providing a great rental experience. We decorate the house in a relaxing and elegant high end decor. It is great to hear that we achieved our goal of a high quality enjoyable stay for you.

John - Escape from the Frozen Tundra

  • 5 of 5

Wow!! We have been vacationing on Sanibel for over 20 years and Las Ondas is one of the finest rental homes on the island. The pictures acurately describe the many updates that have been made both inside and out. The kitchen, is well equiped for either casual or formal dining. The pool and lanai area provide a private setting for relaxing and entertaining. The yard and gardens are well planted and provide a mini-wildlife sancuary with gopher tortoise, pileated woodpeckers and many egrets. The house was very clean and well maintained.

We love the beach and this house is a short walk (across the street!) from the beach for fun in the sun. Sharon and Judy (the rental agents at C2C) were very helpful and quick to answer questions that arose. For example, when the dryer died, they had a new one ordered and installed in 3 days! The location of the property is a short bike ride to shopping, restaurants and the Ding Darling wildlife preserve.

Las Ondas was a great escape from the frozen tundra this year…We Will Be Back!!

Tropical beach retreat was a really relaxing treat

  • 5 of 5

Loved the nearness to the beach as this home is much closer than we had before - no need to walk far in the hot sun carrying all our beach stuff. The one level living is also nice as we don't have to climb any stairs to get in the house or to go down stairs to get to the pool. The quality of the furnishings made the stay very enjoyable!

Wonderful place to relax!

  • 5 of 5

Las Ondas is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy! The house is very tastefully decorated; the well maintained garden and patio invite you to linger. The house has a nice size pool with views of bromeliads and beautiful old trees. We started our day with yoga by the pool, then a walk on the beach. Often we strolled through the market so we could enjoy local delicacies on the terrace.

The description of the house, activities and surrounding area are absolutely correct. Internet worked flawlessly. One additional point worth mentioning is the Sanibel library which offers library cards for a nominal fee to vacationers.

Perfect for a honeymoon vacation, but also to rest and unwind ... We recommend Las Ondas warmly!
