Don't miss the fall colors! There really aren't words to describe it.
Fall is the time for festivals, hiking the trails, photographing the insane fall colors, tasting the new wines along the wine trails and getting some of the delicious New York apples to take home. There are so many events and activities that you won't be able to see them all in a week. Try some of the local artisan goat cheeses or visit the cider and whiskey distilleries in the area. Take a balloon ride to all the color from the air. It's a great time to be outside!
We recently stayed at the cottage for a vacation with our family to relax and sight see in the area. We love the Finger lakes region and this is a nice location. House was clean, plenty of everything you need for a comfortable stay and private and quiet to enjoy time with family. Also was great the she allows dogs so our furry friend was able to accompany us. Lots of space to play and hang out outside as well. Judy is great about responding to emails etc very quickly. Would return if we make another trip that way.
Inside was adequate; comfortable bed (we used one king), living space and storage space good. A few more cooking supplies would be nice. Outside needed much attention. We understand new siding and windows are ready to be put on, but seasonal rentals have delayed that. The house sits on a large piece of property which is private and quiet. The surrounding area offers much beauty and activities for all ages.
We stayed at Judy's for a family wedding weekend! It was the perfect setting. We were 3 adults, but the house easily would have accommodated more. It was a great central location for us to travel to state parks and vineyards. Judy provided all the information to make the stay easy and to learn things about the house and the area via a notebook with many details. We enjoyed sitting in the back of the house with our morning coffee, and we appreciated that the house was well stocked with the staples that made for a comfortable stay. My husband and I are already checking our calendars for another trip back!
This is my 2nd stay here. It's on a quiet road only 10 minutes out of Ithaca. Very cozy 3 bedroom ranch, very clean on arrival. There is a nice woodstove (with wood provided) that we used, and a small but very functional kitchen area with the basic accouterments for cooking. Beds and linens were comfortable, plenty of towels and whatnot. Not luxurious, but very comfy and functional and a good base for exploring Ithaca and the surrounding area. Wifi worked fine, and there is a nice notebook with info on local restaurants and such.
We were three friends, on our way to a scientific meeting. We stayed two nights at the cabin, only a few minutes' drive from Ithaca and is not far away from many of the parks. We also drove to the Corning Museum of Glass, which is only 30 minutes away.
All the three rooms have comfortable beds. I stayed at the smallest room and it was large enough for me. The kitchen was well equipped, such that we could make ourselves breakfasts. We also enjoyed the living room and were surprised to find recent issues of Science magazine (not sure if they are always there or were there for us as I mentioned the meeting we were heading to). The wireless access was very helpful. Overall, it was an excellent experience and we hope to be back there next time we visit this region.
Judy is a great host. When we travel the wine trails we always stay at her home. It a home away from home. She has everything you need in life there. Always reponds to my emails. We love her home.
There are too many attractions here to list them all. Hiking, sailing, biking, golfing and a trip along the Finger Lakes Wine Trail are favorites for many people. This is a mecca for antique hunters, and anyone with an interest in classical architecture should drive through the nearby Village of Trumansburg with its many historic houses. There are many State Parks in the area, and most of them have glorious waterfalls, hiking trails and many scenic gorges. The Art Trail runs directly past the house and during the open tours it’s a wonderful way to view local artists at work. The Museum of the Earth and the Science Museum are favorites of kids of all ages. Cornell Lab of Ornithology is worth a visit and the entire area is great for bird watching.
There are several live theater groups and great music opportunities for any sort of music you can imagine. Great local restaurants for just about any cuisine you can imagine.
