My husband and I grew up in Clayton. After spending many years living in different parts of the country, we now find ourselves just a few hours away from our hometown. We love sharing the river with our son and are anxious every year for those first signs of Spring.

We would love to retire in Clayton some day.
Until then we enjoy many vacations there.
We stayed at the house for two weeks this summer and enjoyed every minute. We found the house to be perfectly located in the beautiful little town of Clayton. It was very comfortable, clean, and well equipped for vacationers. The house was exactly as advertised and offered amenities that can be hard to find such as air conditioning and a washer and dryer. The in-town location made it possible to walk to shops, restaurants, concerts in the park, or an evening stroll by the river. We will definitely be returning for another stay next summer.
My daughter arrive at 4 o'clock, on the appointed time of our arrival, to put food supplies in the 'frig and found the house just as the last guests left it. Bedsi unmade, rubbish bins not emptied and not cleaned. As we were leaving, the incoming guests arrived to find the house in the same state.
The house is not clean, the oven was thick with grease, ledges dusty, and under the settee we found dirt, bits of paper and two pairs of glasses. One saucepan was unwashed and all the kitchen draws were in disarray. Never have we come across a holiday cottage in such a bad state. All the points advertised about the cottage are true, it is a gorgeous little house in a wondrerful location but we suggest that you u it again before you publish a review saying that it is clean !
We so enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage only two short blocks from town. We had the option of cooking in, or walking to town for breakfast at Bella's on the porch with a water view, and pizza at the local pizzeria overlooking the water. We also could walk to the grocery store, and the location of the cottage was in a nice safe neighborhood. The cottage was completely ready for our arrival, clean and tidy, and had the option of air conditioning if we got to hot at nite. Clayton is such a charming town, with a variety of little shops, and nearby we visited a winery and a distillery. Of course the highlight to the 1000 islands was the ferry ride to Boldt Castle and through out the islands, just lovely. We hope to come back soon!
