Secluded and Homey

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is secluded and homey, and within walking distance of a lot of places of interest. As other reviewers have mentioned, amenities included a fridge with food (snacks & breakfast food) and drinks (sodas, wine) and daily laundry service if needed, at no additional cost (please tip!). The host was personable and chatty, and might've shared way too much off-color family history, but I can't think of a better way to be greeted for a first time in NOLA than with stories of debauchery from decades ago. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Very accommodating

  • 5 of 5

Robert was a great host and was very accommodating. Location is by a bus stop that took us right to the French Quarter and Frenchman St so we didn't have to spend a lot on uber or lyft.

A perfect way to become immersed in New Orleans Culture!

  • 5 of 5

My Boyfriend and I loved the coziness of the place. It is located in an area that is true New Orleans. We especially enjoyed the location. Little cafe's, small shops and quiet homes with lots of flowering trees and plants line the sidewalks. It was close enough to walk to the French Quarter but if walking isn't your thing: you are near public transportation. We did our homework and purchased a 5 Day Jazzy Pass and rode the buses, trolleys and street cars. The area is not without its issues and its important to be cautious when walking in any neighborhood. We did not experience any problems during our stay.

The place itself was perfect. Even though it is an efficiency, it had every thing anyone would need to be comfortable . We truly enjoyed the place. It was clean and the Owner truly went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The refrigerator was full of food and drinks to make things easy. The kitchen was fully functional. and the bathroom was clean and comfortable. The owner was friendly and full of stories and good suggestions.

We were very at ease and happy in our stay at this property. If you are wanting a true New Orleans experience, this place should be on your radar. We hope to return to the Big Easy and won't hesitate to rent here again.

Can't say enough good things

  • 5 of 5

A cozy studio in a restored 1866 house, perfect for a couple. The owner, Robert, is the fifteen-millionth generation New Orleans family and is generous to a fault, providing all kinds of amenities from a stocked refrigerator to toothpaste and toothbrush in the bathroom, to cleaning daily. The Bywater is a great district, artsy and literally colorful, with a mix of upscale restaurants scattered in for the inevitable gentrification. We walked 10-15 minutes to Frenchmen St and the Quarter every day. Robert is the very personification of NOLA relaxed time, long conversation, and sweetness. Real deal, y'all. I'd come back here every time.

Come here to feel part of the city and part of the history of this crazy and beautiful town.

We'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

What a cool little place! A little "mistress's quarters" nook in an 1860s house in a re-gentrifying neighborhood in the Bywater, full of history, and with a very cool NOLA lifer owner to boot. When going to such a strange old city as New Orleans, you just want to experience "the real New Orleans," and staying here helped us do that very thing. Perfect for a couple... everything you need. Cool little private patio too, but the paver stones require a certain walking agility. ;-) This ain't no hotel room, folks. It's way better, and way more unusal too. Thanks, Robert! See you next year, God willing! Tom and Judy
