About William J
We grew up in the Central Valley of California, but we LOVE the mountains! It was a long-held dream of ours to be able to own a cabin in the pines, and after we retired we were able to make that dream a reality.
William J purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why William J chose Tuolumne County
We have cherished photos of 5 generations of our family taken in the Pinecrest Lake area. We love it here and have been coming up every year as a family ever since our children were very small. We had been looking for some time for a cabin to love and we were so fortunate to be able to find this one in 2011. As soon as we drive past the first fragrant stand of pine trees near Twain Harte, we find ourselves in vacation mode. We especially enjoy all the outdoor activities available - from driving over the stunning SONORA PASS to Bridgeport, HIKING around Pinecrest Lake (something everyone should do at least once), taking an easy day trip to YOSEMITE, FISHING in the nearby lakes, HORSE BACK RIDING at Kennedy Meadows, and of course SWIMMING in Pinecrest Lake or Beardsley Reservoir.
What makes this Cabin unique
OUR HUGE FRONT DECK IS ONE THAT EVERYONE WILL ENJOY! It receives just the right amount of sun and shade to sunbathe or read. At night, the stars seen above the trees are a wonder! Although our kitchen has everything a cook may need, there are outstanding restaurants a short drive away. We enjoy the wonderful Italian food at Mia's, the oversized hamburgers and steaks at The Steam Donkey, and driving up to Kennedy Meadows for a mountain air breakfast. If you enjoy horse-back riding, you'll find it nearby in the Dodge Ridge area and at Kennedy Meadows. Twain Harte is 20 minutes away and has great restaurants, golfing and boutique shopping. Sonora is an easy 30 minute drive and has an abundance of grocery stores and eateries. The Sierra Repertory Theater in Sonora offers truly outstanding live productions year round. In the winter months, skiing and snow boarding at Dodge Ridge is minutes away. There are wonderful sledding hills nearby for the younger ones. In the summer you'll be glad to have a place like our cabin to 'come home' to. When the sun goes down, you can savor your favorite beverage in front of the fire or on the deck. Our home is across the street from the Stanislaus National Forest with hiking trails and nature walks. In the evening, don't be surprised to see deer munching near the driveway. Although our cabin sits tall in the trees, it's possible to drive right next to the deck, leaving you with only a very minimal number of stairs to climb - especially convenient when carrying your gear in.

We rented this clean, comfortable cabin for a week in July. We had our two adult sons with us and some of their friends. There was plenty of room for eight of us. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to work with. The barbecue was clean and ready to go and we used it frequently. The cabin is in a quiet neighborhood and we had no trouble with noisy neighbors. It is only a ten minute drive to Pinecrest Lake and we spent our days swimming and hiking. Sue was tremendous, very responsive to any questions we had and ALWAYS got back to us very quickly. Overall, I'd totally recommend this cabin.
Thank you very much for your lovely review! We enjoyed hosting you and your family for a week and we VERY much appreciated the care and attention you showed our cabin.
Cozy, VERY comfortable, peaceful retreat in the beautifu Sierra Nevadas
Really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. When you stay somewhere new, you never really know for sure what you're going to get. This cozy cabin was so comfortable and inviting...I must put a word in about the VERY comfortable beds (better than my own at home!). Everything we could need was provided...so nice to have the beds all made up for us upon arrival. Wifi and washer/dryer were appreciated. The cabin was spotless and decorated so nicely...this was truly a RESTFUL stay. Besides enjoying a BBQ on the beautiful deck, we also enjoyed a fantastic meal just up the road at Mia's. Owners were so helpful and friendly and made the process of booking a breeze. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend!
Served our purpose well
We were attending a wedding held at camp Sylvester and this was perfect distance. The beds were for the most part comfy except for the bottom bunk bed and the downstairs pullout. The upstairs bed (the room without the bunk bed) was where I slept and it was very comfortable. (and I am picky!)
The huge outside deck was my favorite part and like others, we had some fun playing games on the table inside as well.
The other thing to be aware of is the limited wi fi data usage. There is not unlimited access to wifi and we had some young adults who needed that as well as my husband to connect to his work.
A last concern are the scratched teflon pans which are not recommended to use in this condition. Since they have a great gas stove, cast iron would be wonderful.
But over all it was a great place to stay. Very comfy and good energy! I would definitely stay there again!
Thank you for letting us know what you enjoyed at our cabin. We always strive to exceed our guests' expectations! Re: the Teflon pans - there were a couple of older pans, but there was also a nearly new Kirkland anodized full set of pans. We also provided a cast iron griddle in easy view.
We're happy that overall your stay was so enjoyable that you'd return!
Our family had a last minute getaway and thoroughly enjoyed this cabin. Comfy beds, awesome decor and the cleanest place we've ever stayed!
Had fun on Pinecrest Lake, watched the outdoor movies, hiked the trails near the cabin, and came home to warm and welcoming place!
Thank you very much!
CHARMING, CLEAN, GREAT LOCATION
We wanted to experience staying in a CABIN, not a generic hotel/motel and this cabin more than fit the bill! Our family had plenty of room and the kids spent hours on the foosball table and like having their own private TV with appropriate DVDs in the upstairs den.
Beds were really comfortable, linens very nice, and the cabin was clean!
We liked that the owners have a binder with area things to do/places to go/restaurants, etc.
The owners made the whole process really easy.
TOTALLY 5 STARS!!
Thank you SO MUCH for letting us know what you liked about our cabin!
You were awesome guests to host!
We LOVED OUR STAY AT THIS WONDERFUL CABIN
Our family stayed at this gem for a week. We couldn't have been more pleased. The cabin was decorated in lodge like theme and everything was SO clean when we arrived.
The owners were THE BEST throughout the whole process.
We hiked Pinecrest Lake, drive to Sonora Pass and Kennedy Meadows. What a gorgeous drive that was.
The owners left lots of info about nearby restaurants and attractions.
We plan to return!
We love it when our guests let us know some of the fun attractions they enjoyed!
Thank you for your kind review.
A 4 minute walk leads you to National Forest Trails with wonderful views. If exploring the Gold Country interests you, a short drive down the hill will bring you to Twain Harte, Sonora, Columbia, Jamestown and Murphys. You'll learn how America's biggest gold rush started, visit historic buildings or ride a historic steam train.
