About Natalie Smith

Ed and Natalie live in the western Chicago suburbs. Ed grew up in California, is a retired chemical engineer and enjoys golf. Natalie was Illinois-raised and loves making jewelry. We have been married for 28 years with 2 sons.

Natalie Smith purchased this condo in 2006

Why Natalie Smith chose Southwest Michigan

We fell in love with MI the first time that we visited the area. We love it for many reasons, but feel that when we come, we get away from it all and can relax with the beach, ambiance and fun things to do in the area. One of our highlights was picking apples on a sunny October day at Big Dan's U Pick Em.

What makes this condo unique

Off season is our favorite time to visit, to walk the beach and visit all the local restaurants. Restaurants here have to be good to survive. Please ask for our list of favorite attractions!

Amazing Views

  • 4 of 5

We stayed over Thanksgiving weekend with family in and out at various times over the weekend. There was more than enough room for everyone.

The views are amazing, and there is a path to a great beach.

We would recommend this unit for your next vacation. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay as much as we did ours.

There's not a better girls' getaway!

  • 5 of 5

A handful of my closest friends and I spent a long weekend here at the end of August to celebrate my sister before her wedding. The space is conducive to any sort of fun -- we spent full days at the beach (just a short jaunt down the hill), cuddled up in the open area with wine and some good movies, and ventured to South Haven for a nice dinner out.

But what I loved most about the home was the western-facing view. I'm talking a vaulted ceiling with windows the whole way up and a deck on the other side. Every moment we weren't at the beach, we were on the deck. The days started with coffee and fresh lakeshore air and ended with fiery, magenta sunsets. It's the stuff dreams are made of.

Fabulous Condo, Even Better Owner!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this delightful condo for the first week of August. We loved everything about it. This was the first vacation my six-year-old nephew has taken. He cried for the first week after leaving, missing the beautiful condo, the perfect beach, and the wonderful time that we got to spend as a family. Below are some specific thoughts:

The view from the condo is amazing. Additionally, the condo is well appointed with lots of kitchen equipment, plates, and great furniture. My husband and I are from Texas and Oklahoma, so we worried a little bit about how effective the window a/c units would be (we are used to being significantly air conditioned), but the air conditioners were great.

The private beach was really lovely and never crowded. The road down to beach was steep, but I was anticipating from the reviews that it would be much worse. My husband and I are relatively chubby and sedentary (read as engage in basically no physical activity), and we managed to do it with limited effort.

This area is wonderful. There are a ton of restaurants and cute shops. St. Joseph has a number of activities suitable for small children, such as the two children's museums.

Natalie is so wonderful. She is great at communicating. She also thinks of everything. Honestly, she sent us a link of information that was so thorough that it warned us about which Mexican restaurants use only American cheese. I have stayed in many VRBOs, and no other owner was so thorough or so kind.

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here for a glorious week. We loved this place!!!!! The house was spacious and clean. It was nicely decorated and comfortable. All the kids couldn't come at the same time, but we all would have fit. This was the best equipped rental I have ever been to. I brought numerous things from home I thought I would need, but didn't. Fans available for every room. The path was steep to the beach, we decided that was our 'exercise', is well shaded most of the way. One of the neighbors has a golf cart and offered to take us down to the beach. Every one there were so nice. The pool was great and not crowded. The wagon left to transport beach stuff to and from the beach was a great help. The private beach was AMAZING! The views are spectacular! We were a short distance from activities which was good for our 2 year old grand daughter nap times.

There were a couple small things that I would have liked different. But so few. I would definitely come here again!!!

Amazing view, private beach, and great owner

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for our family with 4 young kids. We had actually stayed at this property before in a different unit and that's how we met Natalie. She's the best VRBO owner I've worked with in terms of friendliness, proactive communications, and timely responses. This unit has a full view of the lake and it's a great place to grill and watch sunsets, or gaze out at the lake while drinking coffee in the mornings.

It's a bit of a steep walk down to the beach, but that's just the deal with that part of Michigan. The good news is the path is paved and Natalie provides a handy wagon that we used to haul everything down to the beach. We were able to push a stroller down there and back with no problem, but it might be an issue for anyone with limited mobility. The beach is amazing and there was hardly anyone else there.

The unit itself is neat and clean with a well stocked kitchen and wifi that worked great.

Beautiful sunsets, family friendly.

  • 5 of 5

My family of 10 had a terrific stay. Swimming in the lake from the private beach or in the pool was wonderful. Beautiful sunsets, each unique. Gorgeous view either from the deck or from the bluff twenty yards away. Plenty of room for the little time we spent indoors. Kitchen was very well stocked with plates, cups, bowls, etc. Add to all this, wineries within a short drive --- especially Karma Vista. We spent the evening of the fourth watching fireworks go off up and down the shoreline. It doesn't get much better than that.

Great communication from the owner.

My entire family absolutely recommends this property.
