About Bryan

We fell in love with the serenity, mountain view, and this is a great place to reconnect with friends and family.

Bryan purchased this chalet in 2015

Why Bryan chose Lake Santeetlah

Being here feels like you are in a treetop house, it's secluded yet only a short drive to civilization and tons of outdoor activities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Our stay at the Big Swag was absolutely phenomenal. Not only is it set in the gorgeous Smoky Mountains, but it's very private, spacious, and just cozy in general. Everything about the listing is accurate- the hot tub was AWESOME, the fireplace and firepit were wonderful and kept us warm. The directions provided were definitely needed as there is no service on the road to get out there, but wifi when you get to the cabin! I will add to bring your own paper products for the kitchen, but we were informed ahead of time that we should bring whatever we want to use to cook (olive oil, butter, salt, pepper, etc.) Overall and fantastic stay and it was our friends' first time using Airbnb so my husband and I enjoyed being able to spread the word about it. I kept saying that if I owned a mountain cabin, it would be just like this one. Thanks so much- highly recommend this cabin!”

Great Cabin with Great View

  • 5 of 5

Perfect size cabin with high ceilings, 2 decks and giant windows looking over the mountains. The directions were a little confusing as the address listed on the directions was not the actual address of the cabin. Follow the signs to the Big Swag and you will find it. Also be sure to get the wifi PW prior to.

Loved the peaceful atmosphere, the incredible views, the amazingly comfortable beds and the hot tub!

  • 5 of 5

We never come to this area for anything other than some kayaking on the Nanty. Every time we drive through I look around and think how nice it would be to stay and it not involve kayaking and camping. This cabin was the perfect spot to for this. Close to tons of hiking choices, hot tub and fire pit and tons of out door decking and seating. (Too had it rained so much). Looking around at the exterior of other cabins as we drove in and out it seems to be the most amenable to a true mountain get away. We will be returning with friends in the near future. Thank you Bryan for answering our questions and making sure your place is too notch!

So relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

I never once heard "I'm bored." We spent Christmas here and never even left the cabin. We had planned on doing so many things but we were so relaxed, entertained and happy with spending time as a family that we didn't feel the need to leave. The cabin was clean and well equipped. The king size bed was so comfortable!! The views are beautiful. The trip up the mountain was a bit scary and there was a neighboring cabin closer than I expected, but it was empty. Other than that we enjoyed every opportunity that Big Swag Lodge offered and would do it again.

Owner's Response: Thank you Leslie for your kind words. Please come back in the summer for a visit, the neighbor cabin can't even be seen with the foliage in bloom.

Relaxing &

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time! We have two very young boys & they had so much fun, they were reluctant to leave and still ask when we are going back. The purpose of the trip was an excursion on the Polar Express but we stayed 4 days and never got bored. Plenty of room in the cabin & nice to have the separate play area. We also enjoyed the hot tub every day. Beds were very comfortable - everyone slept exceptionally well which was another big plus !

Kitchen has everything you need, WIFI was very strong. We were able to access our Netflix & Amazon Prime on the main TV and catch up on some movies. Thanks for letting us stay!

perfect cozey get away.....away from it all

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is really nice and very clean. Everything you would expect for if your trying to get away from it all. I would have loved to take advantage of the outside activities such as the fire pit and the Jacuzzi, but unfortunately we were there when the wild fires were and could not be outside long. There are some nice things to do in the area and Bryson City was neat to go to. The driveway going up to the cabin was pretty neat, it seems to be straight up and down. But it is everything that the owner says it is and more, would for sure come back. Thanks for letting us stay there.

Wonderful mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five had a great time at this well-appointed mountain home. A few things come to mind...this home is very spacious and is well maintained/clean. Bryan seems to be making improvements to it all the time and it shows. We enjoyed the many amenities from the outdoor fire pit and hot tub, to the two level decks with great views. So quiet and tranquil too. Inside the home is very comfortable, with great decor and pretty much everything you need. One surprise was the strong WiFi signal in the house...we prepped the kids for 'life disconnected', so they were happy to discover this. Close proximity to Nantahala Outdoor Center and Bryson City (15-20 min drive to each from the home) and there's plenty to see and do all around. We really enjoyed our family time at this wonderful mountain retreat and look forward to returning again and again over the years.
