The home was so comfortable and Lusan made it so easy for us, picking us up at the boat so we had none of that "OMG, where am I and where do I go" angst. I could not recommend it more highly.
A charming home away from home
We enjoyed our stay at Plumrose House. It was an easy walk to restaurants and the main town. Lusan was welcoming and helpful, leaving us to our privacy. Knowing she was just next door was reassuring. We particularly liked the veranda and the quietness of the neighbourhood.
Excellent place to stay.
We spent two weeks at Plumrose. Lusan is a great landlady.
The house is conveniently close to Port Elizabeth and the ferry. The neighborhood, more local than touristy, is very pleasant. There's a small store and also a great bakery about a block away, and the larger stores (Knight's and Doris') in Port Elizabeth are not far away. We usually walked to Lower Bay Beach, our favorite. Princess Margaret beach is busier, especially when a cruise ship is in the harbor.
The house is in good condition and clean. The appliances and kitchenware are old but clean, and there's everything you might need in the kitchen.
We would happily return.
Enjoyed it all!
We stayed for 6 weeks and enjoyed everything! The home is lovely and has all the supplies needed to feel like home. We found it difficult to get off the "porch" because the view was beautiful. The cool breeze of Bequia with lots of windows makes it comfortable for sitting out and sleeping at night.
Easy to walk into town for groceries, and the bakery is just up the road to the right, fresh daily. There is a local beer warehouse just pass the bakery. They let you use a dolly to bring your beer home.
Bequia has many restaurants within walking or a short taxi ride away. The beaches are beautiful and never crowded. The kitchen is well equipped and having a propane BBQ was a bonus. We like to cook and had many delicious meals. The mango tree was dropping fruit daily, so we enjoyed blended drinks, mango salsa or just peeling and eating them fresh!!
Lusan was a great host and was always there if we had any questions. She even cut open the coconuts and supplied us with fresh coconut water. (more blender drinks - lol)
This was our second visit to Bequia and if you like peaceful, relaxing holidays, this is the place for you.
Pick up a copy of Bequia This Week at the Tourism Office to find out where the live music is playing and the dinner specials. It's a hidden gem of the islands.
Bridget was a wonderful guest who is respectful, friendly and easy to host. I recommend her to any other hosts.
We really enjoyed our recent stay at Plumrose. The cottage is conveniently located close to the harbour. It is spacious, clean and exceptionally well-equiped. Lusan was a very gracious and helpful host. A great place to stay.
The Thompson family is very tidy, quiet and friendly. It was a pleasure having them and we look forward to welcoming them back to beautiful Plumrose.
