Alessandro's description of his property is spot on, you can trust it down to the last detail. The apartment is located in a lovely part of Florence; it's just a 15 -20 minute walk away from the city centre and all of its sights, the train station (perfect for a day trip to Pisa) and is just 20-25 minutes by taxi from the airport. Beautifully furnished with all that you could need; free wi-fi, air-con, coffee maker, microwave etc. and plenty of up to date guide books on hand. Not to mention Alessandro's brother who kindly booked our return taxi for us upon our arrival - at 1am in the morning, for which we were very grateful. The mosquitoes do bite though so take a plug in or a coil!
Large apartment very well located. This apartment is propertly cleaned with a garden view on one side. We are very pleased for this holidays and the owners are very very nice. I strongly recommend this apartment and I will not hesitate to come back in this apartment !
This apartment is fantastic and just as described. It feels like home. Alessandro was responsive during all booking communications and Enrico, his brother, was very helpful in showing me the apartment upon my arrival. Everything was very clean, quiet and secure and I can't wait to come back. The floors are gorgeous, the bedrooms are well-decorated and the newly renovated bathroom is great. The little balcony overlooks a garden area and one of my favorite times was enjoying coffee at the kitchen table with the kitchen doors open. The kitchen is well-equipped and the coffee maker works well (very important to me!), as does the wi-fi. Only one warning: keep the windows closed at night. The mosquitoes feasted on me my first night! It got a little warm and there is A/C available, but I ended up just using a little fan I brought with me and was perfectly comfortable. The market is very close, as is public transit with bus tickets available at the corner newspaper vendor. I ended up walking everywhere, though. It is between a 10-15 minute walk to the city center depending on your pace. I found it the best way to see the city. I saw so much more in the tiny side alleys than I would have on the bus. Everyone was very friendly and happy to help. There are some great restaurants nearby but my favorite (recommended by Enrico) was Trattoria Dell'Orto. Fantastic food and friendly, English-speaking staff. Keep in mind that Italians don't generally have dinner until about 8:30ish, so they don't open until 7:30pm. Overall, I loved my stay and looked forward to coming back. Thank you Alessandro and Enrico!
Well organized, nice apartment, fully furnished kitchen and very helpful owners. approximately 15 minute walk from sites we wanted to see. We would recommend. Be sure to understand transportation to the airport-the owners helped us out as we could not get a cab at 9 in the morning.
We spent 4 nights in the Giotto apartment in September and can highly recommend it. We had no trouble locating the apartment and even walked to it from the train station - about a 15 minute walk with luggage and traffic dodging. Enrico met at promptly at the arranged time and showed us through the apartment. The apartment was clean and contained everything you need in terms of amenities. WiFi worked well which was important to our two teenage daughters. Our time in Firenze was relatively short (4 nights) and so were kept busy during the day. We were able to walk to all the major sites and found the best sandwich shop in the world not far from the Duomo - all' Antico Vinaio. All communication with Alessandro was prompt and informative. We would be very happy to stay here again.
LOVED THIS APARTMENT!! My sister & I stayed here for 8 nights and just could not have been happier. Just remember, it's on the "Italian 1st floor" which means two flights of stairs. But you are inside an inclosed area so no worries about weather. The owners brother, Enrico, met us to let us in (2 hrs earlier than normal check in time) and went over all things concerning the apartment ie: how to operate oven, dw, washer, A/C, etc. I forgot to ask about tv but figured it out eventually. We even made sure my iPad was connected to wifi and I was able to contact him directly with any needs. Excellent communication with owners. He also recommended some nearby restaurants, bus stops, etc. The apartment itself was very nicely decorated, very clean and perfectly suited to our needs. The kitchen had everything necessary and each afternoon and morning we opened the doors to get a nice breeze. Clothes drying stand on the balcony came in handy, even brought it inside on a rainy day. No screens on the windows so we had to close them at night (keep out mosquitos). Double glazing on the street side windows kept the noise level down as the apartment is on a busy, 4 lane street and the occasional ambulance. The bathroom was great, even having an extra sink just outside the shower area next to the washing machine. Made it nice for two women getting ready each day. There are a few small shops nearby, including a bakery, gelato (we didn't try it, sorry) and a nice, small grocery store with excellent prices ($4.00 bottle of great red wine!!) within walking distance just west of the apartment across the street. Could buy bus tickets at a bookstore just across from bus stop at Piazza Torquato Tasso in the opposite direction. We did walk to the city center one day and decided the buses are the way to go, especially after walking all day. But it is doable and seems to be quite safe, even in the evening. I don't know if I would walk after midnight, alone anyway. With the buses you can go anywhere, either side of the bridge. We did get on the wrong one sometimes, but were able to get to our destination eventually. And for 1.2 euros for 90 minutes, they were well worth it. Just be sure to validate as we did see some kids get caught and ticketed one day for trying to get a 'free ride'. Check out was easy. Took a few minutes and we were out the door to catch our buses to the airport. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone!!
The house is located in the historic city centre of Florence, in the historic region of 'San Frediano'. From the house you can reach by foot all the important place of the city centre of Florence (Boboli garden 400 mts, Pitti Palace 500mts, Ponte Vecchio 900 mts away from our property).
The rail station of Florence is 1 mile away form the house. Most of the important museums of Florence are very close (i.e.: Palazzo Pitti 500mts, Uffizi Museum 1,2 km,). Typical Florentine restaurant and bar are all at walking distance
