About Anne Boyd
My family has spent many generations enjoying the pleasant surroundings here. The draw varies from golf, biking, sunset viewing or simply relaxing, but the sheer delight of Grand Beach remains.
Anne Boyd purchased this House in 1919
Why Anne Boyd chose Grand Beach
This home is a perfect respite from everyday stress. The spacious front & side porches are great for relaxing. The undulating dunes and the wooded landscapes of the village charm the soul. The area is family friendly. No commercial business is near & no bus stops. The side yard is a large grassy area with plenty of room to use some of the family games stored in the garage.
What makes this House unique
This property offers something for everyone. The electronic aficionado can enjoy the WiFi while his golfing buddy hits the links. Or rent a wave runner or a kayak and test the waves today. The fully stocked kitchen or gas grill makes prepping easy so all can rehash the days events while dining at the spacious table. Prefer to order food? Lots of locals deliver. Then plan the next day's adventures --beaching, golfing, shopping, museum visiting, playing tennis, biking on the trails, visiting the International Friendship Garden, or testing Lady Luck at the casinos. Our home is spacious enough for individual spaces & diverse activities. We provide all types of family games, puzzles, & books.

Couldn’t beat the heat!
Our first impression wasn’t good since the house hadn’t been opened up or prepared for our arrival. After we opened all the windows through the house, we were able to breathe. The house is a Nice older home but could definitely use a little fixing up. The neighborhood however was lovely. The tv was in the living room but there were no comfortable chairs in that room. With no air-conditioning, my family didn’t want to spend the rest of their vacation in the heat without being able to cool off in the water. The biggest disappointment was no beach access close by. We were under the impression we would be able to see the lake but the view is completely blocked by larger homes. We had to walk 4 blocks to walk down to the water which was difficult with my back issues and my daughter’s asthma. We ended up leaving half way through the week.
We are sorry that you were not as pleased as we had hoped. The place was closed up because we had lots of rain. Fortunately that stopped. Unfortunately the erosion has had an impact on the closest beach but we did not know that illness made it difficult for your group to get to the limited beach area. We did not know that you found it necessary to discontinue your vacation. we are sorry that happened.
We really enjoyed our stay. The community is very friendly and the house has everything you need. Plenty of space. The only drawback was that most of the beaches are non-existent anymore. The usable ones are at the very end of the road. A bit of a walk. Otherwise, a great place.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stAy at our place. No one is more upset than we are about the beach! If we could quickly restore it we certainly would. The Great Lakes are very high this year. The best thing is the sand bar is close & has lots of sand.
We hope your holiday was still lots of fun.
Great family home
What a wonderful vacation home. Charming house large enough for our family of eleven including the dog. Everything was there to use all we had to pack was our clothes. The closet was full of clean beach towels. Garage had beach chairs, umbrella, rafts and a gas grill. The large porch was a perfect place to relax and read or nap. I didn't even need to bring a book because I found one I hadn't read in the bookcase, there was even a cookbook. The beach is truly close and the grandkids could go back and forth as they wanted. The Grand Beach community was very friendly when we walked our dog through the neighborhood and she was allowed on the beach in the morning and evening. Shopping was convienent, just a short drive into town. The owner was very quick to respond to our needs and made us feel at home. We loved it.
We are thrilled that you loved our place as much as we do. We hope to see you again soon.
Perfect vacation house!
We just returned from our vacation in Grand Beach last week and had the most wonderful time staying in this home! The size was perfect for our group of 7 and everyone had enough space to spread out and read books, play games or take naps on the porch. The beach was a very short walk away which was convienent as we all wanted to go to/from the beach at different times throughout the day. The kitchen was fully stocked as was the closet full of beachtowels and garage full of beach toys. Every bed was comfortable and one of our group even spent every night sleeping out on the porch to enjoy the cool evening breezes. When we return to this area, we will definitely be renting this home again. Loved it!!!
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay & hope to hear from you if your vacation plans allow!
Great Lake House!
We consider the Grand Beach area of Lake Michigan the best kept secret around! We have stayed in the area for a few years, but this was the first time we rented this house. It was perfect for our large family. It is less than a 2 minute walk to the beach. This house had everything we needed. The kitchen was impressively stocked and we grilled out every night. There were coolers, beach towels, and beach chairs (those are items we don't typically find in rentals). There were plenty of books, toys and kid-sized bikes. We played soccer and bocce ball in the nice side yard, and played lots of board and card games on the nice, big screened-in porch. Our Verizon cell phones worked really well there. Owner was very easy to work with and very accommodating! Although there was no a/c (we knew that when we rented, of course), we considered it as part of the ambiance of a 100 year old house. The house had fans in every room and nice breezes off the water, so we were very comfortable for the most part! We will definitely return but stay even longer next time!
We are so glad that you all enjoyed our home! We order up the lake breezes & wave sounds just to make the vacation complete! We do hope to hear from you again if your plans allow.
Better than Expected
With a large family and a budget, we tried our first vacation rental. Our expectations were modest, yet when we arrived at this quaint, large, 100 year old house in Grand Beach, we were charmed and surprised at how close it was to the Lake (literally across the street). Further how warm and inviting the home was with everything one would need to have an enjoyable vacation. The beach was "Grand" and the sunsets and cocktails were amazing ,(enjoyed from the beach, gazing West or from a friendly neighbor's deck overlooking the lake). You soon forgot you were in the Midwest. Though air conditioning was not in the home, the open windows and stiff breezes made this late July, early August experience quite comfortable, with an added bonus of the sound of the waves serenading you to sleep each night. The lake was very warm and we had the benefit of very calm days, allowing my kids to get in the water at sunrise and pull them out kicking and screaming at sunset. Needless to say, it was an extremely memorable and wonderful 7 days. If you are looking for an old fashion "trip to the shore" this is your place.
I am so glad that your family enjoyed the beach! Having the lifeguard is a real bonus. Having the range of activities in New Buffalo was lots of fun also.
4 Winds Casino is in New Buffalo (3 mi.) and Blue Chip Casinos are in Michigan City (6 mi.), Water sport equipment rental is available in New Buffalo. Natural areas are nearby for birding and observing the natural plants & wild life.
Biking trails are nearby also. New Buffalo has a splash park, a dog park, interesting shops & many local attractions & fests.
Lighthouse Mall and the International Friendship Garden are additional attractions in Michigan City. Local fruits and vegetables are great for both picking and eating!
The nation's newest National Park is the Indiana Dunes, just 8 miles away. Lots of interesting activities & trails abound.
