Burke House’s private tropical setting is a romantic escape set in a pristine nature preserve, accessed by a stone footpath from the beach. Every room is a place for relaxing and taking in the spectacular views north to St.Vincent and south to The Grenadines’ other islands.
Outside, kick back in a hammock in the shade and watch exotic native birds swoop overhead, yachts leisurely sailing out to sea, snorkelers frolicking below, and schools of dolphins gliding through the clear blue Caribbean.
Solar electricity powers Burke House and its ridgetop location, airy design, and large windows and doors allow for a constant, soothing breeze to drift through the house.
The immaculate white sand beach is located a mere 5-minute walk below the property where you can swim or snorkel ‘til your heart’s content. And keep a lookout for parrot fish, sea eggs, puffer fish, damsel fish, conchs, lobsters, schools of sprats and robin fish, and a variety of beautiful coral.
Burke House is luxury laid-back living with the world’s most amazing aquarium as your front yard playground.
I am a local born and raised Bequian. I am in the rental bussiness now for 20 years and love to have guests stay here at Burke House - a little bit of paradise.
Burke House sits on a ridge overlooking both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Burke House is unique because it faces both the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean with an open plan that allows the trades winds to cool the house at all times, Including in the summer when the winds are lighter and the direction changes. Burke House is always cool! The views are breathtaking from all the decks and especially from the shower in the master bathroom. My favorite stop is the hammock on the south deck here I can read or day dream as I watch the sailing boats go by.
My wife and I just returned from our first trip to Bequia. It won't be our last.
Bequia is a beautiful Island. What made our vacation so wonderful though is the place we called home while we were there. We stayed on the southwest end of the small island in a secluded peaceful area called Moonhole. Its quiet and just a hop skip and a jump from the little villages around the Island.
The House we stayed in is called the Burke House. Just an incredibly beautiful stone house built with an open air sort of setup. It has windows and doors that can be closed if it's storming out but you don't really need that option. Some light rain blew through a couple times so we shut the front door for a few minutes but opened it back up as soon as the clouds passed by.
Lusan makes sure everything that needs to be taken care of for your vacation here is just right from Travel tips to getting you picked up and dropped off at your arrival and is always around if anything or any advice is needed either for the home or the Island in general.
Marva comes with the house. LOL. Marva
What a sweetheart Marva is. She is a fantastic cook and that smile on her face and laughter makes the time spent inside the house in anticipation of Marvas next meal a fun time. Marva is also a very helpful person with her knowledge of the area as she was raised just a mile or so away in the Village of Paget Farm. We usually prepared our own breakfast of eggs or whatever but Marva had the bread and cinnamon rolls and banana bread there for us. We did have Marva prepare our dinners though and had so many delicious meals of Lobster or Conch or Pork Chops, Chicken. Marva makes everything taste delicious.
It takes about 2 to 3 minutes to walk up the stone path and steps leading from the secluded Moonhole beach area up to the doorway of the Burke House.
Come and go as you please as you can relax right there in any of the several hammocks or built in sofas or chairs with some of the most amazing views you will ever see from the large deck facing the South towards Mustique and other Grenadine Islands or the North Deck facing the Caribbean and St. Vincent just a dozen or so miles away. The views from every single room in the house are incredible. Right up to sitting on the toilet looking out to the hillside and sea. You could spend a lot of time right there and be just fine.
Water is from the rain and is fine to drink and very soft. The shower gets hot also so no worries about that.
My girlfriend and me spent one week at the Burke House and miss it every day since we left.
Lusan was a wonderful host. She helped us plan two unforgettable trips to Tobago Cays and to Mustique and gave us plenty of good tips around Bequia and St. Vincent. Moreover, she always respected our privacy and, at the same time, was available when we needed her knowledge or help.
The house is beautiful. It is spacious, offers spectacular views to the sea from most rooms and from all terraces. You can also see St. Vincent from one of the terraces, which is a gorgeous view at day and night. The Burke House has two (or 3) big terraces, one to the south, one (or 2) to the north, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bbq. The bathrooms are fantastic, the photos speak for themselves. The simple, but very tasteful decoration lets much space and at the same time offers comfortable seating all around the house.
Another highlight is the privacy you will be able to enjoy here. The next houses are fairly far away, so you don't hear or see others and have the feeling and atmosphere of your own place when you stay at the Burke House.
The way up takes 4-6 minutes from the entrance to the Moonhole community. I admit that it can be quite exhausting on a hot day.
I was hesitating to write a review, only because this place is far too beautiful and I did not want to make it too popular. On the other hand, the Burke House and the people behind it deserve that the message is out.
We hope to be back soon! And we will.
Everyone has a different view of what paradise is , This is mine, a week away from everything except my wife and daughter. You are so removed from any hussel and hassel of life in Bequia that it has no comparison. The Burke House is not foe everyone, but it was sure right for me and my family, If your not a bit adventuresome and out of shape forget it. If you want to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean crashing on the rocks both north and south of you see spectacular views 24/7, a week of being off the grid and enjoying the absolute beauty of nature. After 16 trips to the various Islands of the Caribbean I think I have found my favorite. This is not a pampered trip to an all inclusive resort this is breath in breath out and enjoy!
Burke House is located on a ridge in a private nature reserve surround by tropical trees and cool by the trade winds with amazing view. The view from the master bathroom is to die for! Here at Bukre House the tone is friendly and relaxing, one swing in the hammock overlooking the Caribbean Sea with the gentle sound of the sea kissing the land and the Bequia Black Brid singing " Bequia Sweet, Sweet, Sweet".
