|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Rental from Friday (4 pm) to Friday (noon) Rowboat and kayaks available to rent with your stay (additional fee).
This is the place to make those wonderful family memories! The first thing you'll see when you step inside is the many-windowed wall of the house that faces gorgeous Upper Silver Lake. Walk out of the slider onto huge decks that have many chairs to choose from so you can sunbathe or sit in the shade in comfort. The large, sandy beach is perfect for setting up the volleyball net and playing a game or two. There is a fire ring and a picnic table on the beach. The dock provides a place to fish from or a place to tie up to. Jump off the floating dock (no diving, water is only five to six feet deep). Great Lake for fishing, skiing and tubing. For swimming, please note that the bottom of the lake is soft and not pleasant to walk on after about waist-deep, a typical Michigan lake. HOWEVER, there is a lovely public lot just down our street with a playground and a large, very shallow area with a sandy bottom (see last picture) that is nice for little swimmers. Floaties, life jackets, and sand and water toys are stored in the boat house for you to use. You can rent our 12 ft. Aluminum rowboat for $50 for the week or up to four kayaks for $40 each or $150 for all four (see Rental Agreement).
For family time inside, there are books and magazines on the shelves, as well as board games and puzzles. A toy box is in the living room awaiting curious kids.
The kitchen is fully equipped with pots and pans and dishes as well as baking pans for the industrious cooks in the family. The dining table will accommodate up to 12 to sit together on chairs and benches. There is a king bed in the master bedroom, which has a slider and a private deck overlooking the lake. There is a full size bed in its own room. There are two bunks and a trundle for the kids. In the living room, the couch pulls out for two more to sleep. Sheets, pillows, and blankets are provided.
This cottage is only a mile from the dune park ORV entrance. There is ample parking for multiple cars (4-5) or your dune toys on a trailer.
The Van Huis family has been coming up to Silver Lake from Holland for many years. It is like a second home to us -- so we finally purchased a second home there. Our family usually hangs out in the dunes with our Jeeps. We love the town and the friendly people. Now you can enjoy the unique sights and sounds of Silver Lake. We know you will have a special place in your heart for it once you have been here!
Connie Van Huis purchased this cottage in 2015
The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The owners were very nice and attentive to our needs. We would recommend this cottage. Great location.
Silver Lake has that real vacation-town feel. There is a lot to do! Walk up in the unique Silver Lake Sand Dunes, 600-plus acre dune area where trucks and buggies play on the big hills. Rent a buggy or a Jeep and join them! Head to town and rent a personal watercraft and enjoy Lower Silver Lake with its dunes and beaches. There is a Craig's Cruisers for family fun including Go Karts, a Slick Track, Bumper Boats. There are Bumper Cars to play in, and another Go Kart track just for little kids. Take the zip line for a bird's-eye view. Stop in at Dune Town or other shops in town for unusual things, t-shirts, and toys. Tastee Kreations Ice Cream shop also has the best burgers and fries in town. The Sands Restaurant offers a stromboli that must be tried. The General Store and The Point gas station offer groceries and other goods. Enjoy the endless parade of off-road vehicles sporting their dune flags. A walk downtown is never boring! For those staying over Sunday, we recommend Cornerstone Community Church for a small-church, big-God experience. There are a few really nice golf courses. But just strolling the sun-dappled, cottage-lined streets around the lake can be just the low-key stimulus a stressed vacationer is looking for.
