Why 801# 1 Lavaca Guest House chose San Antonio

What makes this apartment unique

It will take you back near 300 years! Walking distance from the Lavaca Guest House is San Antonio’s B Cycle stand. Rent a bicycle and take a ride along the mission trail. The mission trail is a walking/cycling trail along the scenic San Antonio River. It will take you back to the year 1718 when you visit the Queen of the Missions, San Jose; the Alamo, San Antonio de Padua; and the other 3 monumental missions— Concepcion, San Francisco de la Espada and San Juan Capistrano missions.

Park your car and save on fuel. Alternate transportation is readily accessible—walk, bicycle, trolley or Primo. Primo is S.A. mass transportation system. One or the other transportation can take you downtown, the Riverwalk, King William Historic District, Sea World, Fiesta Texas, the Henry B. Gonzalez convention center, the Alamo and to the other 4 Spanish missions. The first San Antonio mission was built in 1718 by Franciscan friars and Coahuiltecan natives.

Experience a romantic evening walking to the King William Historic District or dining along the Riverwalk. There will be so much to do and so little time to do it all. The key will be to plan ahead.

Location, location, location!

This apartment is centrally located to all major attractions downtown. The river walk is a 10 minute walk and all of the hip bars and restaurants on Presa St are a 5-10 min walk away. Although the apartment itself is a bit dated, it was very clean upon arrival and we didn't run into too many issues on our 4-month stay. The landlord was very responsive to any requests. Highly recommend this apartment for its location and value.

Perfect for what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

Conference center, hotels, riverwalk, Tower, Park, other SA sites not far. Festival was all around but not intrusive to our two block neighborhood. Good restaurants and nice people walking and picnicking. Very pleasant small house, well apointed with what is needed for a homestay away. Thank you.

I'd stay there again!

Comfortable and conveniently located. Maybe a 10- or 15-minute walk to La Villita & the Riverwalk. Even closer to Hemisfair Park. Plenty of parking.

Cute place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 3 nights while attending a convention. The manager graciously arranged an extra night for us which we really appreciated. The house is conveniently located very near the convention center and the River Walk. The house and neighborhood appear run down but the duplex is very clean and decorated nicely on the inside. The guests in the adjoining duplex, who had lived there 4 months, were very friendly and gave us recommendations about restaurants in the neighborhood (which we unfortunately didn't have time to pursue). A neighbor stopped by to tell them he was planning a 4th of July block party for the neighborhood so the area seemed friendly.

My only complaint would be that the photos showed a regular coffee pot so I brought coffee. Upon arrival, I found only a Keurig. I didn't have time to go to a real grocery store and the CVS on the River Walk didn't have K cups.

I appreciated the washer and dryer when my husband was spilled on at a reception. The bathroom is very small so plan on only one person getting ready in there at a time. The mirror in the bedroom was helpful.

We really only slept there. We didn't use the kitchen or TV. But it was an adventure to find accommodations other than the typical hotel.
