Enjoy and listen to the sound of running water in this custom built 3 bedroom, 2 bath house; master bedroom, kitchen and dining area, living room with stone fireplace and mudroom located on first floor. Two bedrooms and a full bath on second floor. House is certified energy efficient and has a zen feel. The house is very open with cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors, custom built cabinets, and lots of natural light. Outside has ample parking for cars and a boat. There is a small deck, fire pit, and custom walkway to house. Washer and dryer in unfinished basement. Located one mile from I93, exit 22. House equipped with wifi and Direct TV.
Perfct NH wedding weekend refuge. The fall leaves were gorgeous during out October stay. The house is charming, inviting in every way. Couldn't have asked for more.
The house was wonderful. It has everything you could need. Great communication from the owner made it easy as well and answered all questions in a quick and timely manner. If you are looking for a house in the area I would highly recommend it.
Our family of four (three adults and a toddler) spent a long weekend at Alicia's lovely retreat. Our plan was to bike at Highland Mountain and the nearby trails, and generally relax, and the Brook House certainly provided the perfect jumping-off point! The house is gorgeous, warm, and inviting, with every attention paid to detail, from the cuddly blankets to the clean and updated cookware and utensils. The wi-fi and DirectTV work well, the climate control is simple and effective, and Alicia and her family are lovely to interact with.
For families, we found the house to be excellent for an active toddler, with lots of open space and easy ways to get the few vulnerable things up out of reach. The yard is lovely, the street is quiet, and the wildflowers are beautiful.
For mountain bikers, Highland is an easy 15-20 minute drive, the Franklin Falls Dam trails (lower impact, but fun for family or a recovery ride) are maybe five minutes down 127, and there's a trail head a short pedal from the house for miles and miles of multi-use (non-motorized other than snowmobiles) double-track. There is access to an uncluttered basement for bike storage, down a bulkhead.
On a biking-related note, we also recommend Convenient Care, right off 93 in in Concord NH, about 25 minutes south of the house, for x-rays. And if your biking plans get interrupted, say by a broken shoulder and/or rain, the house is plenty comfortable to hang out for a few days, and there's lots of other stuff to do in the area.
The home is clearly a place the owner would use for themselves. High end appliances. Clean, nicely set up. Gorgeous. We used it for going to a friends wedding and our babysitter came too. She asked for info about the house because she had a friend who would want to stay. Also comfortable and quiet but very close to the tilton tangier outlets.
I would go again in a heartbeat.
We stay at a lot of VBRO rentals - this was one of our favorites! Beautiful location - peaceful and relaxing. Rental had everything we needed and more! Alicia was fantastic at communicating with us and her house is beautiful - very clean and decor is just enough for a rental property. House is very new and built with great care and wonderful added touches.
We came in for the Timberman 70.3 ironman race and the rental was close to the course but also close to other attractions like the State Parks and Lakes.
We can't wait to come back and visit again!
We rented Alicia's beautiful three bedroom house for five days in early August. Our son was getting married at Long Look Farm and we wanted a quiet place to stay nearby. My mother and brother and a family friend joined my husband and me at Alicia's "Brook House," only a ten minute drive over lovely backroads from the wedding venue. There was a downstairs master bedroom and full bathroom for my 88 year old mother (who needs to minimize stair climbing) and two bedrooms and a full bath up for the rest of us. The living room and "office" were light filled and oh so comfortably and attractively furnished (as were the bedrooms, with super comfortable beds) and the kitchen was well equipped and a joy to work in. It was a treat to come home to this house to relax each night after the hustle, bustle, and fun at the wedding venue (rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception , and then post wedding brunch). We took daily walks or runs on the country (mostly dirt) roads around the house. A car is needed to get to shopping or one of the lakes in the region for swimming, but I could spend many hours happily exploring the area on foot.
Alicia was an excellent host. We communicated both via phone and email and she left basic food stuffs (coffee, tea, salt, pepper, sugar, etc.) and some drinks and snacks for us. We never met in person, but several family members met and talked with her sister, who lives down the road and is available for questions. Thank you Alicia!
The listing description and photos are accurate. The property was super clean and very well maintained, although Alicia explained that she had had a ceiling leak and while the leak had been fixed the cosmetic work on the ceiling was not yet completed. A small thing that did not interfere with our enjoyment of her place at all.
I would highly recommend Brook House as a place to stay and would definitely consider staying there again if we ever find ourselves in this region of New Hampshire again.
Located 2.6 miles from Longlook Farm (wedding venue).
