The kitchen is open to the living and dining area and has all the amenities you need to whip up a gourmet meal. It is warm with sunny afternoon windows letting light pour in. Views of the apple orchards and mountains will draw you to the windows. It is completely stocked with everything you need to make fabulous meals. There is an air conditioner unit upstairs in the living area. Fans are also provided. Open the windows at night and close them during the day to keep it cool in the summer.
We also have an outdoor BBQ so grab some grass-fed beef from Mt. Shasta Supermarket and get your grill on. Sit at the picnic table under the umbrella and enjoy the peek-a-boo mountain view. If you are here in the right months, head to the back of the property for some fresh-picked blackberries and grapes. Please note that the BBQ and yard area are communal and shared with the guests of the downstairs unit. Please wash and return BBQ tools from where they came and clean BBQ area after use.
Coffee lovers, you will love the "cafe" which is stocked with whole coffee beans from our awesome local roaster and a grinder for the freshest morning cup possible.
There are three bedrooms and one full bath, which has been recently renovated with a tiled bathtub and shower. Bedroom one has a Queen bed, the second has a King, and the third features two twins. They are all freshly decorated in Pottery Barn Style with lots of pillows and comfortable bedding, including 100% cotton sheets.
You can walk to several restaurants and also walk to two cafés. Seven Suns, out the door to your right, serves mouth-watering cinnamon rolls and all the fancy coffee drinks. Cross the street and go left and you will find Mt. Shasta Pastry, which offers a full breakfast and lunch menu as well as a magical selection of pastries. They also sell family dinners to go. Grab a lasagna and take it back to The Alpenglow! You are also only a short walk from our favorite local market, Berryvale. I have listed all of our favorite restaurants in the guest book.
On a similar note, the house is centrally located to Lakes Siskiyou and Castle, Bunny Flat, and the Mt. Shasta Board and Ski Park.
The sun just pours into this beautiful home and there is great energy. Come and stay - you will make lasting memories that will bring you back time and time again.

Super clean and comfy!
Very roomy place for our family of 4. Sweet home feeling and nice decor
A great home away from home
We loved the house. It was quiet and pleasant, and very clean.
The kitchen was large enough to cook and have 3 people in it at the same time.
3 rooms were coasy and quiet to sleep at.
We had a minor issue and the owner took care of it immediately!
We plan on coming back next year :)
Great house in great location
This is a great property. Very clean, comfortable. It's in a great location in Mt. Shasta. Walking distance to downtown and several restaurants. Easy on/off of I-5.
This is a good rental with a very well stocked kitchen--perhaps the best I've seen in a VRBO rental! The rental is on the main street about 5 blocks to downtown. The street was quiet from traffic by midnight. The king room is on the street side so if you are sensitive to noise, this may be a consideration. The one thing I found odd is you cannot control the temperature. We had to call Lauren to turn it up and then unfortunately had to call again--very late--to ask for it to be turned down. I am sure she has a good reason for doing this as I cannot imagine she enjoys being bothered over the thermostat.
Very clean and comfortable
We loved staying at this place! If I could give more stars I would. I so appreciate going into a place where everything is impeccably clean right down to providing a new cleaning sponge in the kitchen. Nice!
This was the perfect size for our family of five and it was quiet at night so we all got a good night's sleep. We were able to walk anywhere in town from there and enjoyed going to the bakery and Seven Suns for breakfast and Mike and Tony's for dinner. It is also a great location for getting to the Mt. Shasta Ski Area and hiking trails, etc. Lauren is VERY responsive and was quick to answer all of our questions. Thanks so much Lauren, we will be back. :)
This review made me smile from ear to ear! Thank you so much and please come back again soon.
Wonderful, Cozy Cottage
This was our first visit to Mt. Shasta and we came for a few days of skiing/boarding. This home was just perfect for our family. The cottage is easy to find and centrally located. You can walk to restaurants and coffee shops and it's 20 minutes away from the mountain ski area. The house is bright, spotlessly clean and comfortable and has everything you need for your stay. Lauren has thought of everything to make the cottage welcoming even providing fresh flowers, chocolate and delicious coffee. There is a very comprehensive book providing tips on restaurants and local hikes and places of interest. It's evident that Lauren takes good care of the cottage and absolutely great care of her guests.
