This was our first time renting a VRBO in Tahoe and we were super excited to stay. However, upon first arriving at the house, we found trash scattered in the front yard that we felt obligated to pick up so we were not held accountable. Upon entering the house, we found three different warnings/notes letting us know what we could and could not do. While I understand opening a home to strangers can be difficult and you want them to take care of the place, the ample amount of instructions made us feel uncomfortable as at nearly every corner of the front room/kitchen, there was a sign posted. While the instructions made it clear that we needed to be incredibly respectful of the property, the house itself, nor the front or back yard lived up to the instructions themselves within our first hour there. When we went out back to check the property out, we found additional trash out there. There was no propane in the BBQ, and the fire pit cover was torn, though there was no way of letting the owners know ahead of time and we feared we may be accused of causing these issues. I do not want to pick up someone else' s trash before entering a home as I already will have to clean up after my own weekend away there. I feel this is something that should have been caught ahead of our arrival.
The house itself is comfortable, however, I also feel the carpets had not been vacuumed prior to our arrival as there were chunks scattered about in the living room. I also understand the owner's want to ensure the max occupancy is maintained, but only giving exactly six towels when you are not only staying multiple days, but also wanting to experience the hot tub was frustrating. I personally do not want to use the same towel I dry myself with after a shower to be the same towel I had to use during my time outside. If anything, this should have been noted in the directions that renters should bring a towel. Additional issues popped up: the hall bathroom shower was not draining properly; the ice maker was completely frozen over so we were unable to use; additionally, and uncomfortably for our male guests, the toilet seats leaned so far forward, the men had to hold the seat open while using the bathroom in order to prevent it slamming back down.
Regardless of everything we experienced, I am appreciative the owner's were willing to open their home and we attempted to make the most of our time, however, I would not want to revisit this home on a future trip to South Lake.
No complaints. Everything was as advertised. The location in Meyers was ideal for popping over the pass to ski at Sierra At Tahoe. We'll definitely try to stay here again.
My family loved everything about this rental... the location, the decor, the beds, the hot tub, the games and snow toys. The home was incredibly welcoming, and we spent days playing in the snow then warming up in the hot tub. We certainly hope to return!
We were very impressed at how clean and all the amenities there were. The Hot tub was beautiful and we really enjoyed the deck with the firepit. Was a little concerned about having to pay 250.00 for a towel if we got any makeup accidentally on it. Then it made me a little paranoid about using them for the hot tub. A quick call to the owner and he assured us it was fine to use them outside. I would recommend this home to any of my friends or family.
The property was in excellent condition. My family loved it! Lots of space for my kids to run around. They enjoyed all amenities the place has to offer. Close to everything and yet very serene. Thanks for the wine and different treats. Would highly recommend it. Owner, Steve was very accommodating . Thanks again!
