About the property

Seven-bedroom house, huge covered porch, close to beach.

My grandfather built this house here for a reason! Several hundred yards from one of Rhode island's prettiest beaches, the house has five premier double bedrooms and two attic bedrooms. The deck sweeps around the south and west sides of the house and expands into a 400 sq. ft. covered porch at the southwest corner. 'The kitchen and bathrooms are modernized, but the rest of the house retains the turn-of-the-(last)-century feeling, including a great dining room that seats up to 16 at one table. The house can accommodate up to 14 people.

About The Owner

This house has been in our family through three generations. My brother lives up the road, and my late sister's kids own the place next door. I love swimming and body surfing at the beach, gardening and puttering around the place, and seeing my family and friends.

The Owner purchased this house in 1902

Why The Owner chose Rhode Island Coastal

I didn't choose this house. It sort of chose me, and I have been in love with it ever since it fell to me as my share of the family estate.

What makes this house unique

The sound of surf, the places to walk, especially the beach, the air, the sun, body surfing when the waves are high, the outdoor shower after a swim, grilling on the porch.

a second sink and small fridge in the kitchen, covered porch on two sides which opens into a 350 sq. ft. glassed-in sitting and entertainment space which also serves as excellent play-space in rainy weather, a south-facing uncovered deck that looks straight out to sea, a two-tiered garden visible from the dining room windows. A sheltered terrace on the east side next to the kitchen, large, graciously proportioned bedrooms

A very special oceanfront home!

We have rented this home for 6 years and each year it is like coming home. The house is great for families, large groups and small groups. It is a special home that offers spectacular views and was built to take advantage of a special piece of property. Every night we enjoy the sunset from the large wrap around porch with a great bottle of wine and some apps before dinner. So much to do, biking, kayaking, walks on the beach, or just do nothing at all. Onadune was built to be shared. I have rented other homes in the area and we continue to go back each year to Onadune. And Peg, the owner, could not be more accommodating and we feel as though we have made a very special friend. I travel all over Europe for work but Onadune is still my favorite place.

My family and I have stayed here for several weeks each summer, for the past few years, with a mixture of guests whose ages range from grandparents to babies and toddlers. We have found the place to be wonderful: beautiful views, roomy and quiet accommodations, very short walk to a wonderful private beach with high dives and tide pools for the kids along with lifeguards, great bike riding, an accommodating owner, and an extremely helpful property manager. We could not recommend this place higher for a family looking to vacation in Little Compton.

great weekend

wonderful, large, historic home, full of character. Favorite places were the dining room and the porch, both of which were inviting and gracious. Beautiful views, gorgeous garden, lovely interactions with the owner, who was in an adjacent home. Would happily return with our family.

Wonderful Little Compton / Warrens Point experience

We could not have chosen a more perfect house for our annual reunion with our friends - we had rented in Little Compton / Newport before, but loved the look & spaciousness of this particular house -

it was exactly as described, the location and views are wonderful - the front porch is huge and protected from the on shore breezes by glass windows - we sat outside the whole time regardless of weather. The house was clean, neat and had bedrooms for everyone - the kitchen was fully equipped and the owner was most helpful in all ways - it is super for all ages - our grandkids loved it & we loved that there was room for them to run around, relax on the porch, everything - and Yes, we have signed up for 2013 -

The region is excellent for bicycling. It is a 45-minute drive to Newport and the mansions there. There are also numerous garden markets and small-scale shopping sites nearby as well as the Sakonnet Vineyards winery and another winery in Westport, MA, 10 miles away.
