Location, location, location. Matterhorn Place is located in Flagstaff's iconic, centrally-located Swiss Manor neighborhood. The home lies directly below the lava dome flanks of Mt. Elden with the Flagstaff Urban Trail System and corresponding outdoor activities beginning just a few short minutes away.

Recently remodeled, the property is immaculately clean and tidy. Adorned with special decorative touches, all with a regional flair, you’re family will literally feel “right at home” the minute they walk through the door.

The house is expansive enough and the floor plan so inviting you can have multiple families easily accommodated while not feeling overcrowded or in each others way. There’s plenty of room to go around. The Kitchen is fully stocked and the bathrooms have had the special attention needed to comfortably accommodate a house-full of guests. The bunkhouse is the perfect getaway for the kids by day, and a haunt for the adults by night. Poker anyone? And, it’s perfectly temperate year-round!

The beds, featuring either memory foam or pillow-top construction, are as comfortable as any can be, assuring you all the needed rest your busy time in Northern Arizona will require. The “main floor” bedroom with its bathroom in close proximity and private access to the expansive deck is a sure hit with seniors, or allows for some versatility and privacy if there are several family’s staying together at the same time. The front porch is a great place to chill, providing unprecedented views of the mountains and great people watching as the locals walk their dogs in the evenings. The rear deck is big!, overlooking the flagstone patio area just below. The fire pit in the middle of the patio will warm even the coldest on a winter’s night or provide just the right ambiance as cocktail hour wanes on a cool Flagstaff summer night.

The house is capped at 10 guests. But not to worry, there is a real bed for each and everyone. (The 5th queen bed is a top quality pull-out). The garage and driveway will easily accommodate 5 autos so you’ll never have to worry about being short of parking space during snow season or having a “parking issue” with the neighbors.

The neighborhood:

Swiss Manor neighborhood is known locally as one of the best places to live in Flagstaff. Its central location allows quick, easy access to virtually everything in town, and, to the many natural and cultural wonders of Northern Arizona via all major roads and highways. Easy getting around.

Consisting primarily of owner-occupied single-family homes, Swiss Manor is family-friendly, safe and provides some of the quickest, easiest access to the great outdoors- the primary reasons visitors come to Flagstaff. Access is literally 200 yards away, connecting you to the labyrinth of hiking, running, mountain biking, etc., trails that makes Flagstaff world-recognized. The property’s owners have lived here for 35 years and have stayed in the Swiss Manor neighborhood themselves because of all the neighborhood offers.

To the relief of our guests, you won’t find yourself caught in the noise, congested traffic and university mayhem of downtown and west Flagstaff- and this includes avoiding all the traffic congestion during winter to the Arizona Snowbowl. Back roads, anyone?

But, the beauty of Matterhorn Place is that within minutes you can be in the “middle of it all”, if you desire, and then conveniently return to peace and quiet via local back-roads highlighting the best vantages of Flagstaff’s extraordinary scenery. A fee of $175 will be deducted from the lessee’s security deposit if the property is left in an unacceptable condition.

Love Love Love Matterhorn Place

This is our families second visit to Matterhorn Place (it's becoming our annual family trip!), not only is the home beautiful and kept up, it's within driving distance to old town (with some amazing restaurant options, NAU and about 25 minute drive to Snow Bowl.

Todd and his wife take amazing care of their guests and the house is filled with "little touches" that make you feel welcome.

Our group has 10 people 6 adults and 4 kids (ranging from 5-16yrs old) the house has plenty of room, the first floor game room is a "HUGE HIT" with the kids. Todd keeps the house well stocked with game boards so we enjoyed several nights of friendly family competition.

This house has everything you need! they have thought of everything!!!

The owners are SO easy to work with and are so accommodating , absolutely would recommend this home to anyone (especially families!).....Cant wait to go back next year!

A fabulous house and location

There were 7 of us staying. We had a wonderful time skiing and coming back to the house to relax. There is plenty of space for the kids to play with the down stairs game area. We definitely plan to return.

Perfect for a weekend getaway.

We had 2 families staying for 3 nights. The personal touches provided for the kids was so thoughtful. We had everything we needed except more snow :) This house was a great layout for our needs and had everything we needed. We loved that the hiking trails were so close as well as the grocery store. Would definitely recommend this place and the friendly renters who are readily available for any issues.

Excellent New Year's Stay!

We just returned from a great three night stay at Matterhorn Place. Communication with the owners was excellent every step of the way. Todd also met us at the house upon arrival and was very helpful in sharing information about the house and the area. The house was immaculate and there were many little touches that added to the comfort of the home. Matterhorn Place was very comfortable and perfect for our group of ten (adults and children). The downstairs room was a bonus and the comfortable space was used by both adults and kids. The kitchen was very clean and well stocked. There was nothing that we needed that wasn't right there.

We will certainly be looking to stay at Matterhorn Place again when visiting Flagstaff. Thanks so much Todd and Stacey!

Very modern and well-funished home. Great location and excellent owner.

My family and I stayed at Matterhorn Place for 3 nights in December 2016. The home was very spacious; with bedrooms on both the ground floor as well as the second floor. The furnishings and appliances were very new, clean as well as modern. I especially liked the well-stocked kitchen, which had all the utensils that we needed.

The home had a nice den in the basement equipped with a large TV as well as a Play Station (which my son couldn't stop gushing over). I went to the nearby Flagstaff Mall to get him a second-hand game for $7, and his evenings were pure juvenile bliss. I was also very impressed with the large backyard, which had a calming view of the nearby hills, as well as the comfortable patio.

I'm sure there are many vacation homes in Flagstaff to choose from, but what made me happy with selecting Matterhorn Place was the safe location- with the rest of the town's eateries as well as shops within easy driving distance. It was a plus that the beautiful home was coupled with the warm hospitality of the owner. Todd really went out of the way to personally welcome us when we arrived, and then took the pains to show us everything about the home. I really liked his relaxed and friendly nature. I was truly glad to make his acquaintance.

In summary, Matterhorn Place was very clean, spacious and modern. The location was safe and convenient for all my vacation plans, and most importantly, the owner was a fantastic gentleman. It was amusing that my kids kept saying that the place was nicer than our own home. Those ingrates!

Fantastic house!

We loved staying here. The house was clean, well-appointed with everything you need, and the owner was fantastic. He met us when we arrived and walked us through the house. He even treated the sidewalk and driveway early in the morning when things were a little slick. 9 adults stayed comfortably and there was plenty of room for a larger group. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Flagstaff!

Swiss Manor neighborhood and specifically Matterhorn Place allows easy access and enjoyment of all of Flagstaff, and the surrounding natural beauty of Northern Arizona, like few other areas of town can. Being perched upon the flanks of MT. Elden provides immediate access/ viewing of all things "mountain". "Mountain Watching" from the couch or hanging on the front porch may become a favorite pastime. Matterhorn Place requires a $300.00 Deposit to book your stay. Remaining reservation balance is due 45 days prior to arrival. All payments are fully refundable if cancellation is 45 or more days prior to your arrival date. If reservation is cancelled within 45 days of reservation, owner will retain any paid rental charges and will refund all other fees paid up to date of cancellation(security, cleaning, etc). Matterhorn Place requires a signed contract before confirming any reservation.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
