Elden with the Flagstaff Urban Trail System and corresponding outdoor activities beginning just a few short minutes away.

Remodeled over the course of the past year, the property is immaculately clean and tidy. Adorned with special decorative touches, all with a regional flair, you’re family will literally feel “right at home” the minute they walk through the door.
The house is expansive enough and the floor plan so inviting you can have multiple families easily accommodated while not feeling overcrowded or in each others way. There’s plenty of room to go around. The Kitchen is fully stocked and the bathrooms have had the special attention needed to comfortably accommodate a house-full of guests. The bunkhouse is the perfect getaway for the kids by day, and a haunt for the adults by night. Poker anyone? And, it’s perfectly temperate year-round!
The beds, featuring either memory foam or pillow-top construction, are as comfortable as any can be, assuring you all the needed rest your busy time in Northern Arizona will require. The “main floor” bedroom with its bathroom in close proximity and private access to the expansive deck is a sure hit with seniors, or allows for some versatility and privacy if there are several family’s staying together at the same time. The front porch is a great place to chill, providing unprecedented views of the mountains and great people watching as the locals walk their dogs in the evenings. The rear deck is big!, overlooking the flagstone patio area just below. The fire pit in the middle of the patio will warm even the coldest on a winter’s night or provide just the right ambiance as cocktail hour wanes on a cool Flagstaff summer night.
The house is capped at 10 guests. But not to worry, there is a real bed for each and everyone. (The 5th queen bed is a top quality pull-out). The garage and driveway will easily accommodate 5 autos so you’ll never have to worry about being short of parking space during snow season or having a “parking issue” with the neighbors.
Swiss Manor neighborhood is known locally as one of the best places to live in Flagstaff. Its central location allows quick, easy access to virtually everything in town, and, to the many natural and cultural wonders of Northern Arizona via all major roads and highways. Easy getting around.
Consisting primarily of owner-occupied single-family homes, Swiss Manor is family-friendly, safe and provides some of the quickest, easiest access to the great outdoors- the primary reasons visitors come to Flagstaff. Nine of us stayed for 4 nights in June for an extended family vacation (my wife and I, our two college kids, my wife's parents, a young couple, and a WWII vet). Flagstaff turned out to be a perfect home base to visit the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and (to everyone's pleasant surprise) Bearizona in Williams. Temps in Flagstaff were very moderate. The house itself was perfect for our group...our WWII vet used the high-end sleeper sofa and declared it to be very comfortable. My wife's parents (in their late 80's) occupied the main floor bedroom, which was just perfect for them since their knees don't handle stairs well any more. The house was beautifully decorated, super clean, and very comfortable. Todd and Stacey seem to have thought of everything to make the place right for travelers. Kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and other cooking utensils (very important for us since we cooked and ate in or packed lunches for every meal). The downstairs game/TV room was a real hit, especially with our younger folks. We found our hosts to be very hospitable, giving travel tips and even bringing over freshly cut spinach from their garden. Thanks, Todd and Stacey!
Matterhorn Place, situated in a quiet residential neighborhood at the foot of Mt. Elden, served as the base of operations for our family reunion in early August 2016. Proprietors Todd and Stacey made us feel welcome and were the consummate hosts — immediately there when we needed them and giving us plenty of space otherwise. The property comfortably housed our party of 8 (4 parents and four children). The house was spotless on our arrival and had all the amenities we needed. The back deck was a wonderful location for group meals in the evenings. We were grateful to have such a terrific location for the five days of the reunion and Matterhorn Place will be at the top of our list when we do it again in a few years.
Being a first timer on this site I was a bit apprehensive about renting a house. Staying at the Matterhorn Place was more than I expected it to be. From the get go the owners made us feel more than welcomed and gave us a few pointers about the surrounding area. The property is immaculate and well-maintained. The location of the property is great and close to many things. We enjoyed so much we are going back in December.
Everything was perfect! Our family had a fantastic time in Flagstaff. Todd provided everything we needed for a perfect stay. He provided great tips on local sites and drives. The children didn't want to leave and neither did we. I highly recommend this place!
I cannot say enough great things about this place or Todd. We had an amazing time! This home is very comfortable and cozy. Beautiful view! Todd went out of his way to make our stay memorable. We will definitely be coming back!
We stayed for a week recently while touring the sights in northern Arizona. There are great views of Mount Elden from the north facings of the home. The home is extremely comfortably and we enjoyed returning there after our full day sojourns to Grand Canyon, Page (Colorado river trip), Hopi Mesas and Sedona. Todd and Stacey were friendly and accommodating. Wish there was a Matterhorn Place everywhere we travel and if we come back to northern Arizona this is where will we stay.

Being perched upon the flanks of MT. Elden provides immediate access/ viewing of all things "mountain". "Mountain Watching" from the couch or hanging on the front porch may become a favorite pastime. And the huge deck and backyard area will allow for endless fun and "chill" time- an important aspect of any fulfilling holiday. Hiking, running, mountain biking, and skiing, etc., in the forests of Northern Arizona are world-renowned, attracting Olympic and world-caliber athletes from all corners of the world. Northern Arizona University injects Flagstaff with all things "University", from first-class facilities to activities and entertainment only a vibrant student population can attract. The centrality of the Matterhorn Place allows for all this to be enjoyed easily without getting caught up in all the traffic and noise that can be so prevalent in other parts of town. Matterhorn Place is a peaceful escape after experiencing all Northern Arizona has to offer.

Matterhorn Place requires a $300.00 Deposit to book your stay. Remaining reservation balance is due 45 days prior to arrival. All payments are fully refundable if cancellation is 45 or more days prior to your arrival date. If reservation is cancelled within 45 days of reservation, owner will retain any paid rental charges and will refund all other fees paid up to date of cancellation(security, cleaning, etc). Matterhorn Place requires a signed contract before confirming any reservation.
