Guntersville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Trail's Edge is not just a place to get away from it all--it is located in an area steeped in history, natural beauty, recreational opportunities and within a short drive of some serious shopping and sight seeing.

The newly constructed facility takes its name from a trail that passes through its grounds. In 1838 John Benge led a group of over 1,000 Cherokees from Fort Payne in nearby DeKalb County over Sand Mountain and down to the Meltonsville community. They were on their way to Indian Territory in Oklahoma during what has been termed the 'Trail of Tears.' Portions of the original road bed can be seen to the left of the driveway entrance.

Inside you will find three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious living room with vaulted ceiling. Our modern kitchen features all the amenities, but you may want to do some of your cooking outside in our enclosed facility with both charcoal and gas grills. Next to the outdoor kitchen is a large hot tub to unwind after a busy day of fishing, hiking, or shopping.

Located within a ten minute drive is Lake Guntersville State Park, which offers a splendid, almost aerial view of the area. People from all over the country come here in February to see Bald Eagles, but some of the magnificent birds are permanent residents. If golf is your passion, you will want to tee off at the park's challenging 18 hole course.

Also located nearby are Buck's Pocket State Park and High Falls Park (it features a spectacular 40 foot waterfall). A twenty minute drive will take you to historic Guntersville, founded in 1785. It offers several antique and speciality shops and some gourmet restaurants. The ante-bellum Gilbreath house at 353 Blount Avenue, is home to the Guntersville Historical Society, and is open on Saturday mornings. The Guntersville Museum, on Rayburn Avenue, is open free of charge Tuesdays through Sundays. A few miles south on 431 is Boaz, with plenty of outlet stores for the discriminating shopper. Or, if your interest is 'space exploration', Huntsville is about an hour's drive away. Its Space and Rocket Center is a world class attraction.

But you may just want to sit on the front deck while taking in the natural splendor of this quiet little corner of northeast Alabama.

MUCH needed get away!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I really needed to get away. Our original plan was to go to Mentone, but we were unable to find what we wanted. Finding nothing in Mentone was probably the best think that happened. This cabin was perfect for us. The hot tub under the stars was amazing and the outdoor kitchen was so nice. The outdoor kitchen has a gas grill, charcoal grill, and an outdoor fireplace. We used all three. We will rent this cabin again!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the cabin. It was great! It is "off the beaten path" with limited internet/phone coverage...exactly what we were looking for! The house was clean and well appointed and very comfortable. We will be back!

Needed Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were in desperate need of a vacation; I had just came off an 82 hour week and he worked almost 70, we needed to get away and we found the perfect spot. Not only was in tucked perfectly into the mountains, but it was so clean and well kept. I could not think of anything to describe the peacefulness that we had in this cabin. The owners were also very easy to contact, ask questions (with quick reply) and made sure we had a great stay. The kitchen was beautiful and comes with EVERYTHING you need to cook! The grill area (the man's area as my husband so nicely put) is very nice! Not one great grill but two! and it has a wood burning fireplace! The inside fireplace is electric and has a dimming option if you want to make it even more romantic. The master bath was almost too nice, I did not want to come out of the jet bath tub. The bed was comfy and so were the couches. The hot tub was already turned on for us when we got there and was clean and didn't have any weird smells like some places do. I am not sure what else I could say about this cabin besides we will be back!! Nice touch with the guest book too! We got to read years of happy customers that had stayed at the cabin. I could not be happier with my stay. Well, if I could be there instead of work right now, I would be happier :)

Wonderful and Peaceful Home!

  • 5 of 5

This lake house was so peaceful. We couldn't get over how clean it was and how much it had to offer. We are always worried about our Yorkshire Terrier finding things on the floor when we travel but upon our first look around the house there wasn't one speck of dirt! They also had a Christmas tree set up for us so we didn't have to set up or decorate ours. It was absolutely amazing how having no cell service and wifi allowed us to completely check out and relieve our stress. Not to mention sitting in the hot tub as well as the jetted bathtub! We couldn't of asked for a better place to stay! The outdoor fireplace was also a big hit for us! As well as the ability to cook on a gas grill or charcoal! Thank you so much for such a wonderful place to stay! We will be back and will be spreading the word about this place!

Nice getaway

  • 5 of 5

Great getaway cabin. Well kept and all basic amenities provided (cookware, appliances, etc...). No Cell service, but a short walk to the boat launch gives you excellent cell service. Was too warm and rainy to enjoy the hot tub, but it is also well maintained. Nice outdoor kitchen. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away for a few days and just veg.

Quiet weekend

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted to get away from everything for the weekend. This cabin was just the ticket. It is appointed nicely and the outside cooking area was great. We started a fire out there in the fireplace while slowly grilling our dinner. We found the cabin to be very quiet and relaxing. The owners are very accommodating and super nice folks. If you want to get away from all those emails and cell phone calls, this is the place to do that.
