About Jason

I call Lost River, WV home. I'm here just shy of full time. I work as a nurse at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital three days a week, the other four I try to spend in Lost River.

Jason purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Jason chose Lost River

Nearly every property in Lost River has a great view, but they are all different. When I was looking at properties, I kept coming back to this house. It sits at the base of large ridge (which in part is why I named the cabin Base Camp), while still having great views of the valley and surrounding mountains. I remember walking into the the house for the first time and thinking, "this is awesome." The main living area was completely open, had wide plank pine floors, and the kitchen had beautiful cherry craftsman cabinets.

This cabin is accessible in the winter. During my property search, I rented a couple different cabins on the weekends that I came out to look at houses and quickly discovered that during the winter months, some of the properties are difficult to access, even with four wheel drive vehicles.

Base Camp is the perfect retreat due to its views and location. It is secluded, but close to enough to the main road into Lost River, trails, and restaurants).

Very well appointed cabin in a great location. My girlfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend and it was just what we were looking for. The place is comfortable, quite and picturesque. We’ll definitely be staying here again.

Perfect Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Base Camp was a great place to stay..Jason really does make sure you are taken care of and he has also made sure that you have everything you need (even an electric wine opener) to make your stay fun and relaxing. Remote yet well appointed. I would absolutely recommend this to friends and family.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The kitchen is very well stocked. We also really loved the outdoor spaces. Jason, the owner, was easily accessible for questions during our stay. It was a great location for a long weekend away from DC.

Clean, quiet, and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent five days at Jason's place in Lost River and we were sad to leave. His home is exactly as advertised _ it has a rustic feel but is very clean and modern. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is where you want to go. All the living space in Jason's home is upstairs and the bedrooms are downstairs, which means people can be talking/watching TV on one level without bothering those who may be sleeping in the other. Really great to have three full baths. The kitchen is spacious and has everything you need. We really enjoyed the wrap-around decks on both levels of the house. One end is screened in to keep the bugs out at night. We spent a lot of time out there. We can't wait to go back.

Beautiful Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely stunning home in the West Va mountains. Decor and furnishings are first rate. A beautiful deck surrounds both levels on the home and provides great views of the surroundings. Very modern appointments and upscale touches throughout the home make it comfortable and extremely livable. Close to great hiking and outdoor activities.

2. Big Schloss – George Washington National Forest. A relatively easy hike at only 4.4 miles and 1,000 vertical feet, but one with big rewards!

3. Trout Pond – is one of the most active geological areas in the George Washington National Forest. Challenge yourself to a half-day, 9.5-mile hike through the West Virginia and Virginia mountains.
