Good location

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great time exploring Mt. Desert Island, and staying at "loon crossing" provided us with a good base location to check out both sides of the island. Tim was readily available to answer any questions, and quickly solved any issues. The house was clean, well supplied, and spacious, as pictured, great for our group of 7 adults.

Owner's Response: It was great meeting you and your family Grace. Glad you had such a good time. Northeast Harbor is the best kept secret on the island. Hope to see you again. Cheers

Very good

Location was perfect... house was welcoming. Owner was very responsive to our requests. Only issue was a weak and intermittent WiFi.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. The WiFi was checked out by an IT expert and issues were addressed. Our island's internet suffers during peak periods as it is meant for 5,000 residents and not very large numbers during tourist season. Time Warner (Spectrum) and other providers always have this issue. Thankfully our town's library is located 50 yards from the cottage and can also be utilized. Thanks again and have a nice winter!

Quaint rental near quiet Northeast Harbor, next to public library

  • 4 of 5

I rented from "Home Away" for the first time, so I wasn't sure that what we saw in photos was what we'd get. After talking with the owner by phone, I was pleased and reassured. The rental is attached to another rental place. Serenity depended on the neighboring rental (reason for 4 out of 5 stars). Space includes upstairs (3 bedrooms and a bath) and downstairs (with bath). Since the weather was still pleasant in September, we could use table and chairs on the front porch/deck. We couldn't connect to the wifi; since the owner was offsite, we couldn't troubleshoot. The TV worked fine. The town of Northeast and Marina are slow-paced places to explore. We enjoyed doing that after busy days in Acadia National Park. I would enthusiastically recommend this rental near Acadia.

Great Location!

  • 4 of 5

The furnishings are a little outdated but very comfortable. They had everything we needed for 6 adults and 1 child. The location is great- close to Acadia and Bar Harbor and a short walk to a cute little downtown with ample restaurants and groceries.

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your experience with your stay. Not sure what is dated in the cottage as everything is less than 5 years old. We take the time to analyze and upgrade any items that need to be each year. We hope to see you again. Cheers

NE Harbor - Quiet in mid June

  • 3 of 5

We had a pleasant stay. It was very quiet at Acadia as well. No traffic. House is located very close to the park but away from touristy Bar Harbor. OwnerTim was very nice and accommodating. Home has beautiful wood throughout.

Lovely home in cental NorthEast Harbor

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time ever renting a home instead of staying in hotels while we traveled. To say I was nervous is an understatement. I was looking for a true relaxing experience while we visited Acadia, and I this house provided us that. First and foremost, Tim was very accommodating and understanding of the many questions I had regarding the rental process. In my first email to Tim, I told him that I had never rented a home before and within five minutes I got a phone call. He did everything he could to calm my nervousness, which I appreciated tremendously. I knew from that point I was dealing with a legit homeowner. Even at the last moment, he allowed me to add my small dog to our trip when I initially thought I would be leaving him with family. The property was a perfect size for our party. We traveled with four adults, three teenagers, a three-year-old, and my dog. The two couples each had the same size master bedrooms, so no flipping of a coin was needed, and the teenagers shared a room with ample space and their own beds. We really appreciated the multiple bathrooms when it came time to get ready.

The house itself was stocked with more than what we needed to get by. It had everything! I kept saying to myself how much money I saved by not having to buy all those items that made our stay so comfortable. I have officially been converted to a home renter in my travels!

The area of the rental was central to all the great things the island had to offer. In my initial search, I thought we had to stay in Bar Harbor to be around all the action. I am SO GLAD we did not! We visited Bar Harbor for one day but it was such a busy place that we never went back. It was just full of shops. Besides, all the fun stuff was around us. We visited all the great spots: Jordans Pond, Cadillac Mountain, The Carriage Trail, etc, but also got to go on a deep sea fishing adventure where the captain pulled up lobster pots and gave everyone on board a lobster. We did our fair share of relaxing too. It was very convenient that just a short walk from the house was a quaint little Main Street with stores full of everything we could need. Also, there was a Walmart and a Shaws a short drive away. We ate out sometimes but also made good use of the BBQ grill on the property. Our last day we decided to explore the SouthWest Harbor. I am so glad we did because we got a chance to take a kayaking trip on Long Pond at sunset. I told Tim we will DEF be back again! THANKS TIM AND FAMILY!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words Angela. I'm glad you and your group had such a great time here in Northeast Harbor. It really is a gem that very few first timers even know about. I am so glad we chose to live here and not in Bar Harbor since it is nice and quiet here and Bar Harbor is just 9 miles away, and accessible by the free Island Explorer bus service. We look forward to your return. Cheers
