As an avid cyclist, athlete, triathlete, and traveler Kona has become my second home and spiritual retreat. While not cycling I am busy educating students in the California Community Colleges and raising a teenager, two cats and a dog. I'd like to welcome all to my second home.
Stacey Kayden purchased this condo in 2012
I chose a condo in the Kanaloa complex because of its beautiful tropical surroundings, its proximity to amenities, and its convenient access to numerous adventures and relaxation.
We just returned from a week at Turtle place. I can not even begin to describe how nice the place is. Traveled from the east coast for a week on the Big Island. We have two boys ages 13, 11. Prior to our trip we had narrowed it down to about three vrbo places. We decided to stay at turtle place because we liked the location. You are 5 miles from downtown Kona and less than a mile to a grocery store and about 30 mins south of Kona airport. We talked to Stacey prior to booking and she was very sweet and informative. The condo has everything you could want: beach towels, snorkel gear for family of four, boogie boards, umbrella, cooler. Top floor has king sized bed, nice bathroom and shower and sweet porch to drink your coffee on in the morning. 2nd floor has living area, kitchen, another lanai, 2nd bedroom with private lanai. Lots of space. Kitchen has more than you will need and a welcome basket awaited us full of Kona coffee, fruit, and candy. There is no air conditioning but plenty of fans. We were gone most days from 10a.m.-8 p.m. I was hot the first night... but, think I was just a mess from our 14+hour travel day. Outside temps were low 80's during the day and low 70's at night. If you are someone who likes air conditioning and plan to spend a lot of time during the day in the condo then this place may not be for you. We explored the island...put over a 1000 miles on our rental jeep (highly recommend) and had the vacation of a lifetime. We swam with dolphins in Kealakekua bay, snorkeled with turtles at Punalu'u Beach park, snorkeled "two-step" (boys favorite), snorkeled Kapoho tide pools. Jumped off the cliffs in South point (scarey), saw hot lava at Kilauea volcano. Spent a day touring Kohala coast beaches (where Marriott Waikoloa is). We are SOOOOO happy we did NOT stay or rent in that area...highly commercialized, chain restaurants, "fake" beaches. I do not think that is true Hawaii but if you like pools, big resort feel, you may like it. The last day we drove to Waipi'o Valley and my oh my what beauty! We did the drive to the left of the lookout which requires a 4 wheel drive and nerve...highlight of the trip...waterfall, wild horses, huge waves at beach...crazy beautiful. We then continued on to Kahuna Falls, Umauma Falls and Akaka Falls. Had dinner at a low key Mexican restaurant in Hilo and Jack Black was in the restaurant eating...my boys got a kick out of that. A fabulous vacation! Thank you Stacey! Maholo!
We had 7 people in our group. We enjoyed the kitchen and laundry facilities. Everything was well stocked. Fans were great,AC-would be better!
We loved the
Beach pool and BBq grill, able to enjoy dining with a view!
It's close to the Sheraton where we went to a luau.
Walking distance to some shops.
Views of the beach, sounds of the ocean!
We would use this property again.
This property was great. Very clean. Very nice decor. Full compliment of everything you need: full kitchen with nice cook ware, boogie boards, etc...
When we were there, there was a dengue fever issue on the Island, so we didn't spend a lot of time on the deck. But the living room deck has a nice view of the bay. Not a sweeping view of the ocean, but plenty nice.
The ocean view pool is next level nice.
The condo is 5-10 minutes drive from Kona.
Dealing with the owner was an absolute joy. That in itself would be enough for me to re-book here
I'm not one throw around a 5 star rating lightly, but this was definitely a 5 star stay for us.
I'll be checking back next year for my return trip to the big island.
Beautiful and very well accommodated condo in a perfect location. A great place if you want views, sounds of the ocean and plenty of amenities!
As part of a 'round the world' trip, I met my brother at Stacey's wonderful condo and enjoyed a fabulous week there in early March, 2015. Stacey has gone to a great deal of trouble to decorate and fully equip her home in order to appeal to both the more mature holidaymaker and to families. She has also produced a very useful guide to the island, which we used to help us to decide which areas to visit and which restaurants to try. We hope to return again because Turtle House is such a comfortable home from home and in an excellent location.
My wife and I stayed at Stacey's for a month and had 2 daughters, a son-in-law and grandson join us for part of the stay. The place was perfect with great views off all 3 lanais, well stocked kitchen, well stocked beach locker including, chairs, coolers, snorkels, masks and fins. My wife had never snorkelled before so because the gear was there to use I now have a fanatic as we booked 3 snorkel adventures and used the many snorkel beaches almost daily. Since we were there during US spring break the 3 pools including the adult only pool were a welcome luxury Because this was our second visit to this condo development we knew the local area well and took advantage of good restaurants and the many farmers markets for inexpensive local produce. We also got the chance to explore the island in more depth, particularly the snorkel areas and agriculture areas
We had a great time and will return whenever we can and have told Stacey that we would love to share her Hawaii home again when we do
