Overview

About the property

Close to Niagara Falls, downtown Buffalo, museums, restaurants, waterfront

Come enjoy all that our region has to offer and stay in this great apartment. There are two bedrooms, one full bath, with additional sleeping on a trundle bed in a sun room, a dining room that seats 6 and a fully equipped kitchen. Our place is fully equipped for your stay & within walking distance to the coolest neighborhoods in Buffalo!

The apartment is the lower in the house, and provides one off-street parking space and a back yard with fire pit, table/chairs, and hammocks for your use. Apartment features hardwood floors, central heat/air conditioning, and lots of space for your use.

Laundry is located in the basement. Towels and all bedding provided. Kitchen has microwave, gas stove, fridge, toaster, and coffee maker. There are essentials in the kitchen such as coffee/tea, sugar/honey, condiments, jams, butter, and almond/cow's milk - if you require other foods, there are four grocery stores within a 2-3 mile radius of the apartment.

Guests enter the private apartment through an entrance that is shared with the upstairs apartment, which is also a short-term rental. Guests have access to the entire apartment, basement laundry, and backyard area with fire pit, hammocks and grill. There is also one off street parking space available, and additional parking is usually not a problem on our residential street.

We live next door and are always around to talk to guests about our city and give recommendations for places to go, restaurants, etc. We own 8 houses on the street, and our tenants and neighbors are very friendly. You will find the "17th Street Commune" - as we call it - to be very fun and inviting!

About Becky Powell

I'm a lawyer and property investor in the City of Buffalo. Although I'm originally from Georgia, I've called Buffalo home for 25 years. I own multiple homes on one street in the city and my partner Carl and I have worked since 2010 to make them beautiful. Our goal was to provide wonderful places for people to live and to create a community in our little part of the world. We want to share it, and our awesome city, with people who want to come visit us.

I love to travel myself, although I stay a little too busy to do it a lot. By having visitors from around the world, I can experience one of the best parts of traveling - meeting cool people - without leaving home!

Mixed feelings about our stay, but overall very nice.

  • 4 of 5

I stood with my family for only two nights in the lower apartment. The apartment itself is very nice, spacious, and clean. A bit chilly for my liking. The owner did mention a few times to contact her anytime to adjust the thermostat via remote. However, I left a message at the wrong number. Obviously that was not her fault, but my oversight. The apartment upstairs was occupied by another family with children. The noised from the children running and playing vibrated throughout the downstairs apartment. When I finally did reach out to the homeowner at the correct number, she was very accommodating and quick to respond to our needs. Would I stay again? Definitely, but next time I think I would book the upstairs apartment instead to avoid the noise all together. I am sure it could have been an isolated incident specific to the renters above, and not a regular issue as I did not read that in any of the other reviews. Other than that, the place was everything we needed and more.

My niece and her family enjoyed their stay very much.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was a perfect fit for my niece, her husband and their 3 little girls... Plenty of room... each girl had their own space...the location was easy to get to and travel from - to The Falls and other places... we went to Rochester and spend the day at Strong Museum of Play... of course Niagara Falls on both sides of the border was a must as was a visit at night to see the lights...

All in all - this was the perfect plan to have my family here - close to me - yet not intruding on anyone's personal space.

Will definitely do this again when they come back to see Buffalo and The Falls.

Thanks, Becky!

Comfortable apartment

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is great. There is much more room than the pictures show. The apartment is clean and well stocked with everything you might need, even the kitchen was supplied with some food and the use of the laundry area was great. The temperature was set perfect. Easy to get to and easy to get in with direction from the owner. It is a great alternative to a hotel. The location is close to many eateries, breweries and supermarkets. The apartment is on a quiet street, close but not too close to the interstate. Becky responded promptly to any questions I had. Thank you Becky

cozy apartment

  • 5 of 5

This our first stay at this awesome house. We recently also stayed in the upstairs apartment in January. This apartment is bigger than the pictures show. It is very cozy and clean. The kitchen was stocked with a few items that you can use.....almond milk, cereal, coffee, sugar, butter, etc. Spacious dining area, good size living room with an additional room attached with trundle bed in it. Two bedrooms, one double, one king size. Beds were very comfortable. Could comfortably accommodate 3 couples. Landlady is very accommodating. Close to lots of great restaurants and shops. I love this apartment, along with the upstairs apartment! Will definitely be back again, and again! Thanks Becky!

Very nice stay!!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is awesome!! There is so much more room than the pictures show. It's much bigger in person. The apartment is clean and well stocked with everything you might need, even the kitchen was supplied with food which made making breakfast the next morning pleasing to everyone!! And having coffee at our fingertips was great!! It was just like being at home!! The temperature was perfect! (we were actually too warm in the night). Easy to get to and easy to get in with direction from the owner. The only thing I was confused about was the trundle bed. There was nothing to pull out underneath for another bed. Even so, we would definitely stay here again! It was a great alternative to a hotel (which were all booked or terribly expensive) and us and our friends were all able to stay together! Thank you for a wonderful time!!

Our house is near an area called the Elmwood Strip, you can walk there from the apartment in about 5 minutes and then walk for about a mile up Elmwood Avenue where there are various restaurants, shops, bars, etc. At the end of the Strip there are three wonderful museums, the Burchfield Penney Art Center (features WNY art), the Historical Museum (featuring all kinds of Buffalo history), and the Albright Knox Art Gallery (has a world-class modern art collection). We are also 20 miles from Niagara Falls and 7 miles from the Buffalo Niagara Airport.
