Overview

About the property

Located in the heart of wine country on the shore of south Lake Leelanau, this stunning 4 BR, 2.5 Bath home features panoramic views from every level.

Previously featured in the Showcase of Remodeled Homes, our home has enjoyed consistent “5 star” reviews since being introduced in 2012. As new owners, we look forward to improving upon an already fabulous Leelanau escape.

The updated open-concept kitchen and living areas, plus outdoor dining on the upper balcony and lower patio ensure gorgeous water views whether you opt to dine indoors or al fresco.

Outdoors, you’ll enjoy 120 feet of private, firm sandy bottom Lake Leelanau frontage. Spend your days boating to Leland, floating on a raft, or sun bathing on the dock or sugar-sand beach area. The lake is shallow at the shoreline and for a good distance out, making this great area for supervising children’s summer fun. In the evening, two fireplaces (one on both levels) or the bonfire pit provide the perfect accompaniment to a bottle of wine or s’mores.

Sleeping Bear Dunes, the Leelanau Wine Trail, and unbeatable biking, golf, hiking, fishing, dining, autumn splendor, farmers markets and boutique shopping provide endless nearby options away from the lake. Welcome to Leelanau, the “land of delight!”

Master Bedroom: King Bed plus an en suite master bath

Bedroom 2: Queen Bed

Bedroom 3: Queen Bed

About Heather

My husband and I fell in love with the Leelanau Peninsula years ago on a spur-of-the-moment trip "up north." We spent the next several years exploring ever inch of the peninsula. When South Shore House became available, we knew its location and views were unbeatable. We're so excited to share our dream getaway with you!

Heather purchased this house in 2015

Why Heather chose Lake Leelanau

The lake house is perched on top of a gentle hill which maximizes the views from every level.

What makes this house unique

The living areas on both the upper and lower levels allow kids to have their own space. In the evenings, adults can continue to converse upstairs without disturbing sleeping kiddos.

Highly recommend!!

Lovely cottage with a great view of the lake. We came in the fall to enjoy the changing of the leaves and were not disappointed. The cottage is spacious, modern with all new features, a great stove and access to all the things to do in Leland and around Lake Leelanau. Extremely clean! We loved it and plan to return.

Updated, private, amazing views, close to adorable lake towns

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here! The house is updated and gorgeous, but still has a cozy lake-house feel. We were 2 min. away from a smaller portion of town (by the narrows that connects North and South Lake Leelanau) and has a couple great restaurants, small grocery store and a cute coffee shop. (Get pizza from Dick's in town and do a tasting at the distillery). There is even homemade pie shop and a nice winery you can dock at by the narrows.

We were also surprised to realize that our house was within 10 minutes of many other waterfront towns: Sutton's Bay, Northport, Leeland. They each are each on the water, have nice shops and plenty of icecream and restaurants. My favorite coffee shop is Bees in Sutton's Bay.

Another highlight is the biking! We biked from Sutons Bay to Traverse City on a great paved trail. It was our first family ride with one kid in a trailer and one attached to my husband's with a trail-a-ride. Sutton's Bay Bikes will get you hooked up and were so sweet; even to new riders. It was an awesome experience. Many places to rest if needed.

We also rented a pontoon boat, additional kayak, and Jetski's, from the RV park that is only 1 mile away. They were very affordable and had nice equipment. Book in advance with the boat, though.

The dunes are close by as well. Even if you aren't a hiker, go to see them. There is a mapped-out drive called the Pierce Stocking Drive that will take you to 12 points of interest and you can get out at any of them. Stops 9 and 4 look like the Caribbean ocean. Go to the visitors center for a map.

We can't say enough how amazing Michigan and all of the lakes are. The water is clear land beautiful. You can see to the bottom from the dock. Our kids could touch by the dock. The bottom is sandy, but you may want water shoes due to some drift wood.

The house came with 4 life jackets, a kayak, and a SUP which was a huge bonus.

I corresponded with the owner, Heather several times. She was very easy to work with and pleasant.

Overall, this area is the best combination of water sports, hikes, biking, relaxing by the fire pit and enjoying the amazing view. Our family will cherish the week we stayed.

Great Lake rental for the kiddos

  • 5 of 5

Great house for a group. The kids especially loved the property and sandy "beach". Can't beat the view from the deck. Heather was a great host and checked in on us and gave recommendations.

The house was the perfect one for our family. There was something for everyone.!

  • 5 of 5

This house was a great location. Everyone in our family of 9 found something they enjoyed. Fishing was great, sand box and fire pit for kids, wineries and golf all very nearby. The weather made the trip. We had beautiful 70's all week. The only complaint we had was the WiFi service was pretty non-existent except for early am. Everyone pretty much unplugged for the week but it made it hard to call places for information such as restaurants. The lake view is fantastic but there is a short period in the morning that you cannot sit on the couch because of sun location. I am sure this depends on time of year. The overall trip and house was wonderful and our family made some great memories that will be treasured. We enjoyed Lake Leelanau, Sutton's Bay and Traverse City. We would definitely return to this area. Heather gave us information on local eateries, wineries and golf. The home was very clean and many amenities provided.

Beautiful home, will definitely return

We had an annual girls weekend and rented this home to stay instead of the usual hotel! We had a great time, plenty of room to sleep, loved having all the beds and rooms. The view was amazing! We will definitely be returning.
