This is my childhood home, nestled in the hills of Eastern Kentucky. It is filled with memories of family and friends, of sleigh rides down snow covered hills, grapevine swinging, crawdad catching, hiking , and motorcycle riding good times . It is a peaceful, natural environment filled with the sounds of water rolling over the creek rocks, crickets, frogs and birds chirping. Mountains on all sides with unspoiled views of nature. We want to share this peace and serenity with you for a day or a week. Rental is fully furnished and accessible. Pack a bag and leave the hustle and bustle behind and prop your feet up on the porch, drink a tall glass of sweet tea and let your worries fade away.
This is a comfortable country home decorated to honor my parents lives, style, loves and hobbies. My sister was born with cerebral palsy and has physical challenges so this home evolved in many ways to accomodate her needs so we welcome guests with physical challenges and hope they find it as comfortable and accessible as we do. The outdoor space has many quiet nooks but also some family play areas for basketball, badminton, corn hole, and horseshoes. Our property extends behind our home to the top of the mountain , so feel free to enjoy a hike to the most beautiful mountain top vista you can imagine. Careful it is steep terrain and there are wild animals and crawling critters!
Large L shaped living room with Flat screen TV, DVD player with many DVD's available. ROKU device with netflix. Plenty of seating with couch that has 2 recliners built in , a reclining love seat and an over sized recliner plus an additional 3 chairs. Plenty of room to add extra quests with floor space to accommodate an inflatable mattress or two.
Front bath has a roll in shower with handheld shower head and a shower chair is available upon request. All the towels you need are included.
Kitchen includes microwave, gas oven/stove, coffee pot, waffle maker, toaster, bread maker, countertop grill, all the cookware, utensils and dishes you would need. Dishware for everyday as well as some nicer china, wine glasses and linens for a more formal meal.
Dining room seats 8 at a large oak table. There is a large cushioned window seat for any extra visitors or for a restful nap.
The den (sunflower room) has a sofa that converts to a full size bed, a recliner and a propane fireplace.
The Master bedroom has a queen sized bed with tempurpedic top, end tables and a armoire and closet to hold your necessities. An additional TV is held in the armoire but will require the ROKU or DVD player to use.
The second BR is just off the Master and there is no door dividing them as this was my disabled sisters room and my parents wanted quick access from their room. This is perfect for small children or a single adult as it has one twin bed , a chest and dresser as well as a small closet. There is enough room to add a crib/pack n play/or bassinet.
The third bedroom has a queen sleigh bed , chest , dresser, nightstand and large closet. Minimal floor space in this room and the doorway is smaller so this is the only room not handicap accessible.
The second bath has a large whirlpool tub, single vanity, toilet and washer/dryer.
We had a wonderful weekend staying there. Everything was great!
A mid October visit here watching the leaves turn was amazing. The property was beautiful and the house provided all our wishes
Had a great experience. Enjoyed the solitude. Big enough for me and my family. Hope to stay next year.
There were 13 of us. We all had plenty of room. The house was very clean and well maintained. Perfect in the mountain setting. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit and grill along with sitting on the porch with our morning coffee. We are all talking of coming back next year! We would certainly recommend it to our friends.
