If you love the mountains.. we are just a short 45 minute drive east to the Little River Canyon National Preserve & Falls (U.S. Park Service), DeSoto State Park and the charming and quaint mountain village of Mentone all on the top of LookOut Mountain. From there you are not far from vibrant Chattanooga with it's historic downtown, awesome restaurants, the Aquarium and Ruby Falls.
Rather go west with a trip to Huntsville and visit the U.S. NASA Space and Rocket Center, great shopping and terrific places to eat? Only 45 - 50 minute drive gets you there. Our falls are beautiful.. so what are you waiting for?
Proud to have served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam flying AH-1G Corbra Gunship Attach Helicopters. We spent many years with major restaurant companies locating new sites and then moved to Central Florida and developed shopping centers for major retailers. Came to Alabama to enjoy the four seasons and Southern hospitality.
Toby Hardy purchased this house in 2007
Fell in love with Northeast Alabama after twenty years in Central Florida and found our vacation lake home on Roseberry Bay in Scottsboro.
Peaceful and Quiet.. Great place to unwind and decompress.. Breathtaking Sunsets..
Our visit to Hardy's Hideaway was nothing short of amazing! Although we didn't get to spend as much time on site as I would have liked, our time there was relaxing, peaceful, and very comfortable! I knew how many beds and bedrooms were in the home, I knew most of the amenities, but I was not prepared for how perfect everything was!!! It was honestly like the Hardy's lived full time there, and merely vacated for the weekend!
The home was fully stocked with all of the extras that one would need and want, plus more! The cabinets were full of spices and cooking extras that you would want when preparing meals at home, but you would forget to bring or buy while on vacation. There were plenty of towels for all, and plenty of blankets and linens. I even took the telescope outside one night to do a little stargazing. All of the beds were extremely comfortable, or so I was told; I know the master bed was. The house was spotless from beginning to end. The Hardy's take a great deal of pride in their vacation home, and it truly shows.
The layout of the house is very unique; I found myself "lost" a few times. Lol
The whole weekend was absolutely wonderful thanks to the Hardy's and Hardy's Hideaway! We are all looking forward to next year's Alabama race-cation!
Thanks again, Mr. Hardy!!!
A group of us met together to do some missionary work close to Scottsboro this was a very nice home to come back to. Clean, nice view and amenities. Owner was very helpful with minor issues involving batteries and coffee maker. We would love to stay here again.
We celebrated our mothers 60th birthday and had family from California, Oregon, Minnesota, Indiana, Georgia, and Alabama meet at this beautiful home. We researched many places and we could not be more happier with our decision! The rooms were HUGE! We had 16 people staying together and there was so much room. We were even all able to eat together in the kitchen/ dining room area!
The kids had a BLAST fishing! If you LOVE TO FISH...this is the place!!! We caught so many fish every day!! It was an amazing experience for all the kids (and the adults!) The gas station/convienent store is only 4-5 minutes up the street, and Walmart and restaurants are only 10 minutes away. We did have Bubbas Silver Spoon Catering come and set up breakfast and dinner for us which made it very nice!
Toby and his wife were so sweet and made the experience even that much more memorable! We can't thank them enough!! Before, during, and after our stay they made sure everything was taken care of. Upon arrival they had a nice card and a cheese and cracker platter waiting for us...along with many other things! If we didn't think of it they had it! Words just can't describe how much fun we had and what an enjoyable, relaxing experience it was. We couldn't have been more happy with our stay!
We do know we will DEFINITELY be back!!!!

This was a remarkable place for our family. There's so much room in the home and its furniture with everything you would ever want or need. The sunsets are remarkable! Beautiful backyard allows much room to play any outdoor sport. Enjoyed sitting around an open fire pit at night roasting marshmallows. The neighborhood is so quiet and private. Great place to spend a family vacation!
This really is a gorgeous, well-maintained home, inside and out. 13 members of our family stayed at Hardy’s Hardaway for 5 days in July and every one of us had a great time. The home was immaculate and beautifully decorated and there was plenty of room to spread out. The bedrooms were arranged adequately for our needs, and there were plenty of games and movies to keep our family occupied. We did a LOT of cooking and found the kitchen well stocked with everything we needed. Parking was more than adequate to accommodate our 6 cars.
The huge backyard was lovely with plush grass leading down to the lake. Swimming off the pier was fun for our little ones, and we also enjoyed taking our chairs out to the pier after dark and relaxing on the water. Toby recommended a place where we could rent a pontoon and some jet skis, and our group had a great time exploring the lake. We continuously marveled that we practically had the lake to ourselves during the week, a real perk during the heart of the summer. Activity on the lake did pick up on Saturday, but even then it was never overly crowded.
We rent a large house every summer for our family and this one is one of the best we’ve found. Toby and Susan did everything possible to make our stay outstanding and they certainly succeeded. The best endorsement I can give this rental is that we would LOVE to return next summer!!!
My family spent our fall break at this beautiful home and loved every minute of it. The house was very clean & spacious. The pictures does not do it justice. The owners are beyond helpful and friendly. This was truly one of the best weeks on Guntersville Lake that everything was perfect. I highly recommend this home for anyone wanting to get away. Again, the home is beautiful, clean and the level yard to the water was priceless. I plan on coming back to Hardy's Hideaway. Thanks Toby & Susan for a wonderful week. Hope to see you again soon!! (Adalynn & Blake thank you also)
