Whisper Mountain Retreat family reunion/get away
Our family gathered from Ohio, Columbia, SC and Nashville, TN to enjoy a quick Labor Day get-away. Lucy was very helpful with directions and access. The home was well appointed with lovely views. We did have one issue that required a service man. It was addressed immediately without inconveniencing our vacation. While it was a 30 min trip into Asheville, it was definitely worth it. We would definitely consider this property again if it is available.
Beautiful, peaceful home
My family enjoyed are 3 week vacation in this home. The overall vision and atmosphere of the home was just lovely. It is definitely in a beautiful picturesque setting sourrounded by the mountains.
I did not realize how far out the home was from the city of Asheville (about 35/45 min drive), but in any case there were plenty of grocery stores within a 20 min drive. Also I was unaware that the home was not completed. The entire basement and guest house are unfinished. This did not effect our stay, just something that was not mentioned and I was unaware of. I was also unaware that there was no garbage pick up...as we had to depose of our own garbage about 3 miles down the road.
A few things we encountered during our stay that could need some attention.
1. The AC went out on us for a few days. The downstairs was alright but the upstairs was roasting. The AC had frozen over. At one point the AC man did arrive and we were able to get it fixed for the remainder of our stay.
2. The hot water seemed to be spotty. At times it would work just fine and then at other times it would take 5-10 min before it would start working.
3. One of the upstairs bathrooms seemed to have a leak in the bench seat bc when being used water would leak down into the master bathroom.
Besides these things the house really was a great space to have a multi family vacation. We really enjoyed the grill and the yard for the kids to run around in.
