Welcome to the beauty of southern Italy! I discovered this area while living overseas and immediately fell in love with Calabria and the relaxed way of life in southern Italy. I work in the field of education and lived abroad for 8 years. I lived in Milan, then moved to the United Arab Emirates, then moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Southern Italy offers so much for those who love to travel and want to experience the true local flavor and beauty of the Italian culture.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2007
I fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and the ever changing light of the sea. Scalea is between the Naples and Amalfi coast region to the north, and Reggio Calabria/Sicily region to the south. Scalea has a fantastic old town with wonderful cobblestone walkways curling through the historical town. My apartment overlooks the old town and the remains of an 11th century Norman castle. From the balcony you can see the old town, the mountains and the beauty of the sea. I never stop appreciating the beauty of this vista at every time of day.
My condo is about a 15 minute walk to the beach and restaurants are close by. Wandering the old town is charming as well as exploring the many fantastic towns along the coast and mountains. If you enjoy exploring, beaches, hiking, or simply enjoy watching the sea from the balcony, it is a great place to stay.
We spent 1 week in Scalea in this nice appartment (nothing missing, well furnished)
It has a nice view on the old Scalea and on some of the mountains.
A great place to stay for those wanting to discover the National park of Pollino.
Sorry for the late posting but I wanted to let the owner know that we enjoyed our stay even though we had to shorten it by a few days. She offered to let us tack those days onto our next visit which was very generous. We will return!! The views were awesome. The location is great for viewing the water and the old part of Scalea. The walk into town is manageable.
My aunt and I spent 2 weeks at this cozy apartment and we enjoyed every moment! The owner has thought of everything to make one's stay comfortable. Her personal touches speak for themselves...
Some days we did not leave the balcony as the view is 'perfectly perfect.' Mountains, sea and the old district...We read and/or soaked up the sun/view...
We especially liked hearing the church bells and watching the lights come on in the evening...
We loved the local wines, cheeses, tomatoes, garlic, pasta and bread. Oh everything was so fresh!
And exploring centro, perhaps going out for dinner, fabulous gelato for dessert, strolling the beach during the day...
Great location for day trips to the surrounding hills and villages or nearby beaches and towns.

The apartment was everything we needit. The view from the balcony was awesome we enjoyed evrey dinner on it. Scalea us a nice little place. You have to take stairs to reach the city or the beach but if you are fit its nice to do some walking . We liked all the information at the apartment and the nice welkom from Anna who handed the keys, git more information about nice restaurants . We visited the centro storico a few times and we love the narrow streets. Every morning we took our cappuccino in bar Genova where the wifi and the cappuccino was excelent.
