Property is located close enough to all you will need in the Monterey area. Kitchen stuff (pots, pans, flatware) is rather dated and needs to be upgraded. Beds, baths, dining and LR are good. No Dishwasher. Dining table is very small for 3 bedroom house and but plenty of room for a bigger table. Seating area in LR is also small but the room large. Driveway is on a serious slope. The house needs a serious cleaning as it is a shoes on place. Its location is very wooded so therefore spider webs and such are present. Caretaker/owner was very accommodating as we needed a coffee machine and it was there in a few hours. Overall it is a good place and if the kitchen stuff got upgraded we would certainly return in 2020.
As I expect from another one of our exceptional guests a candid and fair review. I do need to leave instructions for our Italian dining table since it extends to accommodate 8 people comfortably. Again, we always appreciate feedback from our guests so we can make our home that much better for future guests.
Future renters- read others reviews!
This was one of the worst vbro we've ever stayed at, we left early and will definitely not return.
Wow, what a surprise! Firstly, I'm irrate with VRBO for posting this baseless slander. I'm a s/w engineer that helped start VRBO when is was a company with integrity (pre-expedia). I complained to VRBO when I saw this awful review. They used to have a customer service that spoke English as their true mother tongue and would hold-off from posting 1 or 2 star reviews until they heard both sides. Basically, their customer service is a foreign entity and does not understand saying something awful without siting facts is baseless. I'm sure they'll censor my reply but I hope it gets their attention. Now, onto the review response. This guest requested a booking last minute which I rarely approve. Although this guest pleaded with me so I caved. FYI, I send extremely detailed arrival instructions regarding property (3 pages with pics) and my VRBO listing also gives an accurate description of the property. For future, maybe I should ask guests questions about my property as reading a comprehension test. Well, evidently this guest never ready my arrival package email nor did guest respond to receiving it as requested. I sent it twice and so did my caretaker. So when guest arrived guess what? Guest didn't know how to access the property and was probably annoyed that there was no lobby/office to open the door. So he had to contact my caretaker which meant that he did receive my email with all the info. This guest is from the flat lands so he must of been surprised because my driveway is on a hill as described in my VRBO listing and in instructions. Guest needs to know how to drive backwards down a hill or backwards up a hill to get in and out of the driveway. Because of my home's location, many of our guests park their car and walk everywhere. My home is in a private alcove as described but you need to carry your luggage down some stairs. No, there's no elevator. Carmel does not have street lights so it gets quite dark at night. But if guest would have read the arrival info, they would have known where the lights were. The first or second night the guest managed to clog the toilet and thought if they kept flushing, it would clear itself (I guess not). Again, guest called caretaker to clear toilet and caretaker discovered guests used many the provided towels to clean the mess on the floor (our poor careteker!). Also, I think the guest may have run into one of my neighbors because he parked in neighbors spot. Again, if guest would have read the memo he would know where to and where not to park. After this guest departed my cleaning crew found empty luggage(s) and abandoned items as if my home was their dump. My cleaning crew had lots of fun cleaning caked on dirty toilet. Whenever I get a problem guest it really takes all the fun out of sharing my beautiful home. Luckily it only happens once ever 4 years. Unlike this guest, my sourness only goes so far. I hope this guest did have some fun, not! Please read my property's description in VRBO and be prepared to answer some questions. Although, I found the guest's lack of detail actually says a lot about the guest himself and that it's not his first slanderish action.
Great place for family
We really liked the property. It was attractive and comfortable, and our young grandchildren had a ball.
Beautiful home in a beautiful town.
Second time staying here. Great home and Steve is a pleasure to work with. Thanks!
Awesome place for a group to stay. Being able to spill out on the patio and enjoy the grill and firepit was very cool. It was close to EVERYTHING and we enjoyed our stay. Not too many negatives to note. Pantry space for guests food is needed, internet only partially worked and trash should be removed between guests---racoons had trash everywhere! Other than that it was amazing!
Charming home with a magnificent outdoor area.
A few scary spiders but it’s in the middle of a forest so that’s understandable. Overall it was clean but mid week clean towels would be appreciated. We were able to wash our towels thanks to a washing machine being on site. Master bedroom mattress was very uncomfortable, but all others were fine. All in all, my family enjoyed their stay.
