If you are looking to clear your mind, this is the place to do it!
The house and setting is beautiful. We had the the most awesome time staying at this house, and cannot wait to come back. If you like walking it's a delight and refreshing.
This house is a real jewel. It is located at the edge of the mission trail. A great walking loop is down the trail to the Mission, then Santa Lucia to Scenic Rd into town. The house was clean, modern and spacious. Parking is about 100 yes away on the street unless you park on a steep slope in front of the garage- but it was no problem. The patios are big and private, looking over the woods. The house was better than described, making my first rental through VRBO a success. i highly recommend it to anyone.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us for a great family vacation! We walked or biked everywhere in town and to the beach easily from your home -- all except my 86 yo mother who we needed to drive due to the hills around your home---but that is also true of Carmel in general downtown. On my he other hand, my much more fit 83 yo father did just fine walking to town from your home, and he liked the challenging exercise! The ability to all gather together every evening and sit outside in the spacious seating and enjoy the back yard while eating dinners together was a highlight of our trip! And there was family of raccoons (and many playful squirrels) that live in the nearby forest, and we loved watching them with their three babies scamper around seemingly unnoticed. Wonderful home! Great location! Thank you again! We would love to come back one day!
The house was charming and the owner was very helpful with his directions and email responses. The parking was not a problem--and worth it, as the great location allowed me to park the car, stow the car keys, and take charming, easy walks to the market, the beach, the nature area, and into town. Something for everyone to enjoy! The outdoor areas were a great place to have our meals; and we had fun playing Clue, which we bought at the local toy store, in the Jungle room. I do recommend finding the house in daylight, as it is located on a spur of 8th, and at the end of the little road. We had such a sense of privacy, even in a residential area. The house was very welcoming and we really appreciated the little touches- fresh flowers on the table and a bowl of mandarins to start off our stay. The plug-in air fresheners were a bit much, but we unplugged those. The days went by too quickly-we hope to return in the future. We recommend Bruno's Market for sandwiches and groceries. Very friendly staff and great food/wine selection. Our trip to Pfieffer State Beach was a treat as well.
My little family of 5 had a lovely time just relaxing around this beautiful home and enjoying the gardens and peaceful sounds. Although the home is really nice and modern for Carmel standards, we cooked and ordered our meals but ate most of them outside using a different spot each night. We had asked the owner about dining out side and noise before we booked. The owner kindly told us about numerous places to order great take-out and about the myriad of places they have setup for outdoor dining. They just recently added a deck so guests could relax, eat and listen to waves crashing as the sound is funneled through Carmel Mission Creek. It's amazing! We walked to town and and even bought groceries at Brunos. We made one mistake which I'll pass-on; We flew into Monterey airport which was perfect but we picked up a rental car. Once we parked, we never had to to drive it again and the airport is literally only 10 min max away. We'll definitely be back!
Beautiful home, well suited to our needs. On arrival parking appeared to be interesting, as the allocated parking space was on a fairly steep slope, but providing you follow the instructions to reverse in, this was fairly easy to master. The pictures accurately portray the property. We enjoyed sitting in the garden for lunch, especially when it was sunny. Easy short walk to the local shops and restaurants. The property backs on to the Mission Trail, which is a great place for hiking. We would highly recommend this property, and if we return to Carmel, would definitely stay here again.
The good: This home is nestled beautifully into a tree filled ravine with lots of great patio space. The home was nice & clean. We loved the 3 bedroom/3 bathroom layout for our group. The bad: The home didn't feel that welcoming to us. Notes were left to remove shoes and not let our luggage hit the walls (we always use care with the homes we rent, just seeing these little notes made us not feel very welcome). The biggest challenge was getting in and out of the home, via car. The home sits at the bottom of a very steep, crooked street with cars parked along the side. The only way to get a vehicle down the street is to back down, and leave your car outside of the garage (there is no driveway). These logistics made it very difficult to unload/load, with one vehicle let alone multiple.
