We loved the home! The pool and dock were wonderful! We used the kayacks for an extra charge. The stairs are loud but we didnt mind so much as we had teenagers up there. The extras made it feel like home!! I wish every home was as well equipped as this one. We did bring our table top gas grill as we knew it only had a picnic grill. Beautiful property! Great fishing off the dock! Made some wonderful family memories here!
We loved the location of the home as it is near the State Park, and the lot was fantastic. There were plenty of linens provided and the inside of the home was nicely decorated. We had six adults, and 3 small children with us. The house is advertised as three bedrooms but the loft is just an open loft with beds. This is NOT a 3 bedroom home. The loft doesn't have a closet, and there is no privacy for dressing and if anyone else in the house is awake, there isn't any chance of staying asleep up there. The stairs to the loft were so creaky it woke everyone in the house anytime we went down them at night. We had planned on the couple with the small children using the loft, but since it was an open balcony and open staircase, we gave up the master to them and took the loft as we were concerned for the children. The pool light went out the first day there, and they worked on it for two days. It still wasn't working when we left, which meant no night time swimming, or swimming while they worked on the pool. Then the dock light went out the 2nd night there. It was also not repaired by the time we left. That made night fishing a little more difficult but we managed. None of the bedrooms have ceiling lights, only lamps which weren't controlled by the wall switches. The shades on the two bedroom windows offer no privacy for dressing, and when people are out on the back deck, they can see right in. Most of the pool furniture was cracked and worthless and the deck furniture was torn and run down. We also shared the house with quite a few centipedes and other bugs and then we had to contact the rental company about sewage coming up in the yard. Not once was an apology offered for all of the issues. We enjoyed our trip, in spite of these things, and will continue vacationing in St. George as we have in the past. This was not the home for us, and we feel that our money was not well spent on this choice. It might be a great home for two couples and some teenagers, if they work out all the issues. Not a great house for small children.
Our family has stayed at Ambitions at Bay three times and it remains our favorite vacation spot for many reasons. The home and the location are absolutely perfect for our family of 7: fishing off the private pier just steps away from the back deck, a private pool to relax in, under-house parking and storage for our bikes, a grill for barbecuing, an outdoor shower to rinse off in, an amazing master bedroom and bath that's private but still close to the kids, two fridges and an open kitchen/living space, a huge upstairs balcony for our 5 kids to crash, plus another bedroom for my wife's parents. We use the two 3-person kayaks everyday whether in the ocean to follow dolphins and surf the waves or our other favorite activity which is paddling to the small island on the bay side and finding hermit crabs. The location next to the state park gives us a sense of privacy and seclusion. We're an active family as well and it gives us miles of asphalt and gravel roads to bike, trails to run and explore and a huge variety of wildlife (this past year we saw osprey, bald eagles, loons, herons, an owl, a box turtle, frogs, lizards, etc. all from the back deck). Town is still close by and an easy 4-mile bike ride on the bike path for ice cream for our kids (ages 1-12). This home has all the amenities and the perfect location for those wanting a retreat on the Forgotten Coast. The home owner is a pleasure to interact with as well. The only reason I haven't left a review earlier is because I didn't want anyone to discover this amazing place! But now that we've booked our week a year ahead of time, I hope others get to enjoy this amazing home!
We took our family vacation here this year. There were 6 adults(4 in their 20,s) We had an awesome time. We brought our boat and fished the bay everyday. The kayaks were great fun. The house exceeded our expectations! It was very well equipped and very roomy. We loved it. It was just a short walk across the street to the beach which was very convenient. We really liked having our own private pool. This was the first time we rented a house and not a condo and we loved the feeling of space and freedom that the yard allowed us. WE will definitely be making a return visit
Home is located just 2 blocks from St. George Island State Park.
