In early SPRING the ice on the river is breaking up and it's a sight to see! Barges start as soon as the entire river is open. Enjoy AUTUMN during ' SeptOber Fest' which is held every weekend from the second weekend in September to the last weekend in October. The colors on the bluffs are spectacular!!! Whatever you choose to do you will find great people to welcome you.
Gary and Leslie are two retired teachers who have worn 'other' hats as well.
Gary loved to paint houses, Leslie did calligraphy and worked in a financial advisor's office for a time. Right now we are enjoying our new move to Wabasha. We love being in Wabasha because it is a very good place to be! It's also very nice to be able to personally take of our guests at Harbor View if they need something. We are also the parents of 3 adult sons, wonderful daughters-in-law and grandparents to 8.
Have to say that as much as we enjoyed bringing our young boys and our boat to Lake City every summer when we found Wabasha we were delighted. We came over one day in July about 10 years ago and found Harbor View to be perfect for us. The people are what's special about a place and Wabasha has wonderful people. When we returned on one of the coldest days in January we found it to be cozy and peaceful. In the fall we love to sit by the fire-ring as we look at the stars and greet those who stroll by. We love its situation right by the trail within walking or biking distance of everywhere! Out dog has loved it too! And we could leave our boat nearby in a public slip or on the trailer right next door. Renting one side to guests has been a plus as well. Its been fun to meet people with similar interests to our own.
Wabasha offers a quiet that some of the other rivertowns do not because the railroad or the highway doesn't run right beside the river here! The first time we saw the National Eagle Center it was just a small storefront downtown filled with the most knowledgeable and accommodating volunteers we ever encountered. It has only gotten better and we are members now. Of course the golf is great and the views from the course stupendous. When we desire a little side trip the small towns up and down the river on both sides offer some exciting diversions for adults and kids alike. We are so impressed with the professional people that provide great art, wonderful theater and a superb variety of music. We could go on and on but we hope you will come and seek out the hidden jewels yourself!
This property was the perfect spot for a quick weekend getaway! We brought our boat down to help us explore the area. With the marina across the street, access to the Mississippi couldn't have been easier!
Leslie was very accommodating with our stay and the property itself was perfect for a family of 4. It was very clean and comfortable. We look forward to coming back next year!
Walkable to the river and downtown. Great base to explore the area. Small towns. Lake Pepin and Wisconsin! Everything you need. Very clean and tasteful decor.
Harbor view is a great place to stay. Everything you need is within walking distance. There is a bike path that runs right by the property. We found it to be very comfortable, CLEAN, with a great view of the harbor.
We highly recommend Slippery's restaurant and Stacey's café.
It rained while we were there, so we couldn't get out on the lake but found lots of other things to, including live music under the bridge.
Would definitely stay at Harbor view again.
My family absolutely loved staying at this property, and would highly recommend this property to others. We will likely return in the future the next time we are staying in the area.
This place was a huge help with our Wedding weekend. The place has plenty of room and mirrors the guys when they are getting ready for in the morning, and a nice romantic place to end the day. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this property. It is very well maintained and remarkably tidy. One small thing that really impressed me was that the picture in your advertisement actually matched what we saw when we got there (not very often the case). All of the facilities (air conditioning, TVs, appliances) were well cared for and worked great. The owners were wonderful to deal with. Any time we had a question, we sent a text or made a call and got an immediate response. A great restaurant (Slippery's) is a short walk and I found other places close by for great breakfasts. Perhaps most of all for us was it was quiet and very restful; exactly what we were looking for. It was fun being in the place where they shot "Grumpy Old Men" and the people we talked with were quite willing to share their stories of the making of the movie. The owners also had the movies "Grumpy Old Men" and "Grumpy Old Men 2" available on DVD so guess what we watched one evening?
Bottom line is that came there to get away and relax for a few days and that's exactly what we did. A very positive experience for my wife and I. Hope to be able to return next summer.
6 miles from our place you will find Lark Toy Company which Readers Digest chose as one of the 10 best toy stores in the world! You will toys for all ages as well as mini-golf with colored water falls, llamas grazing in the back, toy-makers busy at work where you can watch and, best of all, a handmade unique indoor Carousel that you won't want to pass up! Sandwiches and treats are sold there as well. It is an adventure in itself south of Wabasha near Kellogg on Hwy 61.
