My husband and I grew up in Minnesota and met at a college we attended there. We built our first home out of logs in northern Minnesota. Cutting, peeling, and using our horses to drag the logs from our forest to our building site. Log by log our house became our home. I taught school and my husband worked as a contractor. Ready for a new adventure, I accepted a teaching job in New Mexico - and while there, we discovered Pagosa Springs. My husband began to work in his chosen field of Planning. We moved to Arizona where our first child was born always continuing to visit Pagosa Spring. I now was a full time Mom and it wasn't long and we bought our
areage near Pagosa Springs. Two more babies and our family was settled into life in the mountains. If you visit Pagosa Springs and take the time to hike the trails, horseback ride the mountains, float the river, fish the lakes, soak in the world renown hot springs, ski Wolf Creek, enjoy fabulous blue sky days year round, watch the sky be painted with color as the sun goes down, see the magnificence of our starry night sky, see and hear the wildlife that share this beautiful piece of earth - you will leave refreshed and full!

My husband and I love Pagosa Springs and have raised our children on our ranch in the area. We have looked for sometime for an intown location for those special times when the convenience of being in town outways the travel time needed to get to the ranch. This year, after a long search, we found the perfect place. Our home is surrounded by tall ponderosas and is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. We have furnished it with lovely southwest/mountain decor. The location is very convenient to all Pagosa Springs and the surrounding area has to offer.
Painted Horse is a one of a kind home and has a lovely deck and balconies with awesome views, including magnificent sunsets. Tucked in tall ponderosa pines for peaceful seclusion and yet this prime location is minutes from Pagosa's many attractions and activities.
Get a feel of the southwest as you enjoy our mountain home.
We had a wonderful stay! The house is beautiful and the perfect size for grandparents, parents and teens! We enjoyed the view and quiet mornings. God Bless.
Painted Horse is a beautiful home. The layout of this home is wonderful. We have stayed three times and we hope to return.
The bedrooms allow for great private spaces - balconies included. We truly like the open space of living room and dining area. The front deck is a great place to enjoy breakfast and watch the changing sky and hot air balloons. Sunsets are beautiful. Some of the family enjoyed watching the night sky from the deck.
The house is very clean and well maintained.
The owner was very easy to work with and when, on one of our stays, we decided to extend our stay, it was a hassle free transaction.
We will always remember celebrating our great granddaughter's birthday at Painted Horse as well as other family events.
Pagosa Springs is a wonderful place to visit. Treasure Falls and the Hots Springs are favorites.
Painted Horse is in a great location, comfortable and cosy. We highly recommend it.
This is a beautiful house . It is very well-maintained and clean. The owner is so easy to work with. It is in a quiet neighborhood but not too far from downtown and activities. We would definitely recommend this place to other people.
Purpose of trip was skiing/snowboarding. 35 mins to Wolf Creek. When we arrived the property was just as described. Home is new and well maintained. Great natural light and view from family room. Very quiet and peaceful. Plenty of space for our family of 5. Would definitely rent again.
This vacation rental really included everything we were looking for! A spacious interior with touches of Southwestern artistry, unique decor, and wonderful views. The location is quiet and feels secluded while being in great proximity to access any part of Pagosa Springs. In the mornings, we enjoyed the deer grazing outside. The owners are very accomodating and the house is spotless. We will definitely go back for another stay.
