It's called Windward, and is our century old cottage.
It's located one short block from the beach, the harbour and Pioneer Park, as well as being within walking distance to town. It offers both a claw-footed bathtub of old and a modern walk-in shower and accommodates eight.
Originally built by a sea captain who sailed from the Southampton port located half a block away, it continues to offer adventures of the lake. Enjoy a great yard for running or tossing a ball, a patio for grilling and a fire pit for camp fires in the evenings. Be it a day full of activity, the beach, or just sitting and enjoying your surrounds from the "North Watch" summer living room, this house offers a great location to enjoy time away from home. From Windward you can hear the waves crashing on the shore of Lake Huron and feel the breezes coming off the lake. Should it be chilly, the family room has a wood stove to add warmth and cheer to your day while you deliberate what to do in town.
Walk a block to Pioneer Park and use the walk way from there to explore the Lake Huron shore and get to the beach or turn the other direction and head to the harbour to see boats sail in at the mouth of the Saugeen River. While you're down there you can even pick up fresh fish for your dinner at the fish shop.
Southampton's business district is a few blocks walk and offers a variety of interesting stores and coffee shops, as well as a place to rent kayaks and canoes.
Cap each day off with the beauty of a Southampton sunset and on Fridays hear the piper salute the sun as it sets in the west. So, add your Lake Huron memories to this historic family cottage and share them with us in our guest book. This cottage only rents out from Saturday to Saturday with no part weeks, or weekend rentals available.
