About Andrew Starkweather

Husband and Father of 2 teenagers, Professional Chef, Entrepreneur, and Traveler.

Why Andrew Starkweather chose Cabo Rojo

I was immediately drawn to this property because of the quite (dead end street) neighborhood, amazing ocean views and the Caribbean breezes. I knew right away that this was a place that I could spend a lot of time doing nothing....

What makes this house unique

The location and privacy of Casa La Mela makes for easy vacationing. With plenty of indoor and out living space it is easy to find a quite reading spot or to socialize with a stellar view.

There is lots of activities and shopping within a 5-15 driving range.

Casa La Mela is a 5 Minute walk to Playa La Mela or the same to drive to Buye Beach. Faro beach at the southwest most tip of the island is 25 Minutes away.

Morning Sun, Blue Skies, and Beautiful Puerto Real Bay – ummm ….

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Cayito Del Sol was wonderful. The home owner Drew, was fantastic and helped make the rental smooth and easy. The property manager Carmen was equally as nice and very punctual with our meetings on arrival and leaving. The house location is between Boquerón and Cabo Rojo. Very easy to find and close to everything important. Stores, Beaches, restaurants etc.

The accommodations were very good if not excellent. We traveled with friends and fully utilized all features of the house. My wife and I took possession of the Casita which is somewhat removed from the main house across the court yard. The bed was very comfortable and our room was fully appointed with furniture including an exotic and beautifully draped mosquito netting above the bed. We didn’t need or use the netting but it was extremely cool looking! Beautiful sun streaming in each morning with that great Puerto Rico breeze flowing through the open windows!

I loved the outdoor shower in the courtyard – A great “wake me up” shower each morning! Our friends claimed the master suite upstairs along with the upper deck and they enjoyed a great view of the entire Puerto Real bay and Cayito Del Sol neighborhood. Fabulous view!

Cayito Del Sol was perfect for our adventure! The kitchen was well equipped and a true pleasure to cook in. Fully glassed all around so the kitchen crew had beautiful views while preparing sumptuous feast for our enjoyment. Each well prepared meal was fantastic! The cookware, knives, cooktop, all top notch equipment and so fun to use! We kept the booze in the freezer don’t you know for instant pre dinner Martini’s!

The courtyard held the large glass top table where we enjoyed sun drenched breakfasts and evening dinners of fresh fish purchased across the bay at the fish market behind “A Tu Gusto” on 308.

The house was well protected with wrought iron fencing and powered gates. We felt very safe at the house and came and went with abandon! Our friends walked the paths from the house down to the bay and eventually met me and my wife at Playa Buye where we had a several great afternoons lazing around under the trees and enjoying the sand and Caribbean waters.

The house is exposed to the north west and picked up full sun and bay breezes.

A truly beautiful Caribbean island home situated perfectly for exploring the Cabo Rojo/Boqueron area.

Stop searching the web and contact Drew to lock in your stay at Cayito Del Sol. You won’t regret it!

Beautiful home in a beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful, newly renovated house with wonderful views and top of the line furnishings, fixtures, kitchen and baths. Really remarkable. We were always on the go, but could easily have spent more time hanging around the house. Need to drive pretty much everywhere, but this is a quiet corner of the island and it was never crowded. Owner was super responsive to questions. Playa Sucia, 30 minutes away, was incredible! Drove up to Rincon for a nice day, but happier to have stayed down in Cabo Rojo. Hope to return here, someday

Gorgeous house. Lovely Views! So easy and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely holiday. Andrew helped make our holiday so easy and hassle free. The house is set up for ease, comfort, and relaxation. The gourmet kitchen is a dream to cook, eat and hang out in. The house has been newly remodeled, and tastefully done at that. In our experience, this is not your average rental house - it has quality cookware, new furniture, huge hammocks (very comfortable), and is the perfect place to wind down and chill out. Highly recommend this spot for your holiday, for a retreat. Next time I’m going to bring my whole family, and also spend a bit more time.
