Tenmile House takes its name from nearby Tenmile Creek, one of the cleanest, clearest streams on the Oregon Coast. Tenmile House was recently remodeled to make it a comfortable place for extended family gatherings. With three full bedrooms, two bunk beds, and two bathrooms, there’s room for siblings with children and the grandparents, too. A large second-floor bedroom offers privacy as well as generous views of the ocean. A spacious deck offers afternoon sunshine and ocean views. A woodstove in the living room warms the common area, where large windows provide views of the ocean, old-growth forests and the historic Tenmile Creek bridge, a beautiful round arch that rises out of the landscape like a giant sculpture.
A quarter mile of sandy beach is just a five minute walk from Tenmile House at Stonefield State Wayside, a little-used state park known for the agates that can be found among the beach cobbles. Sea lions, seals, and river otters can be seen early in the morning searching for breakfast in the surf. Eagles often nest in the big, old trees along the ridge just south of the creek and may be heard screeching as they soar high above the beach. Tidepools at the south end of the beach offer endless opportunities for exploring.
Tenmile House is sandwiched between two federally protected Wilderness Areas that offer solitude among towering Douglas firs and Sitka spruces, some of the biggest, oldest trees on the Oregon Coast. Cummins Creek Wilderness encompasses some 9,400 acres to the north and Rock Creek Wilderness preserves an additional 7,400 acres to the south. Some of the trees in these preserves are more than 9 feet in diameter, and they are some of the finest examples of the temperate rainforest that cloaked much of the Oregon Coast before European settlement. The Rock Creek Wilderness is also home of the rare Oregon silverspot butterfly.
Make Tenmile House your base for exploring the natural beauty of Oregon’s Central Coast.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005
We live in Grants Pass, but our family extends all the way to Portland. We bought this house to have a place halfway between the two cities where we could spend time together in a beautiful place.
The beach at Stonefield State Wayside is just a five minute walk, and you can have the whole beach to yourself on many days. It's a perfect place to run your dog, and if you go early in the day, you'll likely see seals or sea lions swimming close in. The charming little town of Yachats is just 10 minutes away by car. Arthur Frommer recently named Yachats one of his 10 best places in the world. There are great restaurants in town, a hardware store, full grocery, and a wonderful collection of friendly people.
Pretty much the perfect place for us all to enjoy the beach and one another's company!
Lovely home for large groups. Great kitchen, well appointed with room for several chefs! Back deck is really special and protected from the wind. Price for value is really outstanding.
Wonderful time for 9 of us, ages 7 to 64.
Beach is awesome! Very comfortable "homey" beach house. Fixed great meals. Star gazing from the back deck. Terrific time away from the hustle of the big city.
We took a trip down to visit family and met at this lovely home for my vacation time. The house was absolutely gorgeous. We brought along our new little puppy and had so much fun watching him meet the beach for the first time. We were blessed with the upstairs loft room where the bed faces the coast and you get to wake up to looking out the window with an ocean front view.
The rest of the house was great accommodations for 6 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs. My youngest daughter loved the upstairs room with the day bed and my oldest loved the bunk beds, much like what we have at home.
It was a perfect get-a-way weekend and a great way to start our vacation. I would highly recommend this house to anyone who enjoys the Oregon Coast and quick access to the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Love, Love, LOVE this house! Can’t wait to go back!
We love staying at the Ten Mile House. This time we met with other family members to celebrate a late Christmas. There were 8 of us and we never felt crowded. Our granddaughters loved the bunk room and the toys they found there. The kitchen accommodated several cooks for our large family meals. We spent many hours of just sitting around laughing and loving in this beautiful home.
The beach was a highlight. It was gorgeous weather so we set up on the beach with chairs, blankets, and picnic coolers. Several walked to the tide pool areas while some stayed put watching the kids play in the sand and play tag with the waves.
I would highly recommend this home for anyone wanting a comfortable and roomy home base while visiting the beach and surrounding areas.
I loved staying here. The beach across the street has tidepools, agates, and not a lot of people. I took a short drive into Yachats and enjoyed walking there, as well. The house is comfortable, with views of the ocean and sunset, an open kitchen, welcoming furniture and beds that made for great nights sleep.
I totally recommend staying here!
Tenmile House is surrounded by the Siuslaw National Forest. There are hiking trails nearby and miles of sandy beach to explore. Lakes to the south provide freshwater fishing opportunities. Ocean fisherfolk can launch their boats nearby at Florence or Waldport.
