About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Enjoy the full Hamptons experience just 90 minutes from NYC. The Hamlet of Remsenburg is rich in history, culture and Hamptons lifestyle. Our home is a family retreat on over an acre of property. Outside there is a huge deck including a covered dining area and a second floor providing open views of Moriches Bay and Dune Road beyond all overlooking 20x40 heated gunite pool. There is a 180+ foot bulkhead lined by Adirondack chairs on a canal that leads directly out to Moriches Bay. The backyard is southwest facing to enjoy the afternoon sun and sunsets. There is a shaded awning covering second floor deck. The outside includes an excess of furniture including large table with 8 chairs, 7 Adirondack chairs, rocking glider, 4 chaise lounges, sectional and large outdoor gas grill. Inside the home provides an open concept layout with 50 feet of new glass doors providing panoramic views outside. There are two oversized family rooms. One is 2 story with 55' LCD, surround sound, and wall to wall bookshelves with a huge selection of books and boardgames. The other is a media room with theater seating and another 55' LCD and surround sound, with an adjacent 8' pool table. There are 5 bedrooms three of which are master size, three of which have private bathrooms. One master has a king size bed, the other two have queen size beds. There is a queen bed in one of the other bedrooms, and the last has two single beds. There is an enormous brand new granite laden gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, gas Viking cooktop, an over sized island and giant table that seats 10. The entire house is warmly furnished with hardwood throughout and central air. This house was specifically bought to be a family retreat for our extended family that we have enjoyed for the past four years as we fully renovated it. We are only looking to rent to extended families who will treat our house like their own, and are only interested in rentals of ONE WEEK MINIMUM running from Sunday 4 pm to Sunday 10 am.

About The Owner

We were raised on Long Island and both our children were born there before we relocated first to Toronto and then to suburban Philadelphia. My son and I are avid golfers and this house is situated right in the middle of fantastic courses both east and west. My wife is a vintage collectibles dealer and the area is full of treasures. We all love the water and having this house with oversized deck, pool, and on a canal that leads into Moriches Bay has allowed us to have all our water sports at play. Our entire family loves to travel to see new places, and even more importantly just to be together and relax. With all this house has to offer we can do just that at the house, and if we want to catch a movie, shop or go to a restaurant the village of Westhampton Beach is 7 minutes away, and Dune Road full of beaches is another 5 minutes.

The Owner purchased this house in 2010

Why The Owner chose Remsenburg

We wanted to return to our roots on Long Island yet be away in a place that would serve as a retreat, not just for our immediate family but serve our extended family. Between us we have a brother and two sisters in Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk counties , with husbands, wives and their 6 children both adult age and young. We wanted a place where all could let their hair down, close enough for all to conveniently get to, and far enough away that all could truly relax and do what each wants to do. This place offers just that.

What makes this house unique

Beyond being on the water and close to beaches, shopping, theaters and restaurants, the house is on a quiet street in a residential setting in a charming neighborhood that offers everything from quiet strolls to scenic bike rides, and everything in between. Every weekend in the Hamptons offers summer concerts and a full array of events, and the award winning Long Island wineries are within comfortable driving distance.

A Hamptons Gem - Wouldn't Want to Leave!

  • 5 of 5

Comfortably elegant and a great place to 'live, love, laugh' with friends and family. We had a fabulous, fun reunion with our close-in circle in September. No matter where you turn in this lovely, well appointed home, there's something to do -- play billiards, nestle up with a book, cook and serve a meal fit for foodies, swim in the pool, laze on the deck chaises, be entertained by media, raise a glass of your favorite beverage, enjoy the amazing views. Getting a restful night's sleep here is easy to do; the beds are super comfortable! Location is perfect for power walks on tree-lined streets, close to great restaurants and Westhampton for shopping. We loved the private, park-like feel -- and felt miles away. Our time there flew; it was truly hard to leave. Thanks to Donna and Jim for a spectacular setting in which to make lasting memories -- we're sure you ordered up our 80 degree, sunny September weather too!

We stay at the Remsenburg house every summer and enjoy every moment!! There is never a lull in time, with all of the activities to do at the house and the immediate area. The beaches of Long Island are beautiful, the sunrise and sunsets never disappoint. Sitting on the dock with coffee in the morning with the birds and wildlife is second to none! The fishing at the dock in the evening having a glass of wine is my second best time of day. The pool makes things even more special for the kids to enjoy while the adults relax! The house is beautiful with plenty of room for family dinners, inside or out and the upper deck is so peaceful! We can't wait until next year. Thanks to the Krasses for allowing us to stay at your home and make wonderful family memories on Long Island.

Perfect, beautiful and comfortable house! There is not one thing we would change. LOVED IT!

We gathered members of our extended family together to celebrate my mother-in-law's 80th birthday and this house was beyond perfect. The owners (Donna and Jim) were to quick to answer any of our questions and provide all of the information we needed. This home was an absolute pleasure in every way with so many unexpected and amazing details.

The huge kitchen had everything we needed to create great family meals and either of the two large tables (indoor or outdoor under cover) were perfect for all of us. There were tons of pots and pans, beautiful dishes and flatware which easily accommodated all of us.

We loved the many beautifully decorated places to gather in this home. The outdoor sofa and comfortable loungers, the adirondack chairs by the canal, the media room, around the pool table with the juke box playing, in the living room, at the kitchen island, or at either of the two huge tables (indoor and out). We could easily be all together, or we could break into small groups. It suited our group perfectly in every way. The first floor en suite bedroom and the outdoor space level with the first floor were safe for my elderly in-laws. The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms were all very comfortable and high quality. The house was spotlessly clean.

In addition to the well-maintained pool which was surrounded by flowers, we could fish in the canal, or play lawn games while we barbecued. On July 4th our group walked the short distance to the end of the street filled with gorgeous homes to watch over ten fireworks displays around the Bay. The house is very private and just a short drive to everything - the grocery store, bagels, and great Hampton's restaurants and beaches. It's a huge beautiful house and was far better than we dreamed.

I can't thank the owners enough for letting us use their stunning and comfortable home. We've used VRBO many times and this was by far the best. I felt like I had been given the opportunity to use a family member's beautiful home - it did not have the usual sterile feel of a vacation rental and was far more comfortable and personally decorated. As a final indicator of the quality of this listing - we left two books at the home and were contacted by the owners the same day we left who kindly offered to overnight us books which our son needed for his college course.

Thank you for an amazing vacation filled with memories to last a lifetime. Every member of our group had a perfect time!

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

From the very beginning Donna and Jim were a pleasure to work with and their house is great! We had two families in this house (4 adults and 4 kids) and there was plenty of room. We spent the days in the pool and at night the kids went fishing on the canal and watched movies in the movie room.

The kitchen is huge and it was great to be able to fit both families around the dinner table each night. We loved our stay and would recommend this house to anyone!
