The location of Clearwater House really is fantastic. You'll have a unique island experience staying here; all the beauty of Seven Mile Beach without the crowds of staying on the "condo corridor". A grocery store, pharmacy, bank, liquor store and restaurants are withing walking distance. When you are ready for a night out, the corridor restaurants and amenities are only 3-5 miles away.
The home is light-filled and spacious. Guests are surprised at how large the home feels because of the open floor plan and windows. The home’s interior is tastefully decorated with a "barefoot luxury" look and feel. The open living, dining and kitchen spaces feature an 11-foot long, counter-height bar creating the perfect spot for large families and groups of friends to gather while cooking or mixing cocktails. Plenty of windows bring the "outdoors in" and allow for prime viewing of the gazebo, pool and pool space to give you the indoor/outdoor communal experience of Caribbean living.
The living room is equipped with a 60” HDTV, DVD player and fiber-optic cable with 119 channels including HBO, Disney, ESPN, Fox Sports and NFL Network. We have a 3-zone Sonos system to play your favorite music inside and out.
The outside living spaces are truly special; private pool, large pool area with plenty of seating and a spacious screened gazebo. The property is enclosed with a privacy wall and has a long set-back from the nearest neighbor so your family or group will enjoy incredible privacy to sit back and relax. You could easily spend an entire day and evening enjoying the pool and outdoor space that Clearwater House has to offer.
And the Beach!! All the beaches in Grand Cayman are public and this spot, being at the north end of SMB, is incredible. The beach access path is 323 ft from the driveway and, since Boggy Sand Road is a tiny, and not a through street, we do not have many visitors so the beach feels like your own slice of paradise. You can sit and relax looking out at the clear, turquoise water with the best off-shore snorkeling that Seven Mile Beach has to offer. The U.S. Kittiwake reef and dive site is located straight out from Boggy Sand Beach. For something different, and for more shade, Cemetery Beach is only an 8-9 minute walk from the home.
Many people from around the island head to the sea wall by Boggy Sand Road just to catch the amazing sunsets. At this sea wall, where Boggy Sand Road begins, you will also find Heritage Kitchen, the well known island restaurant famous for its simplicity, fresh fish and fresh juices.
-Nearby causal restaurants within walking distance include Heritage Kitchen, Alfresco's, 24-hr Subway and West Bay Diner.
-Finer dining restaurants a short drive away (1.8 mi) include: Calypso Grill, Catch and Morgan's Harbor; all favorites.
-Hotel, numerous restaurants along the SMB corridor, and Camana Bay ( a shopping center with a movie theater) are only 3 - 4.5 miles away.
-Nearby attractions include the Cayman Turtle Farm and Dolphin Discovery (1.8 mi), Cemetery Beach (0.6 mi), West Bay Beach Boat Ramp (0.25 mi), Yacht Club Boat Ramp (2.0 mi), Ritz Carlton Blue-Tip Golf Course (3.7 mi), Safehaven Dock and Northsound Golf Course (3.8 mi) and a curious little town called Hell (1.8 mi).
Also on site is a 1-bedroom studio that we call the Carriage House (sleeps 4). The Carriage House is occupied by the property’s caretaker but we can kick him out if you would like to rent this space along with the House to accommodate larger groups or special events. An extra per night rental fee, taxes, cleaning fee, etc. will apply to the Carriage House.
We are from Dallas, Texas but love the warm weather and beach. Our many family beach vacations took us to Cayman a few years ago …and we knew this was it!
Grand Cayman now feels like home to us. We have four generations of our family visiting at times and having a private home allows us to enjoy our valuable family time away from the crowds.
We have worked very hard to make CH a wonderful place for our family and friends and genuinely enjoy sharing our home with other families, couples and groups of friends who come to Cayman on holiday.
Tim Wheeler & Kathy Dearmond purchased this house in 2015
Cayman felt like home instantly; people are friendly, the beaches are fantastic, the water crystal-clear, calm and warm and the marine life is incredible. All that with luxury living and gourmet restaurants to make life comfortable.
Once we decided to make Grand Cayman our home, we spent the next 2 years exploring the island and trying to find our perfect slice of paradise. The charm and location of Boggy Sand Road is so unique, and the beach so beautiful , we knew it was Boggy Sand Road or nothing. Boggy Sand Beach is without a doubt our favorite part of Seven Mile Beach; absolutely stunning sunsets and wonderful snorkeling and marine life. We see so many great things at the beach and reef: sea turtles mating in the summer, vibrant coral and all kind of fish and other marine life.
We love that this location is quiet, relaxing and away from the more crowded parts of the Seven Mile Beach condo corridor and a fun night out is only a 5-7 minute drive away. Plus we can walk to Heritage Kitchen for great fresh fish and juices!
The pool and outdoor entertaining areas provide days and evenings of fun. A short walk down the picturesque Boggy Sand Road brings you to Boggy Sand Beach; to the right of the beach access point is a reef with the very best off-shore snorkeling on the island; to the left - sand and sun.
Could not have been happier with the house, the location (very quiet and private), the pool and the grounds. Very well maintained. Kathy is very attentive and makes sure her guests are well taken care of. She also is open to suggestions and takes action quickly if something needs attention. This was out 10th trip to Cayman and was probably our best trip much do to the facility. Plenty of water toys available for kids and adults. Masks, fins, snorkels, skim and boogie boards, paddle boards etc. The pool was in constant use by the grandchildren ages 5 to 16. We could not have asked for more.If we decide to visit Cayman again we will stay at Clearwater House.
Even a month after our visit my children are still talking about our "beach house" and bringing back all of the wonderful memories that were created. The Grand Cayman is amazing however staying in a home where you feel like you at home takes your experience to another level. Kathy was more than accomidating and extremely helpful from the day we booked until the day we left. Our first impression of the house made us wonder if we were the first guests staying because honestly it is kept in fantastic shape. Kathy gave us recomindations when we asked and was always available for questions. There was not one detail overlooked from the bed linens to the beach equipment that the owner generously lets you borrow. This vacation and experience has set the bar and we are absolutely looking forward to booking in the near future. Thank you for opening up your home to us! Looking foward to our next adventure.
We have been anxiously anticipating our first trip to Grand Cayman for many months as our familys trip was meant to allow for "blending" opportunities. So it was important to find the right house at the right location. Clearwater could not have been more perfect for us. Every detail of the house was so well thought out: from the abundance of towels to the Sonos audio system and Netflix on every TV to a fully stocked gourmet kitchen to bathrooms complete with body lotion and shampoo. It was clear that Kathy, the owner, was intent on giving her guests a 5 star experience with every need anticipated and met. When we arrived, we were greeted by Kathy and her daughter Emily with a full pitcher of homemade mojitos. She encouraged us to get comfortable and gave us a quick explanation of the house and surroundings. A quick trip to the market and we were off to explore the grounds and the beach. As beautiful as the beaches were in the West Bay, with stunning snorkeling and gorgeous sand, it became harder and harder to convince the family to leave the pool and head elsewhere. The pool and surrounding grounds were so well kept and secluded, that it felt as if we were totally private. With the outdoor music system, we had our very own atmosphere set to match our many moods. Dinner became the activity we all looked forward to the most, with everyone playing a role in either the prep, cooking or clean up. Our dinners ranged from grilled steak and fish tacos to rice and beans and lasagna. The house performed so well that it felt like home in no time.
But above all of the benefits that came from staying in such a beautiful home was the ability to get to know Kathy and her daughter Emily. They were never intrusive in any way. Instead, they were both incredibly gracious and generous in helping us plan our activities. Kathy provided guided snorkeling and paddle boarding adventures and helped to organize our excursions. Emily offered to take pictures on our excursions and their dog Franklin quickly became part of the family.
We made so many incredible memories on this trip which could not have been possible without the care of our amazing hosts. Our favorite keepsake is the video that Emily compiled for us. We will treasure these memories and will be forever grateful for our time at Clearwater.
The Clearwater House was even better than expected and Kathy is the perfect hostess. We travel a lot and do not generally go back to the same place twice. I would make re-visiting Clearwater House an exception. We recently went down to Grand Cayman with our two teenagers and 2 other couples. We all had plenty of room in the house to spread out as well as a central location to all hang out. We were close to the local attractions, restaurants, and grocery stores in the West Bay and Seven Mile Beach area. The house was nicely decorated, had plenty of beach/pool towels, washer/dryer, nice kitchen, and was a couple minutes walk to the beach. Kathy shared restaurant tips and activity tips with us and made us feel right at home for the week we were there. It was a perfect island get away and I would happily go back.
We stayed at Clearwater in May. My husband and I went with our 2 month old baby, 3 year old daughter, my husband's parents, and a babysitter. We had a vacation to remember! The pictures taken of the property might be even more beautiful in person. We did not spend much time inside, but everything we needed was available for us in the house. The master bath was recently redone and the shower was amazing! The layout was perfect for our kids and for all to have privacy. We spent all day outside, even though the inside is beautiful. There are floats and pool toys as well as plenty of seating. We didn't have a problem with bugs at night. We did spend most of our nights playing games in the gazebo which is all screened in and has a fan. We used the grill in the gazebo several nights as well. Walking to a few places was important to us, and we definitely found a few restaurants just a few minutes away. Other restaurants that are on the ocean are just a short car ride. We made many trips to the grocery store (2 minute drive or walkable) , did several beach excursions, drove the whole island. We never had been to Grand Cayman but now we see why people visit so frequently. The water is unreal!
We would definitly recommend this property to anyone. Whether it be a bunch of couples wanting to get away or for a family with kids. We thought we were crazy to travel with 2 very little children, but once we arrived to Clearwater, there were no worries to be had! It was a week of laughter and relaxation, and we hope to go back again!
The house is beautiful and has everything you could ask for, but Kathy is what makes the experience go above and beyond. To say she bends over backwards to accommodate her guests is an understatement. She’s the type of person who you ask where to find a tropical drink served in a coconut and after she calls around to all the local bar and restaurants to find out no one does, you come home to find her cutting the coconuts out of her own trees and cleaning them to bring you fresh coconut water and mai tais served in coconuts! It’d be easy to describe all the other ways Kathy made our stay wonderful as if it were a uniform approach to each family that rented the home; but it was clear from the beginning she spent the time to learn about our specific interests and reached beyond the minimum to make our stay special. The pictures on the website do not oversell. This is one of the few times a house exceeds the pictures on their website. The Clearwater House is clean, the décor is modernly beachy, and provides all the amenities you can hope for traveling to any vacation destination. While Clearwater House is not beach front, by walking only two minutes across the street, you can reach a beautiful private-feeling beach with excellent snorkeling only a few minutes from shore. We also found that by crossing a few rocks, you could reach Cemetery Beach – one of the more popular beaches on the island. It was our first stay on the island, and having driven through and spent some time in Georgetown and Seven Mile Island - they’re fun to drive through and see, but Boggy Sand Road is the best place on the island to be. The water and sand are beautiful and you get to enjoy the true island feel by just walking across the street and the rest of the island is only a quick drive away.
323 Feet away from Boggy Sand Beach, the most beautiful part of Seven Mile Beach. Boggy Sand Beach is the last part of Seven Mile Beach with private residences. Multi-million dollar mansions and 100 year old cottages line Boggy Sand Road and give it a unique at charming feel.
Within a short walking distance (5 minutes) you have access to Fosters Supermarket and Centennial Towers Center with a pharmacy, bank, Subway sandwich shop, dry cleaner and more.
The Kittiwake Shipwreck is a 5 minute swim from shore. Cayman Turtle Farm, Dolphin Discovery and Barkers Nature Reserve are all within a 5 minute drive away. We are less then 10 minutes away from Camana Bay with Shoppes, a Cinema and lots of restaurants and free evening entertainment over weekends.
