This is a perfect short-term rental for a visiting professor, a couple or a small family that wants to experience all that the Bay Area has to offer.
What can I say about Berkeley? It is home to one of the world's great universities and is known for the high concentration of fine eating establishments including Chez Panisse by Alice Waters, the Cheese Board Collective, as well as the first ever Peet's Coffee & Tea Shop. Sidewalk cafes, bakeries, coffee houses, wine shops, boutiques, artisan home decor, and flower stands all lend the area a European ambiance. Fourth street has fine shopping in a variety of stores.
Berkeley also features two major theater companies as well as numerous small theater groups, symphonic and chamber orchestras, Cal Performances, several movie houses, and museums.
Come and enjoy!!

The east coast owner moved west 5 years ago, renovated her aunt’s house in Berkeley and has truly fallen in love with her home and all that Berkeley has to offer.
A retired Landscape Architect, I love to garden and am currently trying my hand at watercolor and pastel portraits.
I love to travel but always love coming home to Berkeley.
Jean Holmes purchased this studio in 2006
There is so much to do in this area!! I love the theater, hike frequently in many of the nearby parks, and take classes at the university whenever possible.
Location, location, location! The public transportation is convenient, and UC Berkeley is a 25 minute walk down the hill.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. Your place was perfect. The view, neighborhood and amenities were everything we hoped for. Cannot wait to get back to Berkeley for another visit!
This studio is such a deal for the Bay area. It is very clean and looks even better in person, than what you see in the listing. I really enjoyed staying in a quiet neighborhood, rather than in the city. It is an easy drive or ride via BART to downtown San Francisco. There are two BART stations nearby. This was the perfect spot for our getaway. We were never able to meet Jean since we were in and out, as was she, but she was very responsive to our texts and emails asking for advice on different things in the city. I would definitely stay here again!
Jean is the consummate host. Her place is spotless and I was treated like I was visiting family. The location is outstanding and provided a wonderful opportunity to get some experience with the commute to San Francisco from the Berkeley Hills. Parking is steps from the front door, the neighborhood is safe and wonderful to walk in, and the views of the lights at night, and the bay during the day from the kitchen window are very special. I would definitely return.
Our stay at Jean's VRBO in Berkeley was fantastic. The location was exceptional with beautiful views. The actual apartment was spotless and stocked with dishes and anything you might require. We thought the bed was extremely comfortable with beautiful crisply clean sheets. Jean was nearby for anything we might need or any question we might have. However, she always took care to give us privacy. We travel a great deal both in the States and in Europe and always use VRBOs. We rate this VRBO 10-out-of-10.
I was very glad to spend almost two weeks at Jean's place while working in Berkeley. It was private, comfortable and very charming. The foliage and sunsets made it feel wonderfully meditative. Location was great too. I'd highly recommend it for a couple or single person.
This was absolutely perfect for my wife and me, revisiting old haunts in the Bay Area for 5 days. The location couldn't be better: walking distance to all the restaurants and activities both in North Berkeley and on Solano Avenue (down the scenic path past Indian Rock); and an easy drive to the San Rafael Bridge for our day in Marin. Even so, it's quiet and dark at night -- and the view is dramatic. The apartment itself is new, fresh, spotless, with lots of light, fresh air, and lovely decor (antique furniture, art on the walls, etc.). The bed is extremely comfortable; shower is great; kitchen had all we needed for several meals in. Jean was responsive and helpful, and couldn't have been a more gracious hostess. She even stocked a small library in the apartment with guidebooks and maps for the Bay Area. We will definitely try to stay here again when we return!
I was in Berkeley to pick up my daughter from school at Cal and bring her home for the summer. Of course, so we everyone else and it was graduation weekend. The result was not many hotel rooms and those that were available were horrendously expensive. So I booked this studio on VRBO. I don't think I will ever go back to a hotel in Berkeley. This place was great. Great views of the Bay and such a relaxing setting. I was perfectly located to do things on campus and to get my morning (and afternoon) fix of Philz Coffee. We were near all the good stuff on Shattuck. When you are in a nice place like Berkeley sometimes staying in a hotel can be depressing (and expensive). Staying in this studio in such a nice neighborhood was refreshing and invigorating. The bed was very comfortable too.
