We held our annual mother/daughter bible study retreat here and even with poor weather, had a wonderful time! The place was gorgeous and in between raindrops the girls loved seeing the friendly animals. We plan to do more large group meetings here!
35 of us had a spectacular week at Sugarboo. Beautiful area with plenty to do. The younger children really enjoyed feeding the farm animals and spending time with them. Jose the grounds keeper checked on us often and was so helpful. The farmhouse was a hit and the whole family really did love everything especially the outdoor movies under the stars and laying around in the most relaxing hammocks! I look forward to returning with friends someday.
We found this resort location while hunting for a place in the mountains for our wedding and were absolutely blown away by the beauty, luxury, and support we received during our stay. The area was easy to find, our every request was fulfilled with a smile and with all speed, and the view from the main building must be seen to be believed. We're already discussing Sugar Boo Farms as a family retreat in the future. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
We spent the week of our wedding at Sugarboo. It's a bit of a trek from Atlanta (and I would recommend coming up 575 unless you have a strong stomach). Once you're there, you will never want to leave.
We made the most of our time and invited guests to come early. We harvested carrots and eggs from the garden and chicken coop at the bottom of the hill, and we cooked most of our meals in the outdoor oven. It made everything taste better from pizza to roasted chicken. The kids loved visiting Philipe the donkey and his goat friends. We were blessed with sunny days with chilly nights (high 20's/low 30's). No worries. It was a perfect excuse for campfires, hot chocolate, and hot tub soaks, plus all the cottages had space heaters.
Everyone who worked with Sugarboo was extremely helpful. We went with their recommendation for a local caterer. She did an AMAZING job with our wedding meal - rabbit, trout, wild mushroom barley risotto... Can you tell we're food people? Also, Jim's BBQ down the road catered our Friday night dinner - best BBQ I've had in GA so far. Nearby Vogel State Park made for a lovely afternoon outing. We didn't get to take advantage of local paddle boarding or hikes like we wanted. Next time...
The only downside was lack of internet & phone connection, which turned out to be a good thing because we were able to focus 100% on our guests and the stunning beauty around us.
Can't wait to get back. Thanks for an unforgettable wedding!
This venue from the location to the decor to the staff was absolutely wonderful. I loved everything about it. My only complaint was my trip went by too fast and I had to leave. I wish I could get married all over again just to be there again. Absolutely gorgeous!
Had a wonderful time at Sugarboo in February of 2013 for a work retreat. Their facilities are amazing and the care taker, Eddie, was a great help throughout the week as well.
The cabins are great for privacy and the large farm house works well to gather for full group times. The kitchen is fully equipped and worked well for our large group.
The grounds are well kept and offer great hiking/biking opportunities.
Would for sure recommend Sugarboo for your work or family getaway! First class!
Walking trails on the property, organic garden and greenhouse on the property, friendly farm animals, miles of relaxing streams and creeks with benches and swings throughout
